  • In computer forensics investigation, the investigators collect, protect, analyze and interpret massive amount of data which were used in cyber crime. However, due to its huge amount of information, it takes a great deal of time and errors often result even when they use forensics investigation tool in the process. The information visualization techniques will greatly help to improve the information processing ability of human when they deal with the overwhelming amount of data and have to find out significant information in it. The importance of Intrusion Detection System(IDS) among network forensics is being emphasized in computer forensics. In this study, we apply the information visualization techniques which are proposed to be a great help to IDS and carry out the usability test to find out the most effective information visualization techniques for IDS.

  • As a supplement to X-ray mammography, microwave imaging is a new and promising technique for breast cancer detection. Through solving the nonlinear inverse scattering problem, microwave tomography (MT) creates images from measured signals using antennas. In this paper, we describe a developed MT system and an iterative Gauss-Newton algorithm. At each iteration, this algorithm determines the updated values by solving the set of normal equations using Tikhonov regularization. Some examples of successful image reconstruction are presented.

  • Mobile Ad Hoc Network is easy to be attacked because nodes are distributed not network based infrastructure. Intrusion detection system perceives the trust values of neighboring nodes and receives inspection on local security of nodes and observation ability. This study applied clustering mechanism to reduce overhead in intrusion detection. And, in order to measure the trust values, it associates the trust information cluster head received from member nodes with its own value and evaluates the trust of neighboring nodes. Secure data transmission is received by proposed concept because the trust of nodes on network is achieved accurately.

  • We propose a statically motivated scene change detection algorithm. As the difference between the neighboring frames will generate peaks at scene boundaries, the problem of detecting fast scene changes is equivalent to detecting peaks in a given sequence. In this paper, the peak detection is performed via several statistics, namely the sample means and variances. For eliminating flash lights as well as detecting fast scene changes within a small number of frames, we have opted to use a two-stage process for computing the necessary statistics. The results indicate superiority of necessary statistics. The results indicate superiority of the proposed algorithm over the previously reported algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a livestock theft detection system through moving object classification and tracking method. To do this, first, we extract moving objects using GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) and RGB background modeling method. Second, it utilizes a morphology technique to remove shadows and noise, and recognizes moving objects through labeling. Third, the recognized moving objects are classified into human and livestock using skeletal features and color similarity judgment. Fourth, for the classified moving objects, CAM (Continuously Adaptive Meanshift) Shift and Kalman Filter are used to perform tracking and overlapping judgment, and risk is judged to generate a notification. Finally, several experiments demonstrate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed method.

  • Structural health monitoring has drawn great attention in the field of civil engineering in past two decades. These structural health monitoring methods evaluate structural integrity through high-quality sensor measurements of structures. Due to electronic deterioration or aging problems, sensors may yield biased signals. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop a fault detection method that identifies malfunctioning sensors in a sensor network. This method exploits the autoregressive modeling technique to generate a bank of Kalman estimators, and the faulty sensors are then recognized by comparing the measurements with these estimated signals. Three types of faults are considered in this study including the additive, multiplicative, and slowly drifting faults. To assess the effectiveness of detecting faulty sensors, a numerical example is provided, while an experimental investigation with faults added artificially is studied. As a result, the proposed method is capable of determining the faulty occurrences and types.

  • This paper describes the novel control techniques design of VSC(Voltage Sag Corrector) for the purpose of power line quality enhancement. A fast detecting technique of voltage sag is implemented through the detection of instantaneous value on synchronous rotating do-reference frame. The first order digital filter is added in the detection algorithm to protect the insensitive characteristics against the noise. The relationship between the total detection time and cut-off frequency of the filter is described. The size of the capacitor bank used as the energy storage element is designed from the point of view of input/output energy with circuit analysis. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is proven through the simulated results.

  • The error analysis for the Time-in-Flight Laser Range Finder with Multiple Tone Amplitude Modulation relevant to the phase detection error is made. The distance can be estimated to solve the formulate which express the relationship between the absolute distance from the range finder to the object and the wavenumbers and the phases of the modulated waves by the optimization technique. The main cause of the estimation error can be considered as the phase detection error induced from the amplitude modulator and the phase detector. To clarify the phase detection error and the optimal amplitude frequency set, the numerical analysis are made.

  • In order to comprise a basic closed-loop control system for hydraulic systems it is necessary to detect the piston rod stroke of a hydraulic cylinder. There are many conventional type sensors which can detect the displacement of cylinders. However, they cannot reveal the original performance normally or they cannot be applied at all where the operating circumstance of cylinders is beyond specifications of sensors. Especially, for the purpose of detecting the strokes of cylinders mounted on heavy equipments, a special exclusive sensor must be used because the operating circumstances of heavy equipments are so severe that general purpose sensors cannot endure such circumstance as shock and a residual vibration induced by rough works. In this paper, an exclusive method for detecting the piston rod stroke for heavy equipments is suggested, which adopts a remote detecting technique using optical fiber sensors. Several experiments using the prototype are executed for verifying the effectiveness of the suggested method and the possibility of the accurate detection of stroke.

  • We introduce a simple optically passive detection scheme for Bragg grating sensors. This detection scheme is based on two cavity lengths in Fabry-Perot read-out interferometers to produce two quadrature phase shifted signals from the Bragg grating sensor. The passive detection technique is demonstrated by the use of Bragg grating sensors in measuring the dynamic vibrations of the composites.
