For the development of system framework which provides multidisciplinary design environment, the integration of analysis codes written in various computer languages, the integration of CAD and DBMS, and the development of complex GUI are indispensible In this study, three different design frameworks which have been developed in Konkuk University with the aids of a company and other university, are compared and analyzed with respect to the analysis code integration method and the module interface technique. Moreover, the way to develop an efficient framework is proposed.

Recently, IALA has introduced AIS AtoN and standardized Aids to Navigation communication system and the World-wide IALA-Net has announced plans to build the system. Systematic beacon network may offer opportunities to make infrastructure for information service and upgrade AtoN service performance. This paper proposes Aids to Navigation information service network for e-NAV. Network based on AIS is consist of AIS AtoN channels as Real, Synthetic or Virtual AIS AtoN. And inner network is consist of Wireless networks as AIS, WCDMA, WIFI, WlBRO, USN or VSAT. Introducing of various network systems can lead to combine and design among land, beacon and service network infrastructures.

Nowadays, implantable hearing aids have been developed to solve the problems of conventional hearing aids. In case of fully implantable hearing aids, an implantable microphone is necessary to receive sound signal beneath the skin. Normally, an implantable microphone has poor frequency response characteristics in high frequency bands of acoustic signal due to the high frequency attenuation effect of skin after implantation to human body. In this paper, the implantable microphone is designed to reduce the high frequency attenuation effect of a skin by putting its resonance frequency at the attenuated range through a finite element analysis (FEA) simulation. The designed implantable microphone through the simulated results has been fabricated by manufacturing process using bio-compatible materials. By the several in-vitro experiments with pig skin, it has been verified that the designed implantable microphone has a resonance frequency around the starting part of the attenuated range and reduces the attenuation effect.

This study was conducted as a part of long-term project on the development of a set of design guidelines for a crutch as mobility aids for the handicapped in the lower extremity and the suggestion a practical solution for a crutch design. The purpose of this study is to develop a design of a crutch and a set of prototypes that reflects the characteristics of crutch-gait and has a realistic possibility for mass production-based industry. TOGO, a axillary crutch as the result of this study, shows a number of characteristics distinguished from ordinary crutches. These are (1)Minimize the shock associated with planting of the crutch tips by improving the form and structure of crutch tip and axillary pad, (2)Ergonomically designed crutch in accordance with users' body movement while walking on crutches, (3)Easy length control to maximize mobility and maneuverability by changing the cross section of the crutch revolutionary, (4)Minimize possibilities of safety hazards, and (5)Attractive shape of the crutch to keep user self-esteem. The revolutionary crutch derived from this study results has been patented, and the company is seeking to mass-produce and find ways to commercialize it after reviewing the potential problems that may arise in the mass production environment.

This paper describes recently developed PC based Aids to Navigation Training Simulator (AtoN-TS) using Virtual Reality Modeling language (VRML). The purpose of AtoN-TS is to train entry-level cadets to reduce the amount of sea-time training. The practical application procedure of VR technology to implement AtoN-TS is represented. The construction method of virtual waterway world, according to the guidelines of International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) is proposed. Design concepts and simulation experiments are also discussed. Results from trial tests and evaluations by subject assessment, provide practical insight on the importance of AtoN-TS.

Inertial Navigation System(INS) can provide the vehicle position and velocity information using inertial sensor outputs without the use of external aids. Unfortunately INS navigation error increases with time due to inertial sensor errors, and therefore it is desirable to combine INS with external aids such as GPS, TACAN, OMEGA, and etc.. In this paper we propose an integration algorithm of commercial GPS/GLONASS and INS where an adaptive filter for signal processing of GPS/GLONASS receiver and the 12th order Kalman filter for aided strapdown INS(SDINS) we employed. Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive filter can effectively remove a randomly occurring abrupt jump due to sudden corruption of the received satellite signal and that the Kalman filter performs satisfactorily.

As the importance of maritime communication in a cross-cultural onboard working environment grows, the importance of developing systematic supporting aids both for learning and teaching maritime English has been emphasized. Given that English communication proficiency is one of the most critical factors in determining a seafarer's competency, a systemic supporting system for enhancing maritime English communication capabilities is essential not only for them to professionally carry out and conduct assigned duties onboard, but also for them to navigate success in their lives through increased labour mobility both at sea and onshore. The APEC Seafarers Excellence Network initiates the production of Maritime English Communication Packages for seafarers in APEC regions, under the leadership of the Republic of Korea. This paper introduces the design of APEC SEN Maritime English Communication Packages, which include textbooks, audio-lingual materials, online/mobile life-long learning platform and testing aids, ultimately for upand re-skilling of seafarers to increase their employability, mobility and preparedness for the future shipping industry where globalisation is expected to further accelerate.

A service platform was designed to provide smart aids to navigation services with the standardized format and to manage user authentication and access rights. To meet the requirements of the service platform, Keycloak, an open source OIDC implementation, was used for user authentication, and the S-100 feature catalogue versioning method was used for service management. To standardize internal service data to S-100, we designed a minimum standard format for mapping internal service data to S-100 data using JSON Schema.

In this study, we try to understand the present condition of elderly housing facilities in Contra Costa County, California, USA. We got the basic information of 92 facilities through the interview with the chief of elderly housing department in Contra Costa County, California. In practical way of research, this study bears various components of the elderly housing facilities, which are type of facility, financial aids, type of apartment, and provided living services. The short summerising of researches are; The present conditions of elderly housing facilities can be classified as Independent Living(53), Congregate Housing(23), Assisted Living(33), Dementia Care(12). The financial aid conditions are shown like SSI, HA, HUD. The types of apartment are studio type, 1 bedroom type, 2 bedroom type. These facilities provides meals, housekeeping, transportation, small pets. As a result of studying the present condition of elderly housing facilities in Contra Costa County, we propose the basic statistical report on the most general type of housing, financial aids, type of services that people of the states want to get.

Currently, general educational science experiment teaching aids cannot be accurately measured, and even MBL experiment teaching aids consist of sensor-oriented programs that is difficult to actively design experiments by focusing only on securing data. This study envisioned a science experiment parish system capable of software convergence experiment design through curriculum analysis, and designed the entire system architecture, frame, and mechanism of MBL-based science experiment parish system by supplementing the limitations of the existing experiment.
