Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of VC investment on the IPO and post-IPO performance of Chinese firms. Design/methodology/approach - By utilizing CSMAR and VentureXpert database, we construct a firm-year panel data covering all listed firms in the Chinese stock market from 2006 to 2018. Findings - First, we find that VC-backed firms are significantly less underpriced than non-VC-backed firms. Our results show that the initial IPO-day return of VC-backed firms is 0.16% lower than that of non-VC-backed firms. Next, we find that VC-backed firms demonstrate significantly worse operating performance than non-VC-backed firms after the IPO. In the next three years following the IPO, VC-backed firms underperform non-VC-backed firms by 0.4% in terms of ROA and by 0.6% in terms of ROE. Research implications or Originality - Our results support the Grandstanding Hypothesis, among several competing hypotheses regarding the effect of VC investment, which suggests that VCs window dress their IPO firms for their early exit at the expense of a poor operating performance of the IPO firms after going public.

Purpose: This study empirically examines the relations among corporate performance, technology, and corporate capabilities for service companies to find factors that could affect the competitiveness of the service industry. Most study on technology in the service industry have been conducted in developed countries, and yet there exist not sufficient empirical reviews. Research design, data and methodology: This paper, using rare empirical data, examines Korea's service industry and aims to make an academic and managerial contribution to the understanding of the relation between corporate competence and performance. This study analyzes 567 Korean Domestic Companies in Non-manufacturing and Service Industry, using the 2020 Detailed Survey of Venture Businesses (2500) data. Frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis are performed. Results: Results show, Hypothesis 1 that internal competence has positive influence on technological strength, is supported. However, Hypothesis 2 that technological strength mediates between internal competence and business performance, Hypothesis 3 that external competence has positive influence on technological strength and Hypothesis 4 that technological strength mediates between external competence and business performance are all partially supported/rejected. Conclusions: This study suggests that technological strength is an important factor that affects both market share and sales. And mediating effect of technology strength emphasized in market share. However, in managing sales, more cautious approach and a more detailed analysis are needed..

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of entrepreneurial experience, business model innovation and financing on new venture performance. Design/methodology/approach - This study analyzes survey data on new ventures in Korea and investigated research hypothesis by multiple regression analysis. Findings - Founders' prior startup experience have different impacts on performance depending on whether they had a successful or failed startup. Successful experience has a positive impact on early performance, while failure experience has a negative impact. Business model innovation shows a positive and significant relationship with early performance. External financing has different effects depending on the type of funding source and performance variables. VC funding is positively related to employment creation, while government R&D funding is negatively related to sales volume. Research implications or Originality - This study confirms that the impact of entrepreneurial experience on early performance varies depending on the characteristics of successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs. It also empirically confirms that business model innovation has a significant impact on early performance. We empirically examine the relationship between various external financing sources of venture firms and early performance. Since the effects of entrepreneurial experience, business model innovation, and external financing on early stage performance may be different, entrepreneurs should consider these relationships when pursuing early stage business opportunities.

정보 시스템을 구현하는 프로그램을 설계하는 방법은 Flowchart에서 UML의 Activity Diagram에 이르기까지 다양하다. 하지만, 이제까지 개발된 프로그램 설계 도구와 방법은 프로그램 코딩 도구와 방법에 비해서 상대적으로 효율적이지 않았다. 또한 프로그램 설계와 코드 간의 쌍방향 절환이 용이하지 않아 개발 생산성과 유지보수성을 개선하는 데 한계가 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 컴포넌트 기반의 SOC(Structured Object Component)을 지원하는 설계 및 코딩 융복합 자동화 도구 SETL(Structured Efficiency TooL)의 개발을 통해 프로그램 설계와 코딩 단계를 융복합하여 병렬적인 작업이 가능하도록 하는 융복합 개발 방법을 제안한다. 즉, SETL을 사용하면 프로그램 설계와 코딩 간의 절환을 거의 실시간으로 수행할 수 있어, 소프트웨어 개발 공정 단계간의 격차를 해소하여 개발 생산성 및 유지보수성을 극대화 할 수 있다.

중 고등학교에서 공학원리를 학습할 때 실험 실습에 있어서 시공간의 제약으로 공학원리의 학습에 실효성이 떨어지는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 파스칼의 원리 등 유체역학에 관한 학습을 Web Browser에서 구현하고 Flash와 HTML 등을 이용하여 모의실험을 흥미 있게 구현하고자 한다. 유체역학의 교육공학적 설계와 Web 설계를 통하여 실제 Web Server를 통하여 인터넷 초고속 통신망에서 구현한다. 본 연구는 교육공학과 유체역학 및 인터넷 원격교육 발전에 기여 할 것이다.

