  • A protease purified from hepatopancreas of shrimp, Penaeus japonicus, had maximum activity at $70^{\circ}C$ and in neutral and alkaline pH ranges. Specific activity at optimum reaction condition of the protease was estimated to be approximately 12 U/mg/min. The protease was stable in neutral and alkaline pH ranges and activity was retained after heat treatment at $50^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Apparent $K_m$ and $V_{max}$ value against casein substrate were estimated to be $0.29\%$ and $7.8see^{-1}$, respectively, and those against N-CBZ-L-tyrosine p-nitropheny1 ester (CBZTyr-NE) were 0.38 mM and $2,400 see^{-1}$, respectively. The N-termina1 sequence of the protease showed high homology to the trypsin from same species and the proteases from shrimp. Myosin heavy chain (MHC) from shrimp tail meat was the most susceptible to the protease and actin/tropomyosin were degraded progressively during 4 hr incubation, but to a lesser degree than MHC.

  • This study presents an analysis method for heat flow and deformation of sheet metal laser welding. A heat source model for 2-dimensional heat flow analysis of laser welding process was suggested in this paper. To investigate the availability of the heat source model, the analysis results were compared and estimated with the results of previous researches. We could get a good agreement between the results of numerical analysis and experiments in the temperature distribution of weldment. Due to the characteristics of welding process, some kinds of deformations are usually generated in a welded structure. Generally, the degree of deformation is dependent on the welding sequence constraints as well as input power Therefore, in this paper we evaluate the deformation of gas pressure vessel according to the welding sequence and input power. In the analysis of weld deformation, 2-dimensional thermo-elasto-plastic analysis was performed for the gas pressure vessel by using a commercial FE program package.

  • Relationship between charge transfer mechanism and quantum coherence has been investigated using a realtime quantum dynamics approach. In the on-the-fly filtered propagator functional path integral simulation, by separating paths that belong to different mechanisms and by integrating contributions of correspondingly sorted paths, it was possible to accurately obtain quantitative contribution of different transport mechanisms. For a 5'-GAGGG-3' DNA sequence, we analyze charge transfer processes quantitatively such that the governing mechanism alters from coherent to incoherent charge transfer with respect to the friction strength arising from dissipative environments. Although the short DNA sequence requires substantially strong dissipation for completely incoherent hopping transfer mechanism, even a weak system-environment interaction markedly destroys the coherence within the quantum mechanical system and the charge transfer dynamics becomes incoherent to some degree. Based on the forward-backward path deviation analysis, the coherence variation depending on the environment is investigated numerically.

  • Here we report an antifungal peptide isolation from G. mellonella larvae. The peptide shows a high degree of sequence homology to an insect defensin, named heliomicin, first reported in Lepidoptera. The peptide was purified by a three-step procedure consisting of acid extraction, gel permeation chromatography and reversed-phase HPLC. First the N-terminal amino acid sequence of the purified peptide was determined by automated Edman degradation. (omitted)

  • The dynamic characteristics of a three phase induction motor which is applied by various unbalanced voltages are simulated and analyzed in this paper. The voltage equations and torque equation in the dq stationary reference frame for the three phase star connected induction motor are used in this analysis. MATLAB and SIMULINK are employed as a simulation tool. The dynamic characteristics of speed and torque are simulated for various unbalanced voltages, that is, (1) cases with the same unbalance voltage factor but different unbalanced voltages, (2) cases with only one unbalanced voltages but different degree of unbalance, and (3) cases with the same positive sequence voltage but different negative sequence voltages. The simulated results are compared and analyzed with each other, and also with the results of balanced voltage.

  • We provide an algorithm for the construction and analysis of autocorrelation (information) functions of gene nucleotide sequences. As a measure of correlation between discrete random variables, we use normalized mutual information. The information functions are indicative of the degree of structuredness of gene sequences. We construct the information functions for selected gene sequences. We find a significant difference between information functions of genes of different types. We hypothesize that the features of information functions of gene nucleotide sequences are related to phenotypes of these genes.

  • Let $f{\in}C^r$ ([-1,1]), $r{\geq}0$ and let $L^*$ be a linear left fractional differential operator such that $L^*$ $(f){\geq}0$ throughout [0, 1]. We can find a sequence of polynomials $Q_n$ of degree ${\leq}n$ such that $L^*$ $(Q_n){\geq}0$ over [0, 1], furthermore f is approximated left fractionally and simulta-neously by $Q_n$ on [-1, 1]. The degree of these restricted approximations is given via inequalities using a higher order modulus of smoothness for $f^{(r)}$.

  • Composite reinforced fiber materials are used in lots of fields such as a part of aeronautic space, ship, machinery and so on because can make structure wished for necessary condition by control fiber direction and laminated sequence. As the use of advanced composites increase, specific techniques have been developed to repair changed composite structures. In order to repair the damaged part production high quality composite reinforced fiber are completed by control the surrounding temperature and press in autoclave. The quality is influenced heat exposure degree by chemical reaction for precessing. This study considerated influence limit of using by repair structure part and change of properties according to heat exposure degree for repairing.

  • Recently far infra-red (FIR) polarization of the $850{\mu}m$ continuum emission from T Tauri disks has been detected. The observed degree of polarization is around 3 %. Since thermal emission from dust grains dominates the spectral energy distribution at the FIR regime, dust grains might be the cause of the polarization. We explore alignment of dust grains by radiative torque in T Tauri disks and provide predictions for polarized emission for disks viewed at different wavelengths and viewing angles. In the presence of magnetic field, these aligned grains produce polarized emission in infrared wavelengths. When we take a Mathis-Rumpl-Nordsieck-type distribution with maximum grain size of $500-1000{\mu}m$, the degree of polarization is around 2-3 % level at wavelengths larger than ${\sim}100{\mu}m$. Our study indicates that multifrequency infrared polarimetric studies of protostellar disks can provide good insights into the details of their magnetic structure.
