  • There is no single or simple answer for effective communication between laboratory technician and clinical dentist. Love-hate could be used to describe the relationship between dentists and their labs. Great lab work can make a dentists life much easier and can result in getting many referrals. However, if the lab work is not up to par and/or late, it can add stress and agony to a dentists practice. Also the opposition is right. If the preparations are calibrated, the impressions clear, and the bite registrations accurate, most labs can do their work reasonably well. Unfortunately, many cases received by labs are barely adequate, especially when it comes to reading margins, which are frequently created by the imagination of the person trimming the dies. In other words, both dentists and lab technicians need to be able to understand how each party operates so that solutions to problems can be found. Effective communication with the laboratory is critical if any degree of success is desired.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure the tightening torque for dental implant in dental laboratory and to analyze of the effects of different tightening torque. Materials and Methods: The tightening torque for dental implant in dental laboratory were measured by digital torque gauge. The length of abutment and analog were measured as tightening torque of manufacturer's instructions and the measured value. And the data were statically analyzed. Results: The mean tightening torque of implant screw in dental laboratory was $1.563{\pm}0.332Ncm$. The external type implant system of total length were showing no significant differences but the internal type implant system had difference significant (P < 0.05) when compared with tightening torque. Conclusion: The implant prosthesis should be made under manufacturer's instructions especially as tightening torque of screw. For the fidelity of implant prosthesis, dental technician should learn how to use the torque gauge.

Survey was carried out from October 11, 2010 to November 25, 2010 by using self-administered questionnaire. The following are the analytical results in the collected data. The average in the self- health recognition was indicated to be high with 2.83, The average of health behavior was indicated to be high with 2.76. As for correlation between self health recognition and health behavior, most of variables were indicated to have reverse correlation, it was concluded that higher health behavior likely led to lower self health recognition. From the result of this study, the work environment of dental technician must be improved and do more Practice of Health Behavior to improve and maintain their health.

  • The word 'aesthetic', one of three functions of the teeth - mastication, pronunciation, and aesthetic - does not simply mean beauty. Aesthetic missing harmony cannot be called aesthetic. It is true aesthetic when the harmony with surrounding teeth and environment such as lips, midline, and facial form is achieved. In order to produce a harmonious prosthesis, sufficient information must be passed on to a technician, and also the technician should request necessary information to the dental office. Good food cannot be made without fresh ingredients. Although fresh ingredients are supplied, delicious food is also not possible without a chef's cooking skills. The first-class dish is made only under the circumstances that a skilled chef can do his best with fresh ingredients. In this study, the teamwork to be shared between dental practitioners and technicians for harmonious aesthetic prosthesis is discussed.

  • Purpose: The first responder's role during a cardiac arrest scene is to initiate CPR. The AHA has recognized and included the first responder's role for improving the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients. Health personnel working in nursing, emergency care, dental hygiene, radiology, and ocular optics frequently confront sudden cardiac arrest while working. This study was to identify the relationship between the educational experience and recognition with the level of knowledge about CPR for college students. Method: Five hundred forty college students enrolled in the department of nursing science, radiological technology, ocular optics, emergency medical technician, or dental hygiene in Daejeon city were surveyed. The tool used was CPR knowledge developed by the authors based on a literature review including 2005 AHA's CPR guideline. Result: The higher educational experience of CPR was, the higher the level of knowledge. The knowledge of the students in nursing or emergency medical technician was higher than students in dental hygiene, radiology, and ocular optics. Conclusion: CPR class should be included in the curriculum for college students in order to improve their accuracy as a first responder to cardiac arresting patients.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status and satisfaction of dental CAD/CAM system. Methods: A survey of dental technicians was conducted and a total of 353 responses were used for analysis. The satisfaction difference according to career was analyzed by ANOVA and tukey HSD (α = .05). Results: Satisfaction with the design program was 3.64 ± .86, the highest among all items. On the other hand, the satisfaction with price was 2.75 ± 1.02, which was the lowest. The difference according to career was statistically significant in the following items. Frequent breakdown, single crown margin, bridge crown margin, retentivity, price, A/S, equipment training (p<.05). Conclusion: As the materials applied to dental CAD/CAM are expanding and the types of prostheses are diversified, the use rate of CAD/CAM is continuously increasing. The dental CAD/CAM system will need to be improved in a way that will satisfy all patients, dentists and dental technicians.

  • Recently as the interest on Esthetic Dental Prosthesis is arising, the domains of Esthetic Dentistry is being widely investigated. Esthetic Dental Prosthesis is influenced greatly by the shape, color, tooth arrangement of the teeth and the facial features(including the lips). So the degree to which these characters harmonize will be the professional esthetical standard while the satisfaction of the patient will be another esthetical measure. The reason for this is that each and every one of us has a different standard of what is considered beautiful. Of course it doesn't mean that every standard is correct. Then what does Esthetical Prosthesis mean and what should the standard be? This must be defined as a prosthesis that satisfies the basic requirements - margin, contour, occlusion, and at the same time it should restore the shape, color, and tooth arrangement which the client(patient) would love to have. As Esthetic Prosthesis contains its subjective meaning a great deal, it shouldn't be simply distinguished between the beauty of the teeth itself or ugliness. Also in some case, it needs surgical treatment to make it harmonious in the whole aspect so that one may keep the feeling of satisfaction and security. Then what is the shape, color, tooth arrangement that each individual wants? There is an indefinite variety. For example, considering arrangement both regular and irregular is considered beautiful by each different individual. Regular arrangement may be the standard of beauty for some, while irregular arrangement may be thought of as natural looking and beautiful. That is why there must be enough communication with the patient and an agreement be made at the clinic before a diagnostic plan and actual surgery. The treatment plan as mentioned above must be sent to the dental laboratory. In this research, by using case studies, I am going to the importance and appropriateness of the data and information for the dental technician's esthetic prosthesis.
