  • The purpose of this study was to provide a brassiere size chart for making the well-fitted brassiere. The subjects are 2811 women whose range of age is 12 to 59. These woman were classified into 5 age groups by seniority ; age group 1(12~19), age group 2(20~29), age group 3(30~39), age group 4(40~49), age group 5(50~59). statistical differences of measurements were analyzed among 5 age groups through ANOVA. Correlation between measurements were analyzed by correlation analysis. In addition, new brassiere size chart and production rate tables were proposed in this study. The results of the study were as follows. 1) Most of the body measurements were significantly different among 5 age groups. The height was decreasing by getting older while weight was increasing significantly. The 3 girth measurements(top bust, bust, under bust girth) in breast, bust width, bust depth were apt to increase definitely. The 3 girth measurements had high Correlation coefficients among 3 girth mesurements. Therefore, it is valid to pick out cup size and under bust girth for representative items of size chart. 2) Under bust girth and cup size were chosen as 2 axes of brassiere size chart. From the dual distribution table whose intervals had been determined by KS size chart, 17 sizes, which had more than 2% of appearance, were suggested for brassiere size chart. Through these new size charts, the suggested brassiere sizes covered 82.5% of all subjects. The suggested brassiere size chart would be more helpful than KS size chart in making the well-fitted brassiere.

  • Classic braced walls use struts and wales to minimize ground movements induced by deep excavation. However, the installation of struts and wales is a time-consuming process and confines the work space. To secure a work space around the retaining structure, an anchoring system works in conjunction with a braced wall. However, anchoring cannot perform well when the shear strength of soil is low. In such a case, innovative retaining systems are required in excavation. This study proposes an innovative earth-retaining wall that uses in situ soil confined in dual sheet piles as a structural component. A numerical study was conducted to evaluate the stability of the proposed structure in cohesionless dry soil and establish a design chart. The displacement and factor of safety of the structural member were monitored and evaluated. According to the results, an increase in the clearance distance increases the depth of safe excavation. For a conservative design to secure the stability of the earth-retaining structure in cohesionless dry soil, the clearance distance should exceed 2 m, and the embedded depth should exceed 40% of the wall height. The results suggest that the proposed method can be used for 14 m of excavation without any internal support structure. The design chart can be used for the preliminary design of an earth-retaining structure using in situ soil with dual steel sheet piles in cohesionless dry soil.

  • Electronic Navigational Chart is a sophisticated digital chart which contains navigational information such as coastline, depth of water, and nautical mark. It contains high levels of textual, spatial and graphical data, and rapidly replaces traditional paper charts. Although Electronic Navigational Chart has been successfully applied to the navigation of ships, the specific data format, S-57, requires some specialized systems. Furthermore its usage may be limited to specific domains and experts with restrictions. To overcome these limitations resulting from the specific data format, S-57, of Electronic Navigational Chart, more general data format such as XML will be preferred. If Electronic Navigational Chart is transformed into the form of XML, it can be easily accessed and exchanged on the internet. Therefore it may be used for more users and applications. In this paper, we propose an XML. Schema to equivalently represent XML for the S-57 format of Electronic Navigational Chart and develop a program translating the S-57 Electronic Navigational chart to XML document according to the proposed XML schema.

  • Depth of water information is obtained mainly from echo-sounding instrument which observes the round-trip time of signal from water surface to the bottom. Photogrammetry, underwater survey and laser survey etc. are also used as another method of bathymetric surveying. These methods are used specially for making track chart in a shallow water area. On the other hand, aircraft or satellite imagery ara also used in the sea area where the effect of suspended material is low and water quality is good. Presently, general bathymetric surveying has been performed in our country, but the spatial density of surveyed point are relatively low. Therefore, in this study we built a grid water depth chart which measured combing echosounder with GPS-RTK method and the depth accuracy was analyzed by using the data of direct survey water depth. As a results, the bathymatric mapping which use echosounder is more economical method compared to the existing methods.

  • In this study, a series of three-dimensional numerical analyses were carried out to investigate the penetration performance of a dynamically installed Hall anchor. The advanced coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) technique was adopted to accurately simulate the large soil deformation during the vertical penetration of a Hall anchor. In total, 52 numerical analyses were conducted to investigate the relationship between anchor penetration depth and the initial kinematic energy. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis was performed to investigate the effects of soil shear strength and soil type on the penetration mechanism of a drop anchor under self-weight. There is a monotonic increase in the penetration depth with an increasing anchor weight when the topsoil of the riverbed is not subjected to erosion. On the other hand, all the computed depths significantly increase when soil erosion is taken into consideration. This is mainly due to an enhanced initial kinematic energy from an increased dropping depth. Both depths increase exponentially with the initial kinematic energy. An enhanced shear strength can potentially increase the side resistance and end-bearing pressure around a drop anchor, thus significantly reducing the downward penetration of a hall anchor. Design charts are developed to directly estimate penetration depth and associated plastic zone due to dynamically installed anchor at arbitrary soil shear strength and anchor kinematic energy.

  • The ships over the certain navigation area or her length are required to carry charts under the relevant laws. Charts are indispensible to the ships and fishing vessel, because their crew should know the water depth and location of obstacle in order to avoid danger in the navigation and fishing area. But it was found that many ships do not carry proper charts onboard according to the research marine accidents files of marine accident inquiry agency, and questionnaire survey. Consequently, many ships run aground on the coast and port. This study examined the present status of the coastal ship and the fishing vessels, and explained some problems in the aspect of the covering area, the place, the number of the selling agent and adjoining chart, as well as the geographical and traffic density, the crew on board the ship's characteristics, and so on. In this study we propose the way to solve the problem. firstly, the category of the fishing vessel which should carry the chart on bard under the related laws are required to be lowered to 10 gross tons. Besides a ship inspector should examine if the charts covering the area where to navigate even when the temporary inspection is done are carried on board property. Secondly, the inspection body or the controlling office of ship's entry and departure should check throughly whether the ships concerned carry the chart on board. Thirdly the fishing vessels should used the fishing charts, and the body concerned should train the offices about how to use chart, especiany the difference between Tokyo datum and WGS-84 datum. Fourthly the customized chart such as an atlas like a map, a calenda-type chart, a small chart, as a coated chart needs to be publish for the safety of small ship and fishing vessel. Fifthly, it is advisable to draw a recommended course in the route where the coastal navigate mainly and in the narrow channel, The adjoining area should be improved, as well as the qualify of the chart paper. Sixthly, publication of additional new chart in the southern part of East Sea, the eastern part of South Sea, the western part of South Sea and middle part of Yellow Sea near Incheon port should be thought over. Seventhly, the number of chart selling agent should be increased for the sake of purchaser in proportion to the number of port, and small correction of charts in selling agent must be carried out completely.

  • Continuous depth data are often required in applications of both onboard systems and maritime simulation. But data available are usually discrete and irregularly distributed. Based on the neuron network technique, methods of interpolation to the charted depth are suggested in this paper. Two algorithms based on Levenberg-Marquardt back-propaganda and radial-basis function networks are investigated respectively. A dynamic neuron network system is developed which satisfies both real time and mass processing applications. Using hyperbolic paraboloid and typical chart area, effectiveness of the algorithms is tested and error analysis presented. Special process in practical applications such as partition of lager areas, normalization and selection of depth contour data are also illustrated.
