  • This paper shows a technique for regulating the rate emitted by UWB mobile terminals. This technique is designed to adapt the emission rate to the effects of channel capacity variations. We assume that individual flows are shaped at edge routers by means of dual leaky buckets. The proposal is based on the evaluation of certain parameters, which reflect the channel status, sent to the application layer. This information is generated by the scheduler designed to guarantee appropriate channel sharing for the various traffic components. We describe some results which highlight how performance depends on the specific operating conditions, as well as on the traffic descriptors of the flows, their reciprocal difference, and performance requirements.

  • The flash memory has been remarked as the next generation media of portable and desktop computers' storage devices. Their features include non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations, which are sufficient to present flash memories as major data storage components for desktop and servers. The purpose of our study is to upgrade a traditional mirroring scheme based on SSD storages due to the relatively slow or freezing characteristics of write operations, as compared to fast read operations. For this work, we propose a new storage management scheme called Memory Mirror-Switching based on traditional mirroring scheme. Our Mirror-Switching scheme improves flash operation performance by switching write-workloads from flash memory to RAM and delaying write operations to avoid freezing. Our test results show that our scheme significantly reduces the write operation delay and storage freezing.

  • Ultra-low latency control is one of the characteristics of 5G cellular network services, which means that the control loop is handled in milliseconds. To achieve this, it is necessary to identify time delay factors that occur in all components related to CPS control loop, including new 5G cellular network elements such as MEC, and to optimize CPS control loop in real time. In this paper, a novel CPS architecture for ultra-low latency control of CPS is designed. We first define the ultra-low latency characteristics of CPS and the CPS concept model, and then propose the design of the control loop performance monitor (CLPM) to manage the timing information of CPS control loop. Finally, a case study of MEC-based implementation of ultra-low latency CPS reviews the feasibility of future applications.

  • Intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) develop through the continuous interaction with intestinal antigens such as commensal microbiome and diet. However, their respective roles and mutual interactions in the development of IELs are largely unknown. Here, we showed that dietary antigens regulate the development of the majority of $CD8{\alpha}{\beta}$ IELs in the small intestine and the absence of commensal microbiota particularly during the weaning period, delay the development of IELs. When we tested specific dietary components, such as wheat or combined corn, soybean and yeast, they were dependent on commensal bacteria for the timely development of diet-induced $CD8{\alpha}{\beta}$ IELs. In addition, supplementation of intestinal antigens later in life was inefficient for the full induction of $CD8{\alpha}{\beta}$ IELs. Overall, our findings suggest that early exposure to commensal bacteria is important for the proper development of dietary antigen-dependent immune repertoire in the gut.

  • When newcomer countries consider a nuclear power programme, it is recognized that the most important organizations are the Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO), the regulator, and an operating organization. Concerning the number of construction delays these days, one of the essential organizations is an Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA). According to World Nuclear Industry Status Report, all of the reactors under construction in eight out of the thirteen countries have experienced delays. Globally, the Flamanville 3 project and Sanmen Unit 1 are 6.5 years and 5 years late respectively. One of the major reasons of delay is due to inappropriate manufacturing and inspection on safety class components. The recommendations are made to develop such an organization: (i) find existing inspection organizations in relevant industries, (ii) contract with expatriates who have experience on nuclear inspection, (iii) develop a legislative framework to authorize the inspection organization with enforcement, (iv) include a contract clause in the BIS for developing the AIA, (v) hold training programmes from vendor country, (vi) during manufacturing and construction, domestic AIA shall be involved.

  • Placement is a very important step in the VLSI physical design process. It is the problem of placing circuit modules to optimize the circuit performance and reliability of the circuit. It is used at the layout level to find strongly connected components that can be placed together in order to minimize the layout area and propagation delay. The most popular algorithms for circuit placement include the cluster growth, simulated annealing, integer linear programming and genetic algorithm. In this paper we propose a adapted genetic algorithm searching solution space for the placement problem, and then compare it with simulated annealing and genetic algorithm by analyzing the results of each implementation. As a result, it was found that the adaptive genetic algorithm approaches the optimal solution more effectively than the simulated annealing and genetic algorithm.

  • Metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) are continuously scaling down in the nanoscale region to improve the functionality of integrated circuits. The scaling down of MOSFET devices causes short-channel effects in the nanoscale region. In nanoscale region, leakage current components are increasing, resulting in substantial power dissipation. Very large-scale integration designers are constantly exploring different effective methods of mitigating the power dissipation. In this study, a transistor-level input-controlled stacking (ICS) approach is proposed for minimizing significant power dissipation. A low-power ICS approach is extensively discussed to verify its importance in low-power applications. Circuit reliability is monitored for process and voltage and temperature variations. The ICS approach is designed and simulated using Cadence's tools and compared with existing low-power and high-speed techniques at a 22-nm technology node. The ICS approach decreases power dissipation by 84.95% at a cost of 5.89 times increase in propagation delay, and improves energy dissipation reliability by 82.54% compared with conventional circuit for a ring oscillator comprising 5-inverters.

  • In this letter, we study a scenario based on degenerate unmixing estimation technique (DUET) that separates original signals from mixture of FHSS signals with two antennas. We have shown that the assumptions for separating mixed signals in DUET can be applied to drone based digital signage recognition signals and proposed the DUET-based separation scheme (DBSS) to classify the mixed recognition drone signals by extracting the delay and attenuation components of the mixture signal through the likelihood function and the short-term Fourier transform (STFT). In addition, we propose an iterative algorithm for signal separation with the conventional DUET scheme. Numerical results showed that the proposed algorithm is more separation-efficient compared to baseline schemes. DBSS can separate all signals within about 0.56 seconds when there are fewer than nine signage signals.

  • A major concern with blasting at surface mines is generation of ground vibration, air blast, flyrock, dust & fume and their impact on nearby structures and environment. A study was conducted at a coal mine in India which produces 10 million tonne of coal and 27 million cubic meter of overburden per annum. Draglines and shovels with dumpers carry out the removal of overburden. Detonation of 100 tonnes of explosives in a blasting round is a common practice of the mine. These large sized blasts often led to complaints from the nearby inhabitants regarding ground vibrations and their affects on their houses. Eighteen dragline blasts were conducted and their impacts on nearby structures were investigated. Extended seismic arrays were used to identify the vibration characteristics within a few tens meters of the blasts and also as modified by the media at distances over 5 km. 10 to 12 seismographs were deployed in an array to gather the time histories of vibrations. A signature blast was conducted to know the fundamental frequency of the particular transmitting media between the blast face and the structures. The faster decay of high frequency components was observed. It was also observed that at distances of 5km, the persistence of vibrations in the structures was substantially increased by more 10 seconds. The proximity of the frequency of the ground vibration to the structure's fundamental frequencies produced the resonance in the structures. On the basis of the fundamental frequency of the structures, the delay interval was optimized, which resulted into lower amplitude and reduced persistence of vibration in the structures.

  • This paper studies that torque model considered with decaying phase back-EMF is different In conduction and commutation period and analyzes the torque pulsation components mathematically. In this paper, it is proposed a novel method to suppress torque pulsation due to commutation time. First, it propose commutation delay time control method, which is to compensate current slope of rising phase and decaying phase to control commutation time. Current ripple is minimized at non-commutating current and torque ripple is reduced below critical speed range that dc link voltage is the same as four times of back-EMF voltage. However, torque ripple still exists due to the relation with back-EMF and commutating current and it is increased on a large scale above critical speed range, especially. Secondly, proposed method is commutation time control, which is considered with torque pulsation due to the relation of back-EMF and commutating current. Through the proposed method, the torque pulsation can be minimized in the whole speed range as well as range over critical speed.
