Recent Development in Rice Seedling Raising in Japan, with Special Reference to the "Nursling Seedlings"

  • Recently, a nursery mat made from rock wool has realized transplanting of the younger seedlings with the ordinary transplanting machines for Chibyo and Chubyo(3 and 4~5 leaved seedling, respectively). The seedlings defined as the 'Nyubyo' or 'Nursling seedlings' became possible to achieve economic profits from the reduction in both working time and costs. It being widely noticed as a strategy to solve the difficulties in current rice cultivation. The nursling seedlings are 1.4 to 2.5 leaves and height at 4.5 to 7cm, grown 4 to 7 days after seeding. They maintain still up to 50 to 80% of their nutrients in the endosperm, and can grow by using only their own nutrients for a certain period of time after transplanting. Nursling seedlings take 2 days in the nursery chamber at 32$^{\circ}C$ after seeding, and 2 days in the greening house at $25^{\circ}C$. This is only 4 days, all together, to make the nursling seedlings of 1.5 leaves which are ready for transplanting. Watering is only needed once at the sowing time. It only takes 1 or 2 waterings even to raise a seedlings for a period of 7 days. The number of nursery boxes can be reduced because it is possible to sow more densely(220 to 240g per box), thus it only needs seedlings of 15 to 16 boxes per 10 a which leads to a reduction in facilities and space needed. Temperature during the nursery period can be artificially adjusted more precisely which may lead to the prevention of temperature stress. The nursling seedlings can root rapid by because the crown roots from the coleoptile node begin to emerge immediately after transplanting. They show strong resistance to low temperature (12$^{\circ}C$) and deep-planting. There is no danger in the rooting of the seedlings even if half of their height is buried into the soil. Moreover, it can root at a rate of up to 65 to 80% even if the full height of the seedlings is buried. They show also strong resistance to submergence (10~15cm). The nursling seedlings tend to grow by producing tillers from lower nodes. It is therefore, necessary to control to keep the proper numbers of tillers per unit area. They have no fear in the delay of heading and their yield components can be so well balanced that the same level of yield was achieved with the nursling seedlings compared to that with Chibyo. It was further suggested that if the surplus tillers can be avoided by such cultivation practices, the number of grain per panicle can be kept greater and higher yield can be realized. Practical experiments with the nursling seedlings conducted in 1989 and 1990 by farmers in various areas showed exciting results.   • In this paper, we will design the speed measurement board of LEO Satellite's reaction wheel which has two speed measuring methods as M-Method type and T-Method type. therefore we can use the advantage of two methods. and we will verify the availability of design on the on-board computer at the real LEO Satellite(KOMPSAT-3). In the reaction wheels satellite that can change the satellite's attitude is one of the leading drivers by the rotational inertia of the motor will perform attitude control. Reaction methods for detecting wheel rotation speed generated during a certain period T internal reaction wheel tacho pulse counting M-Method to detect wheel speed and wheel tacho pulses are generated by measuring the time between the detection rate can be divided into T-Method. M-method is simple to implement and benefit measurement time is constant, but slow fall in the velocity measurement accuracy is a disadvantage. In contrast, the time between tacho pulses to measure the T-Method to measure the precise speed at low speed and to measure the time delay is small, has the advantage. However, this method also in the actual implementation and the complexity of the operation at different speeds depending on the speed of operation has the disadvantage.

  • Traditional live video streaming systems support the limited field of view (FOV) of image to the remote users. A server system based on the pan/tilt camera provides a user with wide view by changing the view direction of the camera mechanically. But, when many clients try to access to the server, this system can not offer their own view to every user simultaneously, and moreover it has the delay by camera motion. In order to offer wide views to several users, we propose new streaming system using the panorama image that has wide view. Our system is a kind of implementation of software pan/tilt camera. The server acquires panorama video and sends a part of the video to clients. Then, each client can control their own view. We need the effective way to reduce the average transmission data size and server burden to the compression because generally the full size of panorama video is too big to be served by the real-time streaming. To solve this problem, we propose an strip-based video compression and adaptive transmission of the compressed multiple strip videos. Experimental results show that our system can be adapted quickly to the change of view and the number of clients. Furthermore, proposed method effectively reduce the transmission data.

