오피스의 개념이 바뀌면서 그 기능과 역할이 축소되고, 가정이 곧 사무실 화하는 업무형태가 주목을 받고 있다. SOHO(Small Office Home Ofice)라고 불리우고 있는 '가정내의 사무실' 즉 '홈 오피스'는 정보통신기술의 발달로 인해 가능해졌고, 기업의 리스트럭처링(Restructuring)붐을 타고 날로 확산 추세에 있다. 재택 근무 형태는 직원에게 여유 있는 시간과 집중력을 배가시킨 업무효율을, 기업에는 고정비용의 감소와 생산성 향상을 제공한다. 또한 교통문제나 환경문제를 해소할 수 있고, 여성이나 고령자, 장애자 등의 잠재 노동력을 활용할 수 있는 장점도 있다. 향후 업무형태의 주종을 이룰 것으로 예상되는 홈 오피스의 공간계획, 가구배치 등 디자인상의 문제를 연구하여 재택 근무자 들에게 효율적인 업무수행을 높이고 창조적인 환경을 제공하는 것이 무엇보다도 중요하다. 또한 합리적인 홈 오피스 가구디자인을 위해서는 건축, 인테리어 디자이너는 물론 정보통신 전문가, 고용문제 전문가 등 관련 분야의 전문가들이 공동으로 연구 추진되어야 할 것이다.

This work was designed for the Green Fund Aid 2004 of Korea Forest Service. It won the prize and has been constructed. We can have an opportunity to play a leading role in improving partnership with participation of local communities, promoting environmental education, and enhancing the environmental quality by constructing biotops in urban areas where energy flow in the ecosystem is not balanced. This design includes 'citizen participation process' and 'local community partnership' that is expected to promote local community participation in the process of design. This work suggests that biotope construction with citizen involvement and community partnership plays an important role not only in design items but also in the revitalization of local community. This sort of design process could not be fully achieved without cooperation with stakeholders - environmental specialists, local authorities, relevant societies, schools, teachers, parents of students.

This study explored the characteristics of contemporary furniture called New Design furniture design in terms of aesthetics of communication in the postmodern era. Qualitative conceptural analysis as the principal methodology was used to explore the characteristics of New Design furniture, which is accessible to the broadest possible public. Thereby, the communicative elements of symbol, metaphor, narrative, animation, imagination, humor, and/or wit expressed in New Design furniture were analyzed according to the designers'concept and work. As a result the postmodern aesthetics of communication made New Design furniture accessible to the largest number of People through cultural considerations in New Design furniture as it influences designers 'concept and work. However, it showed problems of New Design furniture in connection with postmodern aesthetics affecting mass production. Therefore, the designers have begun rethinking, redefining, and redesigning their furniture aesthetically, functionally, economically, and ecologically.

Design piracy is the unauthorized copying of another designer or manufacturer's work. While controversial, it is an institutionalized practice in the apparel industry. The purpose of this study was to better understand student perceptions of design piracy, particularly as it is one they will encounter in their future careers. The authors interviewed twenty-four apparel design students at a land-grant Midwestern University. Data was analyzed using theme analysis. Three themes developed including: 1) Expressions of cognitive dissonance in statements expressing enjoyment of the practice of design piracy as a consumer; yet disappointment when (and if) their own design work was copied. 2) Concerns regarding the definition of originality and the logistics of enforcing a plan against design piracy. 3) Differences of opinion regarding the prevalence of the practice, particularly if the students had industry experience or not. Advice for professors from students regarding piracy is included.

In Korea, there are many attempts to automate architectural design tasks, focusing on government-led national R&D projects and private operators, in order to enhance global competitiveness and productivity of the building service industry. However, according to a survey of architectural design office practitioners, only 25% (9 out of 37) have used it, suggesting that there are fewer cases of practical use in the field compared to research and investment in automation technology development, and there are discrepancies between automation and technology development items required in the field. In this study, the priority of automation of planning and design work of architectural design office practitioners is derived, and a comparative analysis is conducted with domestic architectural design automation service items based on the priority. A survey was conducted on practitioners of domestic architectural design offices to derive automation priorities for 19 items of architectural planning and design work. Based on the derived priorities, the degree of reflection of the working-level automation needs of domestic services was confirmed by comparing them with the domestic architectural planning and design automation service items. As a result, it was confirmed that domestic architectural planning and design automation services did not properly reflect the priority of planning and design work automation of architectural design office practitioners. This suggests that it is necessary to reflect the priorities derived in this study in technology development in order to increase the cases of practical use of the automation technology in the working environment and improve the productivity of service.