최근 스마트 폰은 사용의 편리성과 용도의 다양성 때문에 크게 확산 되고 있다. 또 스마트폰의 기능과 용도를 확장 시켜주기 위한 어플리케이션 역시 매일 수십 개씩 쏟아져 나오고 있다. 이미 나와 있는 수 만개의 어플리케이션과, 매일 업데이트 되는 어플리케이션들 사이에서 선호 어플리케이션을 찾기는 쉽지 않은 일이다. 이에 본 연구에선 협력 필터링 기반의 사용자 맞춤형 모바일 어플리케이션 추천시스템을 설계 및 제안한다. 사용자가 선호하는 어플리케이션을 추천 받을 수 있도록 함으로써 사용자에게 선호 정보를 보여 줄 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 어플리케이션의 구매를 유도하여 새로운 가치 창출과 양방향성 마켓플레이스에 일조 할 수 있을 것이다.

집단에 의해 자유롭게 생성되는 데이터 중 댓글을 활용하여 수익을 내려는 포털사이트들이 증가하고 있는 추세이며, 물건이나 콘텐츠에 대한 사용 후기를 바탕으로 평가하는데 있어서 품질이 높을 때와 낮을 때, 사용 후기의 유효성과 신뢰성 판단이 달라진다. 그만큼 댓글은 중요하게 다뤄지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 동영상콘텐츠로부터 추출된 댓글을 활용하여 긍정적인 감성어휘와 부정적인 감성어휘 그리고 강조 감성어휘를 도출하여 평가가 높은 동영상 콘텐츠를 추천하는 모델을 설계하고자 한다.

Web 2.0 시대의 대표적인 콘텐츠인 UCC와 Learning 콘텐츠를 접목시킨다면, 효과적인 지식공유와 습득을 유도할 수 있을 것이다. 두 콘텐츠를 접목시켰을 때 일어날 수 있는 전문성과 신뢰성, 저작권법 관련 등의 문제점을 효과적으로 해결하기 위한 방안으로 History 검색을 제안한다. 또 그에 따른 메타데이터 설계와 데이터 검색방법을 제안한다. 효율적인 UCC기반 Learning history 검색을 위해서 reference 요소관리가 가능하도록 DB를 설계하였다. 저작도구를 이용하여 제작된 Learning UCC는 reference 요소를 통해 소스 콘텐츠에 관한 정보를 가지고 올 수 있으며, reference DB에 저장된 정보에 따라, 사용자에게 reference에 관한 정보들을 효과적으로 제공 할 수 있다. 저작도구를 사용해야 한다는 제한성과 검색 효율성을 보다 개선한다면 Learning UCC를 관리하기 위한 효과적인 시스템이 될 것이다.

최근 정보의 형태는 텍스트나 이미지 기반에서 벗어나 복합 멀티미디어, 즉 동영상 위주로 빠르게 이동하고 있다. 특히 사용자에 의해 제작되고 유통되는 동영상 UCC의 급격한 부상은 사용자의 정보 생산력과 정보 공유, 소비 형태를 능동적으로 변화시키고 있다. PC 뿐 아니라 IPTV에서도 주요 서비스 모델로 관심을 받는 동영상 UCC는 향후 지식 결부형 학습 콘텐츠로 옮아갈 것이라 예상되고 있으며 여기에는 수익 모델의 개발과 저작권 보호 이슈가 해결해야 할 선결 과제로 인식된다. 이에 본 논문은 방송 콘텐츠 제공 표준 기술인 TV-Anytime, 학습객체메타데이터인 LOM(Learning Object Metadata)을 기반으로 OSMU 동영상 UCC 학습 콘텐츠 서비스 모델을 위한 에디터를 설계하고 외부 콘텐츠 소스를 활용할 수 있는 콘텐츠 저작 시나리오에 기반한 메타데이터를 설계하였다. 이를 통해 사용자의 다양한 지식을 활용할 수 있는 UCC 학습 콘텐츠 서비스 모델 발굴과 콘텐츠의 확대 재생산에 있어서 적극적인 저작권 보호가 이루어질 것을 기대한다.