Effects of Lycii Fructus and Lycii Folium Extracts on Osteoporosis in Ovariectomized Rats (구기자와 구기엽 추출물이 난소적출 흰쥐의 골다공증에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of Lycii fructus and Lycii folium on osteoporosis and serum cholesterol levels were tested in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. Twenty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups: Sham group (sham-operated), Control group (OVX, ovariectomized model), LCF group (Ovx+Lycii fructus extract), and LCL group (OVX+Lycium folium extract). After 8 weeks, the OVX ($330{\pm}5.39$ g), LCF ($315{\pm}2.99$ g), and LCL ($318{\pm}2.06$ g) groups showed increased body weight compared with sham group ($281{\pm}1.71$ g). The levels of serum osteocalcin (OC) also increased in the LCF ($444.6{\pm}26.9$ ng/mL) and LCL ($407{\pm}18.9$ ng/mL) groups compared with the OVX group ($107{\pm}3.52$ ng/mL). The activities of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) increased in the LCF ($108{\pm}2.7$ U/L) and LCL ($407{\pm}18.9$ ng/mL) groups compared with the OVX group ($95{\pm}2.9$ U/L). Stereomicroscopy found that the low bone density that developed in the OVX group was significantly reversed in the LCF and LCL groups after 8 weeks. We also obtained molecular-based in vivo evidence that supports a mechanism of action involving novel estrogen receptor ($ER{\alpha}$) modulator in the uterus. We found that expression of ER${\alpha}$ mRNA in the OVX rat uterus was elevated by Lycium chinense. These results suggest that Lycii fructus and Lycii folium administered to rats during 8 weeks after oophorectomy may partially recover postmenopausal osteoporosis or delay the progression of osteoporotic changes.

Design and Implementation of Cost-effecive Public Bicycle Sharing System based on IoT and Access Code Distribution (사물 인터넷과 액세스 코드 배포 기반의 경제적인 공공 자전거 공유 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we design and implement a public bicycle sharing system based on smart phone application capable of distributing access codes via internet connection. When smartphone user uses the application to request a bicycle unlock code, server receives the request and sends an encrypted code, which is used to unlock the bicycle at the station and the same code is used to return the bicycle. The station's hardware prototypes were built on top of Internet devices such as raspberry pi, arduino, keypad, and motor driver, and smartphone application basically includes shared bike rental and return functionality. It also includes an additional feature of reservation for a certain time period. We tested the implemented system, and found that it is efficient because it shows the average of 3-4 seconds delay. The system can be implemented to manage multiple bikes with a single control box, and as the user can use a smartphone application, this makes the system more cost effective.

The Cell Resequencing Buffer for the Cell Sequence Integrity Guarantee for the Cyclic Banyan Network (사이클릭 벤얀 망의 셀 순서 무결성 보장을 위한 셀 재배열 버퍼)

  • In this paper, we present the cell resequencing buffer to solve the cell sequence integrity problem of the Cyclic banyan network that is a high-performance fault-tolerant cell switch. By offering multiple paths between input ports and output ports, using the deflection self-routing, the Cyclic banyan switch offer high reliability, and it also solves congestion problem for the internal links of the switch. By the way, these multiple paths can be different lengths for each other. Therefore, the cells departing from an identical source port and arriving at an identical destination port can reach to the output port as the order that is different from the order arriving at input port. The proposed cell resequencing buffer is a hardware sliding window mechanism. to solve such cell sequence integrity problem. To calculate the size of sliding window that cause the prime cost of the presented device, we analyzed the distribution of the cell delay through the simulation analyses under traffic load that have a nonuniform address distribution that express tile Property of traffic of the Internet. Through these analyses, we found out that we can make a cell resequencing buffer by which the cell sequence integrity is to be secured, by using a, few of ordinary memory and control logic. The cell resequencing buffer presented in this paper can be used for other multiple paths switching networks.

