  • Stem rot was found for the first time on the Asiatic dayflower plant (Commelina communis L.) in Korea. A detailed description of this Korean specimen is given, along with its rDNA internal transcribed spacer sequence. The fungus was identified as Sclerotium rolfsii Saccardo based on mycological characteristics and molecular data.

  • There is a deep and useful connection between thermodynamics (the behavior of systems with many degrees of freedom in thermal equilibrium at a finite temperature) and combinational or continuous optimization (finding the minimum of a given multiparameter function). At the heart of the method of simulated annealing is an analogy with the way that liquids freeze and crystallize, or metals cool and anneal. This paper provides a detailed description of simulated annealing. Although computationaly intensive, when it is carefully implemented, simulated annealing is found to give superior results to more traditional methods of nonlinear optimization.

  • A new approach to impulsive noise rejection and background normalization of digitized electrocardiogram signals is presented using mathematical morphological operators that incoporate the shape information of a signal. A brief introduction to these nonlinear signal processing operators, as well as detailed description of the new algorithm, is presented. Empirical results show that the new algorithm has good performance in impulsive noise rejection and background normalization.

  • The lichen species Polychidium muscicola was found in South Korea for the first time and this is the first record of the genus Polychidium from the Korean peninsula. This species is characterized by a dichotomously branched minute thallus with clustered cells of Nostoc as the photobiont. A detailed description and illustrations of this species are provided.

  • Hamartoma had been considered as a congenital malformation of a tumerous lesion since the original description by Albrecht in 1904. Pulmonary hamartoma is able to classified as endobronchial and intrapulmonary hamartoma clinically, and is considered to benign mesenchymal neoplasms which originated in peribronchial connective tissue, and so called mesenchymoma by someone. We have experienced 3 cases intrapulmonary hamartoma which were discovered during routine chest film check up at all cases and are able to detailed histologic examination by electron microscopy at one case.

  • A detailed description of the Laboratory Processing procedures for Soft Base Denture that varies from those offered by the manufacturer has provid to be effective. As follows ; 1. Pomotion of patient's comfortability 2. increase in denture retention 3. because of the same heat-curing denture materials used improves bonding & endurance 4. often used denture refitting 5. reducing the rate of alveolar absorption The processing for soft base denture is very sensitive, consequntly.

  • In this paper a detailed description of collecting Korean audio-video speech data is presented. The main aim of this experiment is to collect some audio-video materials which can be used for later experiments to estimate and model the actions of the visible human articulatory organs such as mouth, lips and jaw. We collect audio-video data from seven directions separately. Twelve markers are used to trace the movements.

  • Current database technique offers the possibility to store giant amounts of data, worldwide networks provide the technical base for everybody to access it. However, it is usually very time-consuming or even impossible to find the most relevant information. This article describes the usage of mobile soft-ware agents to query different databases on the Internet, to rate and compress the results and to present them to the user in a consistent form, It contains a general definition of soft-ware agents, a detailed description of the approach and a discussion of its main advantages and weaknesses.
