A Study on Plastic Injection Molding for Warpage Characteristics Evaluation of Mobile Phone Cover (모바일폰 커버의 휨특성 평가를 위한 사출 성형에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, warpage characteristics of mobile phone cover through injection molding process were investigated using design of experiments in injection molding process. Warpage in plastic injection molding has a significant effect on quality of product. Effects of injection time, packing pressure, packing time, mold temperature and melt temperature on the warpage of mobile phone cover were considered by numerical analysis and experiment with Taguchi method. The degree of warpage for the injection molded part was measured by using three dimensional coordinate measurement machine. It was shown that temperature control factor has more significant effect on the warpage of mobile phone cover than pressure control factor.

Balancing of Digital VCR Head Drum (디지털 VCR 헤드 드럼의 밸런싱 연구)

  • Dynamic stability in rotation of the head drum of digital VCR is very important due to the nature of high rotation speed and small angular inertia. Therefore special considerations on reducing the unbalance and assuring the stability are required the design and manufacturing process. In this paper, newly developed digital head drum is introduced. And advanced methods in analyzing and reducing the unbalance is suggested. LDV(Laser Doppler Vibrometer) was used as a measurement system verifying our modeling and new method for balancing. Experiments show that the theoretical data estimated by modeling of shaft bending caused by unbalance mass and the measured data are almost identical. The deflection was reduced to 30% by applying the suggested balancing method.

  • In this paper a self-tuning gain-scheduled skyhook control for semi-active suspension systems is investigated. The dynamic characteristics of a continuously variable damper including electro-hydraulic pressure control valves is analyzed. A 2-d.o.f. time-varying quarter-car model that permits variations in sprung mass and suspension spring coefficient is considered. The self-tuning skyhook control algorithm proposed in this paper requires only the measurement of body acceleration. The absolute velocity of the sprung mass and the relative velocity of the suspension deflection are estimated by using integral filters.   • In this paper, an investigation was performed on the dynamic interlaminar fracture toughness of CFRP(carbon filber rein-forcement plastics). Specimens used in this experiments are CF/PEEK laminated plates. In this experiments, Split Hopkin-sons Bar(SHPE) tes was apply to dynamic and notched flexure test. The model II fracture toughness of each unidirectional CFRP was estimated by the analyzed deflection of the specimen and J-integral with the measured impulsive load and reac-tions at the supported points. As an experimental results the vibration amplitude of [$0^{\circ}_10 /F_4 0^{\circ}_10 $] j-aminates appear more than that of [$0^{\circ}_10 /F_2 0^{\circ}_10 $ laminates for the j-integral and displacement velocity at a measuring point. Also, it is thought that the dynamic fracture toughness of two kind specimen(CF/PEEK) with the crease of displacement velocity becomes great at a measuring point with in the range of measurement.

  • In this study, a method to estimate the suspension bridge deflection is developed using mode decomposition technique. In order to examine the suspension bridge stability against these dynamic loadings, the prediction of displacement response is very important to evaluate bridge stability. However, it is recognized that any measurement of movement for suspension bridges may be difficult for the absence of proper methods to measure the displacement response on site. This study aims at suggesting a method to estimate the displacement response from the measured strain signals in an indirect way to predict the displacement response, not a direct way to measure the displacement response. Additionally, by applying the FBG sensors with multi-point measurements not influenced by electric noise, it can be expected that the technique would be applicable to infrastructures.

New Bending System Using a Segmented Vacuum Chuck for Stressed Mirror Polishing of Thin Mirrors

  • In the present research, a new bending system using a segmented vacuum chuck for Stressed Mirror Polishing (SMP) is developed. SMP is a special fabrication method for thin aspheric mirrors, where simple flat or spherical fabrication is applied while a mirror blank is deflected. Since a mirror blank is usually glued to a bending fixture in the conventional SMP process, there are drawbacks such as long curing time, inconvenience of mirror replacement, risk of mirror breakage, and stress concentration near the glued area. To resolve the drawbacks, a new bending system is designed to effectively hold a mirror blank by vacuum. For the developed bending system, the optimal bending load to achieve the designated mirror deflection is found by finite element analysis and an optimization algorithm. With the measurement results of the deflected mirror surfaces with the optimal bending loads, the feasibility of the developed bending system is investigated. As a result, it is shown that the bending system is appropriate for the SMP process.

  • Main vibration problems of a transaxle type forklift truck are caused by the resonance of engine excitation force and natural mode shade of major components such as engine-mount system, mast, and main frame. But, it is well known that the reduction of vibration is very difficult because of the limitation of structural modifications. In this paper, the vibration characteristics of engine-mast system including engine mount were firstly identified by the experimental and simplified numerical methods. And also, the free and forced vibration characteristics of a whole forklift truck were surveyed with modal test and ODS(operation deflection shape) measurement. Based on these results, the reliable finite element model was developed. Finally, various countermeasures were considered and applied to a real forklift truck and then its effects were confirmed.

  • Measurement of noise is not only to know the information of acoustic pressure but to assess human response for noise. Provided that want to find human response for transportation noise, we will have to reproduce the measured noise. The method of reproduction is largely divided into monaural and binaural reproduction techniques. Human fundamentally hears sound through both ears, which is binaural hearing. And binaural technique includes the more information of physical phenomena like acoustical reflection and deflection. So, binaural reproduction is more suitable for assessment of the psychoacoustical and physiological response for transportation noise exposures.

  • The metal lead frame, a semiconductor component, has product tolerances in micro units as compared to products made with a larger size mold. Therefore, small deflections of the mold and of the press as well as the press molding process itself have a strong influence on accuracy of the product. Hence, it is necessary for the process design to consider the structural response of the mold and the press during deformation. In the current study, the mold deflection and pressure on the punch is examined using the finite element modeling (FEM) program ABAQUS. The results from the simulation were verified with the dynamic deformation measurement equipment using digital image correlation (DIC).