DNA Synthesis and Radiosensitivity in Synchronized Human Kidney Cells in Vitro (동화시킨 사람의 신장세포에 있어서의 DNA 합성과 방사선감수성)

  • The effects of X-irradiation on the mitotic activity, the chromosome aberration and the DNA synthetic pattern in synchronized human kidney cells treated with 5-AU were measured in the present experiment. When 5-AU was added, mitotic activity was markedly suppressed. After removal of the cells from the chemical, its activity proceeded synchronouly and reached peaks at hours 10. In 5-AU+100R groups, it was observed the X-ray caused mitotic delay, the irregularity of the time when mitotic peak appeared and the inhibiton of mitotic activity. In the control group, chromosome aerrations per cell was 0.030, whereas 0.147 in 5-AU treated group. In 5-AU+100R and 5-AU+200R groups, chromosome aberrations per cell were 0.583 and 0.669 respectively and the average chromosome aberrations per cell per R was 0.0035. 5-AU increased the frequency of labeled metaphases together with labeling intensity, and this is thought to be due to the accumulation of cells by 5-AU at S stage. On the contrary, X-ray decreased the labeling intensity and the frequency of labeled metaphases.

  • In 2018, the real estate markets have hardly been transacted according to the government's tight regulations of real estates, and have the high possibility to reach a low hit due to the hike of loan interest rates following the U. S rise of base money rate. The key profits for the large construction companies mainly come from the overseas plant projects and the domestic non-governmental construction projects. They suffered a lot such as the lowering of their credit ratings due to the large losses caused by the frquent design changes and work delay. Even in the domestic non-governmental construction projects, the general business risks are on the rise due to the property marketing moving over to the decreasing phase. The small and medium sized security companies has realized a lot of operaring profits as they participated in the PF market to make up for the losses in the securities trading business. But, now as the housing market is not so good around the nation except Seoul and the financial states of large construction companies are not good enough, they can face the liquidity crisis if there happens the problems in the PF backed securities which they have handled. As Korean economy experienced the crisis in the savings banks before, it is recommended that Financial Supervisory Service proposes the preemptive control method and supervision direction to overcome the crisis.

Wall Shear Stress Distribution in the Abdominal Aortic Bifurcation : Influence of wall Motion, Impedance Phase Angle, and non-Newtonian fluid (복부대동맥 분기관에서의 벽면전단응력 분포 벽면운동과 임피던스 페이즈 앵글과 비뉴턴유체의 영향)

  • The present study investigated flow dynamics of a two-dimensional abdominal aortic bifurcation model under sinusoidal flow conditions considering wall motion. impedance phase angle(time delay between pressure and flow waveforms), and non-Newtonian fluid using computational fluid dynamics. The wall shear stress showed large variations in the bifurcated region and the wall motion reduced amplitude of wall shear stress significantly. As the impedance phase angle was changed to more negative values, the mean wall shear stress (time-averaged) decreased while the amplitude (oscillatory) of wall shear stress increased. At the curvature site on the outer wall where the mean wall shear stress approached zero. influence of the phase angle was relatively large. The mean wall shear stress decreased by $50\%$ in the $-90^{\circ}$ phase angle (flow wave advanced pressure wave by a quarter period) compared to the $0^{\circ}$ phase angle while the amplitude of wall shear stress increased by $15\%$. Therefore, hypertensive patients who tend to have large negative phase angles become more vulnerable to atherosclerosis according to the low and oscillatory shear stress theory because of the reduced mean and the increased oscillatory wall shear stresses. Non-Newtonian characteristics of fluid substantially increased the mean wall shear stress resulting in a less vulnerable state to atherosclerosis.

A Systematic Review of Sensory Integration Intervention for Children in Korea (아동을 대상으로 한 감각통합치료의 중재효과에 대한 체계적 고찰: 국내 연구를 중심으로)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to summarize the best-available intervention evidence for children's sensory integration therapy, drawn from studies published domestically in Korea over the last 10 years. Methods : The articles evaluated in this study were collected from the RISS and DBpia databases using the search terms "sensory integration," "sensory processing," and "Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI)". A total of 19 papers were analyzed. The selected studies were then assessed using the Population, Intervention, Outcomes, and Comparison method, the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) method, and the modified Evidence Alert Traffic Light Grading System. Results : Development delay was the most commonly applied diagnosis for children's sensory integration therapy and individual sensory integration therapy was the most frequently used intervention method. The intervention effect was 91 percent in the body structure and function of ICF. The areas concentrated on were sensory modulation, sensory processing, fine and gross motor, body scheme, body-self concept, balance, basic movement, postural control and hand function, attention, and self-esteem. Conclusion : This simple overview of the efficacy of children's sensory integration therapy provides a basis for easy understanding and use by therapists, researchers and families with children.
