  • The current study explored if users' self-relevance of the comparison domain with creative AI robot in music composition affected their envy toward the robot, cognitive assessment toward the music and intention toward working with robot in future. This study conducted a 2 (degree of self-relevance: high(college students majoring in music) vs. low(those not majoring in music) × 2 (working type: robot-only vs. robot-human collaboration) between-subjects factorial design experiment. The findings revealed that those majoring in music did not feel envious of the robot as much as those not majoring in music. However, compared to those not majoring in music, those majoring in music evaluated the robot's creativity lower, had more negative attitude toward the music, showed less intention to use the music and work with the robots in future. No interaction between the degree of self-relevance and the working type was found.

  • In this paper we propose a modified fuzzy min-max neural network model for pattern classification and discuss the usefulness of the model. We define a new hypercube membership function which has a weight factor to each of the feature within a hyperbox. The weight factor makes it possible to consider the degree of relevance of each feature to a class during the classification process. Based on the proposed model, a knowledge extraction method is presented. In this method, a list of relevant features for a given class is extracted from the trained network using the hyperbox membership functions and connection weights. Ft)r this purpose we define a Relevance Factor that represents a degree of relevance of a feature to the given class and a similarity measure between fuzzy membership functions of the hyperboxes. Experimental results for the proposed methods and discussions are presented for the evaluation of the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed methods.

  • This paper presents the information retrieval system which can retrieve the most appropriate answer sentence for user queries by using the concept and the attribute for the knowledge retrieval. The system analyzes the user query into the Boolean queries with the concept and the attribute and then retrieve the relevant documents in the indexing set of answer documents. Users can retrieve the relevant answer sentences from the relevant documents. For this, the answer documents indexed by the concept and the attribute are segmented by each sentence respectively. Thus, the segmented sentences are analyzed into the concept and the attribute of which the relevance degree with indexing units of documents is evaluated. Then, the system indexes the location of answer sentences. In the experiment, we evaluate the performance of our answer retrieval system against 100 user queries and show the experimental results.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the invention-related content of foreign science curricula and investigate the perception of science educators about the degree of relevance between science curriculum and invention. For the analysis of foreign science curricula, we investigated the programs of 10 nations, including the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, France, Finland and China. To analyze the relevance between Korean science curriculum and invention, we examined common topics such as science, integrated science, and science inquiry experiment, and investigated that the elements related to invention education were included in each 'achievement standard' and 'teaching and evaluation methods'. Science educators including science teachers were asked to evaluate the degree of relevance of invention education. The results were as follows. First, science curricula in many countries contained invention-related content. Second, science educators recognized that invention education was related to science curriculum, but the systematic connection was insufficient. Third, because it is mainly limited to the results of designing and device design, they recognized that the relevance of invention education, which focuses on various processes such as problem design, inventive techniques and intellectual property, was not revealed. Therefore, it is necessary to be process-oriented when developing invention education teaching-learning methods and related materials in science education for the future.

  • This study clarifies the concept of the education content relevance in order to evaluate the content relevance of Technology & Home Economics in a secondary school, and design its standards based on the preceding study. In other words, four standards such as the amount of studying content, the degree of difficulty, the validity of contents and the sequence of contents are established. Also, a survey on the current status of nationwide units targeting students, teachers, and professors was conducted to collect actual data about relevance evaluation. The results are as follows. First, as for the evaluation in terms of the amount of studying content, the majority of respondents answered that it decreased by about $30\%$ when compared to the 6th Technology & Home Economics Curriculum However, middle school teachers pointed out that the number of classes is not enough considering the fact that it's an activity-oriented subject. So, they acknowledged that the amount of study time during a Technology Sl Home Economics class is 'quite a lot.' Second, the evaluation in the degree of difficulty is divided into two responses. Teachers responded that it's reasonable overall, but according to students, it's difficult. Especially, the chapters that students don't understand well including 'The Elements of Draftsmanship,"' 'Understanding of Machinery,' 'Electronics & Electricity Technology,' and 'Energy & Transportation Technology.' In the Home Economics area, 'The Design of Home Life' is the only chapter that students don't understand well. Third, as for the validity of contents, the chapters that were not considered as important considering the objective of Technology Sl Home Economics Curriculum include 'The Elements of Draftsmanship,' 'Computer & Processing,' and 'The Management of Resources and Environment.' Fourth, as for the sequence of contents, the survey was conducted including the name of the course asone of the survey items. The majority of teachers wanted it as it is, but the Professors of education colleges who wanted the 3rd name to connect the course with the elementary school course was a little more $(50.5\%)$ than the ones who don't want any changes $(45.5\%)$. The follow-up study should correct and complement the standards that this study suggested through analytic and critical review according to the character & goal of the subject. Based on such standards, the evaluation of content relevance should be continued to realize the quality control of the curriculum systematically.

  • The degree of saturation determines the connectivity of void space and the particle surface. Thus, it greatly affects the electrical conductivity of soils. This study aimed to analyze the electrical conductivities of coarse grains with a high relevance of pore water conduction and fine grains with a high relevance of surface conduction based on the degree of saturation. It also aimed to express the electrical conductivity of unsaturated soils as a combination of surface and pore water conductions using the modified Archie's equation. Samples were prepared in a plastic cell equipped with four electrodes, and the electrical conductivity was measured based on the porosity at various degrees of saturation (40%~100%). The results demonstrate that Archie's equation can be used to express the electrical conductivity of coarse grains, with a saturation exponent of ~1.93 regardless of the pore water conductivity. However, the saturation exponent of fine grains varied considerably with pore water concentration. This variation can be attributed to the relative magnitude of surface conduction with respect to the electrical conductivity of soils at different pore water concentrations. Thus, the degree of saturation has varying effects on pore water conduction and surface conduction. Therefore, different saturation exponents must be used for pore water conduction and surface conduction to predict the electrical conductivity of unsaturated soils using the modified Archie's equation.

  • This study attempted to compare usability of auditory interfaces, which is a comprehensive concept that includes safety, utility, effectiveness, and efficiency, in personal computing environments: verbal messages (speech sounds), earcons (musical sounds), and auditory icons (natural sounds). This study hypothesized that verbal messages would offer higher usability than earcons and auditory icons, since the verbal messages are easy to interpret and understand based on semiotic process. In this study, usability was measured by a set of seven items: ability to inform what the program is doing, relevance to visual interfaces, degree of stimulation, degree of understandability, perceived time pressure, clearness of sound outputs, and degrees of satisfaction. Through the experimental research, the results showed that verbal messages provided the highest level of usability. On the contrary, auditory icons showed the lowest level of usability, as they require users to establish new coding schemes, and thus demand more mental effort from users.
