Performance Comparison of Various Extended Kalman Filter and Cost-Reference Particle Filter for Target Tracking with Unknown Noise (노이즈 불확실성하에서의 확장칼만필터의 변종들과 코스트 레퍼런스 파티클필터를 이용한 표적추적 성능비교)

  • In this paper, we study target tracking in two dimensional space using a Extended Kalman filter(EKF), various Extended Kalman Filter and Cost-Reference Particle Filter(CRPF), which can effectively estimate the state values of nonlinear measurement equation. We introduce various Extended Kalman Filter which the Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF), the Central Difference Kalman Filter(CDKF), the Square Root Unscented Kalman Filter(SR-UKF), and the Central Difference Kalman Filter(SR-CDKF). In this study, we calculate Mean Square Error(MSE) of each filters using Monte-Carlo simulation with unknown noise statistics. Simulation results show that among the various of Extended Kalman filter, Square Root Central Difference Kalman Filter has the best results in terms of speed and performance. And, the Cost-Reference Particle Filter has an advantageous feature that it does not need to know the noise distribution differently from Extended Kalman Filter, and the simulation result shows that the excellent in term of processing speed and accuracy.

Closed-Form Expression of Approximate ML DOA Estimates in Bistatic MIMO Radar System (바이스태틱 MIMO 레이다 시스템에 적용되는 ML 도래각 추정 알고리즘의 근사 추정치에 대한 Closed-Form 표현)

  • Recently, for detection of low-RCS targets, bistatic radar and multistatic radar have been widely employed. In this paper, we present the process of deriving the received signal modeling of the bistatic MIMO radar system and deals with the performance analysis of applying the bistatic signal to the ML arrival angle estimation algorithm. In case of the ML algorithm, as the number of the targets increases, azimuth search dimension for DOA estimation also increases, which implies that the ML algorithm for multiple targets is computationally very intensive. To solve this problem a closed-form expression of estimation error is presented for performance analysis of the algorithm.

A Study on the Bulletproof Reliability Program (방탄물자 신뢰성 평가(BRP)에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the reliability evaluation concept and procedure of bulletproof materials (BRP: Bulletproof Reliability Program). ASRP, RAM analysis tasks were utilized for the study. Based on this analysis, the concept, method, performance system, and procedure of BRP were examined. The BRP task execution procedure consists of the following four steps. First, the business (evaluation) planning stage establishes the evaluation plan every year. Second, there is a testing stage that performs the general inspection, functional test, and operational test according to the established plan. Thirdly, there is an evaluation/analysis phase to synthesize/analyze the results and to judge the appropriate grade considering the performance of bulletproof materials. Finally, the follow-up step of each group according to the result. The following criteria are suggested for BRP implementation: BRP testing capability, development of BRP evaluation method, and recognition of the importance of BRP business.

  • As Air Base Defence, Anti-Aircraft Defence and Nuclear-Biological-Chemical Protection model considered as ground operation models in Republic of Korea Air Force are designed as the voice-centered system between participant nodes, there is a problem communicating accurately. In recent years, the military is developing a command and control capability using data communication technology to solve the problem. Therefore, this paper proposes new model to maximize efficiency of performance improvement through the Data Communication-based Future Air Base Defence Model. We refer to a research paper that is related existing and developed new model. and then we really experimented under WiBro Network that is constructed to Air Base for maintenance control. Based on the analysis and the test result of new Air Base Defence Model, we have concluded that the performance improvement effect is reached.

  • The compressive sensing model for range-Doppler estimation can be expressed as an under-determined linear system y = Ax. To find the solution of the linear system with the compressive sensing method, matrix A should be sufficiently incoherent and x to be sparse. In this paper, we propose a transmission waveform design method that maintains the bandwidth required by the sonar system while lowering the mutual coherence of the matrix A so that the matrix A is incoherent. The proposed method combines two methods of optimizing the sensing matrix with the alternating projection and suppressing unwanted frequency bands using the DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) matrix. We compare range-Doppler estimation performance of existing waveform LFM(Linear Frequency Modulated) and designed waveform using the matched filter and the compressive sensing method. Simulation shows that the designed transmission waveform has better detection performance than the existing waveform LFM.

  • This paper is to study the simulation model of depot maintenance system that analyzes logistics supportability such as component availability and cost of target equipment. A depot maintenance system could repair or maintain multiple components simultaneously. The key performance indicators of this system are component availability, repair cycle time, and maintenance cost. The simulation model is based on the engine maintenance process of army aviation depot. This study combines the NOLH(Nearly Orthogonal Latin Hypercube) experimental design method, to composes 33 scenarios, with a multiple regression analysis to find out major factors that influence on key performance indicators. This study is significant in providing a cost-effectiveness analysis on depot maintenance system that is capable of maintaining multiple components at the same time.

  • It is indispensable for a missile to track a target under the flight condition since the tracking capability affects the system performance considerably. The best way to verify the tracker's performance is flight test while it costs too much. Consequently, captive flight test or CFT has an important role in the development of a missile system. CFT, however, cannot simulate missile dynamics and is an offline and open-loop test. In this paper, we propose a new integrated-flight simulation(IFS) method using CFT imagery to overcome the limitation of synthetic image-based IFS method. This method increases the utilization of CFT's outputs and compensates the reality of imagery which lacks in the synthetic image-based IFS. Using this method make it possible to verify the system capability in various simulation modes.

Design of Variable F-number and Triple Magnification Infrared Optical System (가변 F/수 삼중 배율 적외선 광학계 설계 연구)

  • In this article, the design of a variable F-number and triple magnification infrared optical system is described. That is a two-in-one optical system that combines an infrared search and track (IRST) system and an electro-optical tracking system (EOTS), where an afocal optical system is added to the IRST optical system designed already. The performance target is determined by analyzing system performance, and then the specification in the optical system design is calculated. This optical system contains a warm stop making it possible that one optics has two different F/# by cutting the size of aperture, and that is designed to suit this optics. The system satisfies the requirement such as a modulation transfer function (MTF). For operational assessment, the movement of the focusing lens group is analyzed over the change of temperature and target distance. By using this optical system, it is possible to develop equipment having two functions, infrared searching and electro-optical tracking.

  • Recently network based attack technologies are rapidly advanced and intelligent, the limitations of existing signature-based intrusion detection systems are becoming clear. The reason is that signature-based detection methods lack generalization capabilities for new attacks such as APT attacks. To solve these problems, research on machine learning-based intrusion detection systems is being actively conducted. However, in the actual network environment, attack samples are collected very little compared to normal samples, resulting in class imbalance problems. When a supervised learning-based anomaly detection model is trained with such data, the result is biased to the normal sample. In this paper, we propose to overcome this imbalance problem through One-Class Anomaly Detection using an auto encoder. The experiment was conducted through the NSL-KDD data set and compares the performance with the supervised learning models for the performance evaluation of the proposed method.

  • LTV(Light Tactical vehicle) operating in our military requires higher levels of performance and durability to withstand harsher conditions than ordinary vehicles, as they must travel on both rough-train and off-road as well as on public roads. Recently, developed light tactical vehicle is developed by a variety of test evaluations in order to satisfy ROC(Required Operational Capability) by the requirement military group. However, there is no standardized driving test condition for satisfying the durability performance of Korean tactical vehicle. Therefore, this study aims to provide basic data to establish reliable driving test conditions by analyzing the maneuver conditions and the driving data in order to select the representative drive course required. To do this, we analyzed the future operational environment, the area of operation analysis and the driving information of light tactical vehicle.
