Multiple Human Tracking using Mean Shift and Depth Map with a Moving Stereo Camera (카메라 이동환경에서 mean shift와 깊이 지도를 결합한 다수 인체 추적)

  • In this paper, we propose multiple human tracking with an moving stereo camera. The tracking process is based on mean shift algorithm which is using color information of the target. Color based tracking approach is invariant to translation and rotation of the target but, it has several problems. Because of mean shift uses color distribution, it is sensitive to color distribution of background and targets. In order to solve this problem, we combine color and depth information of target. Also, we build human body part model to handle occlusions and we have created adaptive box scale. As a result, the proposed method is simple and efficient to track multiple humans in real time.

  • We present a method that enhances the rendering speed of z-buffer algorithm using temporal coherence between two contiguous frames on fixed viewing conditions. Conventional z-buffer algorithm stores depth value for each pixel on a view plane while rendering some polygons, then it determines the visibility of the remaining polygons based on the stored depth values. If we can get color and depth information for some polygons without rendering, it is possible to generate an image by rendering only the remaining ones. In case of high frame rate, we can find the fact that sets of static polygons of the two contiguous frames are almost the same. This temporal coherence enables us to get the color and depth information of static polygons efficiently. Our algorithm stores color and depth information of static polygons and reuses it for generating the next frame. This method can be easily implemented since it does not require complex data structure and modification for conventional z-buffer algorithm. Also it is adequate for hardware implementation.

  • Laser induced surface hardening of Tool steel(STC5) can be achieved either with or without surface melting. In trans-formation hardening as the surface is heated to a temperature below its melting point and is rapidly cooled solidified microstructures are usually much finer and stronger than those of the base matals. For this reason surface modification of tool steel by YAG laser irradiation has been studied as a function of processing parameters such as power density pulse width defocusing distance and molten depth. The high energy density changes and refines the microstructure of the near surface layer. In the case of beam passes martensite formed in the melt zone exhibited very high vickers hardness values. Molten depth and width depend on defocusing distance and energy of black color painting is more absorptive than other color painting.

  • In this paper we propose a new method for modeling indoor environment with stereo camera and suggest a localization method for mobile robot navigation on the basis of it. From the viewpoint of easiness in map building and exclusion of artificiality, the main idea of this paper is that environment is represented as global topological map and each node has omni-directional metric and color information by using stereo camera and pan/tilt mechanism. 3D Integral Imaging Display using Axially Recorded Multiple Images

  • In this paper, we propose a 3D display method combining a pickup process using axially recorded multiple images and an integral imaging display process. First, we extract the color and depth information of 3D objects for displaying 3D images from axially recorded multiple 2D images. Next, using the extracted depth map and color images, elemental images are computationally synthesized based on a ray mapping model between 3D space and an elemental image plane. Finally, we display 3D images optically by an integral imaging system with a lenslet array. To show the usefulness of the proposed system, we carry out optical experiments for 3D objects and present the experimental results.

  • In this paper, we propose a character floating hologram system using the user's gender and age. The proposed system recognizes the gender and age of the user through depth images and color images. The depth images are used to find and normalize facial position. Next, by using facial color images, the age and gender are estimated through an verified database-based model of CNN. Finally, the estimated age and gender are expressed to a character for the floating hologram. The proposed system can be used in a variety of areas, including marketing, advertising, and exhibition events using gender or age.

Real-time Eye Contact System Using a Kinect Depth Camera for Realistic Telepresence (Kinect 깊이 카메라를 이용한 실감 원격 영상회의의 시선 맞춤 시스템)

  • In this paper, we present a real-time eye contact system for realistic telepresence using a Kinect depth camera. In order to generate the eye contact image, we capture a pair of color and depth video. Then, the foreground single user is separated from the background. Since the raw depth data includes several types of noises, we perform a joint bilateral filtering method. We apply the discontinuity-adaptive depth filter to the filtered depth map to reduce the disocclusion area. From the color image and the preprocessed depth map, we construct a user mesh model at the virtual viewpoint. The entire system is implemented through GPU-based parallel programming for real-time processing. Experimental results have shown that the proposed eye contact system is efficient in realizing eye contact, providing the realistic telepresence.

An Analysis of Color Preference According to Human Nature (인성에 따른 색의 선호도에 대한 분석)

  • The analysis has an objective of presenting a standard of human image making by producing results of characteristics and individual human image of each color appropriate for the personality through enneagram that is a personality analysis program. The study was done on 200 adults living in the whole country from Oct. 4 to Oct. 18th, 2004. In the survey, 11 colors were selected. The followings show the 9 personalities. 1.Instinct type preferred Blue(blue+navy) color. 2. Feeling type preferred Red(red+orange) color. 3. Thinking type preferred Yellow(yellow+green) color. The study results tend to match the expected preference of color for each personality. In the Human image management, the individual distinction of 3 personality classes need to be analyzed in order to develop individual and created personality by preferred color. It is very important to examine the image for color each personality pursuits through the analysis. Also, there need to more participants of the study so that results can be analyzed more inclusively and there should more in-depth study.

  • In this paper, depth of foreground is analysed by focus and color analysis grouping for 2D/3D video conversion and depth of foreground progressing method is preposed by using focus and motion information. Candidate foreground image is generated by estimated movement of image focus information for extracting foreground from 2D video. Area of foreground is extracted by filling progress using color analysis on hole area of inner object existing candidate foreground image. Depth information is generated by analysing value of focus existing on actual frame for allocating depth at generated foreground area. Depth information is allocated by weighting motion information. Results of previous proposed algorithm is compared with proposed method from this paper for evaluating the quality of generated depth information.

Generation of an eye-contacted view using color and depth cameras (컬러와 깊이 카메라를 이용한 시점 일치 영상 생성 기법)

  • Generally, a camera isn't located at the center of display in a tele-presence system and it causes an incorrect eye contact between speakers which reduce the realistic feeling during the conversation. To solve this incorrect eye contact problem, we newly propose an intermediate view reconstruction algorithm using both a color camera and a depth camera and applying for the depth image based rendering (DIBR) algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, an efficient hole filling method using the arithmetic mean value of neighbor pixels and an efficient boundary noise removal method by expanding the edge region of depth image are included. We show that the generated eye-contacted image has good quality through experiments.
