The optimum specifications and design of distributive transformers (배전용 변압기의 합리적인 사양과 그 설계법)

  • Firstly, this study has analyzed the following factors affecting the optimum specifications and design of distributive transformers: 1. Facilities installation cost per unit power output. 2. Facilities operating & maintenance cost per unit power output. 3. Production cost per unit power output. 4. Load factor. 5. Loss factor. Secondly, it has clarified the relations between the following factors and the specifications and design of distributive transformers; 1. No-load loss., 2. Load loss., 3. Voltage regulation., 4. Exciting current. Finally, it has determined the method of the most economic design for the transformers using the above factors and relations, and, for optimum the illustrative purpose, suggested their optimum specifications, way of evaluation, and merits by means of typical example.

  • This paper is to propose various safety design models of tolerance specifications with different consumer requirements. In these models, tolerance specifications can be jointly determined by considering all the stochastic, economic, robust and engineering safety design factors with various characteristics of interest. In this paper, the proposed models are easily formulated for design engineers.

  • Since optical systems are used for various applications, there are many designs, depending on the purpose and optical specifications, even though they have similar formations. Optical aberrations of a system are affected by both structure and specifications. Thus, it is very difficult to find the special characteristics of an optical design by using aberration analysis only. Regardless of specifications, a new method to investigate the aberration characteristics of an optical design is presented, using dimensionless design parameters. Four kinds of triplet designs with different applications and specifications are analyzed as examples.

  • U-Channel Bridge is effective bridge type, because its edge beam performs role of barrier and enables to reduce additional dead loads. Although it is effective to reduce additional dead loads, there is possibility of bridge collapse under impact load due to car crash. Also, edge beam must have ability to induce safe driving and prevent falling accidents. Therefore, it requires behavior analysis and property investigation through the vehicle impact crashing edge beam. This study presents method of structural analysis of U-channel bridge and investigates design specifications for the effect of the edge beam under the vehicle impact. Also, it carries out stability investigation of behavior of edge beam and slab, based on Korean Highway Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification.

  • Prioritizing the design specifications among many alternatives is necessary at the stage of concept design. Design specifications have trade-offs between cost and performance, and the relationships among them, in the standpoint of various functional requirements, are complex. AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method is one of the most popular ways of solving the priority setting problem. However, it is impossible to monitor the interim findings in the middle of the process, it is hard to predict the difference when changing pairwise comparison conditions, and the operation done by one person makes it hard to share the process simultaneously. This paper shows a new method of priority setting in this kind of decision making problem. This method is designed to support the realtime priority setting among many design specifications with regards to many functional requirements. A new algorithm and visualization methods are introduced, and the usability is verified in an exemplary concept design stage.

  • In the actual system development site, the various specifications are drawn up into each phase, namely analysis, design, development and implementation, beginning with the analysis of user requirements and data involved. The part of the specifications are continuously drawn up by using automated tool, but all specification are not automatically drawn up. Therefore, many inconsistent items occur between the specifications. In this paper, we propose the method which detects the error which is included in the specifications, and we are going to design and implement a specification error detection system based on this.

Investigation of chair design and muskuloskeletal discomfort of office workers (사무 좌식 작업자의 골격근육계 불편함 분석 및 의자 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study are twofold : (1) to investigate musculoskeletal discomfort for sedentary workers in offices ane (2) to revise the Korean Standard for the design of office chairs in order to reduce or eliminate the physical discomfort or the office workers. Two hundred seventy-one office workers from nineteen different companies companies were selected to evaluate the musculoskeletal discomfort and indibidual features of chair design. A statistical analysis of the survey rebealed that the office currently being used had two major deficiencies such as insufficient adjustability and inappropriate design specifications in ergonomic sense. A stepwise regression analysis showed that the deficiencies on the musculoskeletal discomfort of the workers. Based on the ergonomic design pronciples, was debeloped to revise the Korean Standard for the design specifications of office chairs. An application of the methodology was made amend the design specifications of the four factors such as seat pan height, seat pan width, and seat pan inclunation. Their effects were evident in the musculoskeletal discomfort of the workers.

Stability analysis of truss type highway sign support structures

  • The design of truss type sign support structures is based on the guidelines provided by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standard Specifications for Highway Signs, Luminaries and Traffic Signals and the American Institute of Steel Construction Design Specifications. Using these specifications, the column design strength is normally determined using the effective length approach. This approach does not always accurately address all issues associated with frame stability, including the actual end conditions of the individual members, variations of the loads in the members, and the resulting sidesway buckling for truss type sign support structures. This paper provides insight into the problems with the simplified design approach for determining the effective lengths and discusses different approaches for overcoming these simplifications. A system buckling approach, also known as a rational buckling analysis, is used in this study to determine improved predictions for design strength of truss type sign support structures.

  • Design of main and crescent bridges in Palm Jebel Ali, Dubai, is based on AASHTO LRFD. Additional standards and reports are also considered to reflect regional conditions. In addition, JAFZA's Bridge Design Guideline is reviewed for their approval. This article focuses on modified design requirements such as load and durability fit to the middle east area. Technical specifications are mentioned briefly.

  • It is increased electrical energy consumption with the development of intelligence society in buildings and thus an energy conservation through efficient use of electricity and reliability, safety, etc became more important. This research paper intensively investigated performance based construction specifications and design criteria of electrical installations in domestic and foreign country. It is necessary to analyze the key features based on performance and general trend about contractor guarantee, warranty method, performance design criteria from the investigated data. This paper shows a reasonable performance based construction specifications and design criteria of electrical installations.
