  • The purpose of this study is to suggest designing goals and directions in the lobby area of obstetric hospitals by constructing a space evaluation structure model, which is made by image evaluation structure model used by SD method and Advanced Repertory Grid Technique. As a result of the image evaluation used by SD method, it turned out 4 factors which are related to recognizing and evaluating the space formativeness, openness, decorativeness, sensitiveness. I found out the relationship between space evaluation structure and the element of interior space. I also suggested detailed designing method based on this relationship. Space evaluation structure model can be applied to designing lobby areas of obstetric hospitals to reconstruct more specific and objective designing goals and standards rather simply designer's sensitive and abstract designing approach.

  • The Insulation, which is consist of the glass wool, mineral wool or perforated SUS plate, installed on the wall or under ceiling for the protecting heat and the blocking the noise of engine room area. In our shipyard, designing the structure model of insulation is hard and difficult, Because designed the insulation model is considered of any factors which are hull model properties of panel shape, direction and thickness and service of area. In this paper, We issue the way to utilize shape and direction of the hull model information and specific character of working space in engine room.

  • Seismic isolation systems decouple structures from ground motions to protect them from seismic events. Seismic isolation devices have been implemented in many full-scale buildings and bridges because of their simplicity, economic effectiveness, inherent stability, and reliability. It is well known that the most uncertain aspect for obtaining the accurate responses of an isolated structure from seismic events is the seismic loading itself. It is needed to know the seismic response distributions of the isolated structure resulting from the randomness of earthquakes when probabilistic designing or probabilistic evaluating an isolated structure. Earthquake time histories are useful and often an essential element for designing or evaluating isolated structures. However, it is very challenging to gather the design and evaluation information for an isolated structure from many seismic analyses. In order to evaluate the seismic performance of an isolated structure, numerous nonlinear dynamic analyses need to be performed, but this is impractical. In this paper, the concept of the stochastic response database (SRD) is defined to obtain the seismic response distributions of an isolated structure instantaneously, thereby significantly reducing the computational efforts. An equivalent model of the isolated structure is also developed to improve the applicability and practicality of the SRD. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is numerically verified.

  • Business organizations are asked to create new business models utilizing current technological innovations such as ubiquitous computing technology for developing new domains of business to obtain a competitive advantage and achieve a sustainable development. This study was focused on the processes for developing new and practical business models. The purpose of this study was to propose ubiquitous sport business modeling processes from the modeling framework. In particular, this study focused on developing new, pragmatic, and effective sport business models, and this new type of business is defined as 'u-sport.' For design the business model, extensive literature reviews and case studies were conducted for benchmarking the cases and expert group review was conducted for developing u-sport business model framework. The suggested business modeling processes in this study were consisted of four phases; 1) organization strategy level setting phase, 2) business strategy level setting phase, 3) business structure level setting phase, and 4) service level setting phase. The modeling processes were verified to adapt ubiquitous sport business. This designing and modeling process is expected to play a significant role on enhancing the technology-based business environments as the process mainly focuses on the service and consumer oriented approach rather than technology and suppliers oriented approach. In conclusion, establishing sport business models by adapting the service modeling process will deliver an exponential growth and development of future ubiquitous based industry.

  • Recent past work has demonstrated that hydraulic semiactive vibration absorbers hold the promise of providing an ideal means of mitigating structural vibration. This paper examines a factor that must be treated when designing a hydraulic semiactive vibration absorber for application to a full scale structure; fluid compressibility. An expanded and consistent dynamic model of the flow process is first established. A simple feedback control is then tested on a single degree of freedom laboratory structure to verify the findings.

  • In this study, we implement the prototype modeler with non-manifold data structure using Open Inventor. In these days, Open Inventor is a popular tool for computer graphics applications, even though Open Inventor could not store topological information including a non-manifold data structure which can represent an incomplete three dimensional shape such as a wireframe and a dangling surface during designing. Using Open Inventor, our modeler can handle a non-manifold model whose data structure is based on the radial edge data structure. A model editor is also implemented as an application which can construct a non-manifold model from two dimensional editing.

  • This article provides a dynamic modeling methodology of engines to be accurate with a small number of degrees of freedom for an active vibration control using a top bracing. First. a finite element (FE) model for the engine structure is constructed so that the size of model is as small as possible where the dynamic characteristics of engine are ensured. Second. a technique is studied to obtain the exact mass and stiffness matrices of the FE model. The size of matrices from the FE model is still too large to apply. Finally, a model reduction is. therefore. conducted to make an appropriate dynamic model for designing and simulating a top bracing. In this article, a dynamic model of a large 9 cylinder engine is constructed and reviewed by comparing its natural frequencies and steady state reponses with those of experimental data provided by manufacturer.

  • In recent carbody design of rolling stocks, the development of a new carbody structure rather than designing the carbody structure by applying a proven new way to design the carbody structure has been applied. Structural requirements of the carbody being equal, the same applies to the carbody structure means that it is possible to design a carbody structure. By kinematic envelope & speed and the environment, etc., the carbody design is in progress. Accordingly, if all conditions are the same as the existing carbody structure by the same criteria is that you can go get the same. Rather than developing a new carbody structure, carbody structure by applying proven that safety is secured is made possible. Proven standard model of the carbody structure of rolling stocks to secure a new carbody design has made it possible to apply. In addition, the size of the different carbody but structural requirements are the same body design is easier to be expected. In this paper, a model standard carbody of rolling stocks is chosen and of a new carbody design that can be applied to the carbody design will attempt to demonstrate the case.

  • In designing the structure, the stress path is the basic data. But the stress path is not standardized to analysis the structure. So the one-dimensional frame element structure model with the triangle irregular network is used to solve the problem. And the refined evolutionary structural optimization(RESO) used in structural topology optimization is applied to this study. Through this process, the search method of the stress path is advanced and the burden of the calculation. is reduced.