During the construction of the project, all surveying and mapping work is collectively referred to as engineering survey. Therefore, the measurement work contains a wide range of content, in the engineering survey, design and construction management stage are involved. To the actual work, the project measurement runs through the project building in a number of stages, and provide basic services. This paper mainly through the analysis of engineering measurement at all stages of the role played by the measurement work in the project management work to do the following description.

In recent years, young Chinese consumers have become more favorably inclined toward products relating to traditional culture. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a textile design that incorporates traditional Chinese patterns and cultural symbolism that will appeal to consumers from the MZ generation (millennials and Generation Z). Through a literature search for traditional Chinese patterns and symbols regarded as auspicious, our design concept and motives were established. We selected peony, lotus, and frog motifs as representative of a "wealth and eternal prosperity" design theme. In textile design work 1, we used hand drawing and watercolor techniques, color transformation with Adobe Photoshop, and colorway and end-use 3D simulation with TexPro. The 3D simulation work suggests that this textile pattern is suitable for women's outerwear, mufflers, and tote bags. Textile design work 2 conveyed the 'wealth and eternal prosperity' design theme and had a graceful mood that embodied the nobility of the lotus flower whilst also encompassing the symbolism of money and status. The end design is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Chinese patterns and motifs. As such, it is hoped that it will satisfy the needs of young consumers for cultural values yet offer a unique new aesthetic distinct from existing textile designs. These qualities can be expected to enhance the competitive market value of textiles bearing this design.

Throughout her life time, Edith Head produced cinema costumes for over one thousand movies. She was the leading cinema costume designer in Hollywood. Since the Academy Awards added the area of costume design to be recognized [during 33 years of her work(1948∼1981)], she was nominated 35 times an awarded eight times. However, there were no significant studies done on her work or accomplishments although she was acknowledged as an ingenue and creative designer who elicited artistic effects by reflect character's images through their costumes. The purpose of the study was focused on revealing Edith Head's life and work as her creations had a great impact in he field of cinema costumes. It was also to emphasize the forceful affect of cinema costumes on fashion and to disclose the powerful influence of cinema costume designers. The method of the study includes reviews of literature, movies for which she created costumes, her own possessions, and fashion magazines as well as her works that were nominated and chosen for the Academy Awards. Edith head's emphasis in costume design was based on a blend of both simplicity and sophistication avoiding excessive exaggeration and transformation in her work. Her work was also realistic and contemporary. She developed a dramatic ambience through an innovative design while preserving the actor's individual character and uniqueness. Through this accept her her work was highly renowned as an art form as it was gaining popularity. She was also a dominant figure who influenced trends in the areas of fashion magazines, uniforms, and public clothing. In the review of her cinema costumes, it was revealed that the styles of cinema costumes can be as quickly adapted by the public as movies are viewed because the cinema costumes are highly projected through a visual channel. Subsequently, a follow up study on the affect of cinema costumes on fashion would be beneficial.

Because submarine is high-technology and very complex system, it takes a lot of time, cost and manpower for design. For efficient concept design, application of systematic method is required such as system engineering. In this study, we studied application method of MBSE for submarine concept design with SWBS (Ship Work Breakdown Structure). Components of submarine system from SWBS were classified and organized as system architecture with 'Vitech CORE'. Through the MBSE application for concept design, systematic, efficient and traceable concept design of submarine was considered.

This work is intended to develop a flapping-type vertical wind turbine system that will be applicable to diesel generators and wind turbine generator hybrid systems. In the aerodynamic design of the wind turbine blade, parametric studies were performed to determine an optimum aerodynamic configuration. After the aerodynamic design, the structural design of the blade was performed. The major structural components of the flapping-type wind turbine are the flapping blade, the connecting part, and the stopper. The primary focus of this work is the design and analysis of the connecting part. Structural tests were performed to evaluate the blade design, and the test results were compared with the results of the analysis.
