  • The main design factors which effect on operating speed of linear actuator for valve operation are mass of plunger, electromagnetic motive force, inductance, and return spring, and these factors are not independent but related with each other in view point of design and electromagnetic theory. It is impossible to increase the operating speed by only change the value of any one design factor. The change of any one value results in change of any value related it in various design factors. This paper presents a speed increasing method of linear actuator using a solenoid design method by some governing equations which are composed of electromagnetic theory and empirical knowledge and permanent magnets as assistant material, and proved the propriety by experiments.

  • This study was carried out about the system engineering, the design, and Mock-up for the development of passenger car of Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The design was studied to carbody section & lay out, ring, fitting, carbody, electrical system based on Korean-TGV. The design of aluminium alloy carbody which was enabled to reduce the weight of carbody structure and was studied with construction of air-tightness. Air pressure controlled system provided to comfort passenger due to a reduction of difference pressure between inside and outside of passenger room on running of the tunnel. The Interior design was performed in order to satisfy high speed and comfort to study by the modern design. The electrical system was designed two parts of logic and network for high reliability of train.

  • An approach to model a high-speed monohull vessel is introduced. The high-speed monohull form belonging to the category of multihull is drawing new attention, due to the rapidly growing trend of fast passenger ships and military purpose. Multihull forms are much thinner in their overall shape, compared to those of the conventional commercial vessels. Moreover, the parent hull forms are not readily obtainable when a new design is intended, which makes it hard to perform various technical calculations in terms of hull optimization, hydrodynamic computation, structural design, and so forth. In this paper, a parametric technique is used to design a high-speed hull form. To model a hull form, NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) representation is used. The goal of research is to provide a fast and convenient tool to design an initial hull form with fewer parameters available in the early design stage. The technique employed in this paper will be applied to the design of multihull forms, such as catamaran, trimaran, and semi-swath.

  • 본 논문에서는 차세대 고속철도에 적용하기 위한 IPMSM 견인시스템의 전류 및 속도제어기를 설계한다. 차세대 고속철도는 동력분산식 시스템으로 개발되며 고효율화를 위해 IPMSM 적용 견인전동기를 사용하였고 전동기 제어를 위해 벡터제어 기법을 사용한다. 이 때 벡터제어 루프내 제어기 이득 값은 IPMSM의 과도특성과 속도제어 능력에 영향을 미치기 때문에 알맞은 이득 설계가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 IPMSM 적용 차세대 고속철도용 견인전동기의 제어기를 설계하여 Matlab/Simulink 기반 모의시험 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 이용한 시험 결과를 분석하였다.

  • Sealing of lubricant-air mixture in the high performance machining center is one of most the important characteristics to carry out enhanced lubrication. High speed spindle requires non-contact type of sealing mechanism. Evaluating an optimum seal design to minimize leakage is concerned in the aspect of flow control. Effect of geometry and leakage path are evaluated according to variation of sealing geometry. Velocity, pressure, turbulence intensity of profile is calculated to find more efficient geometry and variables. This offers a methodological way of enhancement seal design for high speed spindle. The working fluid is regarded as two phases that are mixed flow of oil phase and air phase. It is more reasonable to simulate an oil jet or oil mist type high speed spindle lubrication. Turbulence and compressible flow model are used to evaluate a flow characteristic. This paper considers a design effect of sealing capability of non- contact type seals for high speed spindle and analyzes leakage characteristics to minimize a leakage 7 on the same sealing area.

  • This paper presents an elastic deformation model of a spindle unit (S/U), which takes into account the non-linear properties of high-speed ball bearings (particularly the effect of high rotational speed). For this, a software for the estimation of the S/U elastic deformation properties was developed and intended for use by S/U designers. A computer aided analysis of the model using the developed software was carried out and experiments showed the significant effect of rotational speed, cutting load and bearing axial preload, and showed some new phenomena, from which the criteria for the choice of bearing axial preload is given.

  • The tool geometry parameters and cutting process have complex relationships. Until now, various cutting test were needed to acquire optimal design of end mill for the purpose of high speed machining, due to the insufficient knowledge about cutting process in high speed machining. Using various tools with different geometry, relationships between tool geometry parameter (rake angle, clearance angle, length of cutter) and cutting process (cutting force, surface accuracy, surface roughness) have been studied. Acquired data can be used to design optimal tool for high speed machining and to develop a software for design of end mill geometry.

  • The operation frequency of High-speed Communication System becomes very fast with the advanced technology of VLSI chips and system implementation. There may exist various types of noise sources degrading the signal integrity in this system. The present main system is made of backplane, so faults can be brought whenever a board is removed, replaced or added. This backplane boards testing is a very important process to verify the operation of system. firstly, we model the effects of the internal noises in the High-speed Communication System to the signal line and propose a new design method to minimize these effects. For the design methodology, we derive the characterization value for each mode land them construct the optimal simulation model. We compare the result of own proposing method with that fo the existing methods, through simulation and show that the quality of High-speed Communication System is significantly enhanced. Secondary our proposing BIST for the Backplane Boards Testing is designed to guarantee that there is no fault in the high-speed communication system.

  • This study is to establish design method and evaluation technology for drive system appropriate to high speed tilting train. The transmission system of high speed train serves in the severe condition compared with those of KHST(G7), namely, they have to transmit high power to run with high speed and they have to make maximum use of the limited space. This paper reports the reviews and results of the design and evaluation method for reduction gearbox of high speed tilting train and discusses various design items and methods about assembly and parts of reduction gearbox.

Numerical Design and Performance Prediction of Low Specific Speed Centrifugal Pump Impeller

  • In this paper, Based on Two-dimensional Flow Theory, adopting quasi-orthogonal method and point-by-point integration method to design the impeller of the low specific speed centrifugal pump by code, and using RANS (Reynolds Averaged N-S) Equation with a standard k-${\varepsilon}$ two-equation turbulence model and log-law wall function to solve 3D turbulent flow field in the impeller of the low specific speed pump. An analysis of the influences of the blade profile on velocity distributions, pressure distributions and pump performance and the investigation of the flow regulation pattern in the impeller of the centrifugal pump are presented. And the result shows that this method can be used as a new way in low speed centrifugal pump impeller design.
