  • In recent year, OLED(organic light emitted display) is used as the next generation device of FPD. OLED have been replacing the flat panel display device such as LCD, STN-LCD and TFT because this device is more efficient, economic and simple than those FPD devices, and this need not backlight system for visualization. The performance and efficiency of OLED is related with surface defect of ITO coated glass substrate. The typical surface defect of glass substrate is nonuniformity and bad surface roughness. ITO coated glass substrate is destroied for inspection about surface roughness and non-uniformity. Generally detection of the defects in the surface for ITO coated glass substrate is dependent on operator's experience. In this research, relationship between working parameter and surface non-uniformity is studied using regression analysis.

  • The total electrical conductivity, ionic conductivity, and nonstoichimetry of a new cathode material $Y_{1-x}Ca_xFeO_{3-\delta}$ (x=0.1) were measured as functions of temperature ($900\leqT/^{\circ}C\leq1100$) and oxygen partial pressure $(10^{-6}\leqPo_2/atm\leq0.21$). Isothermal variations of these properties with $Po_2$ support that the majority type of ionic defects are anti-Frenkel disorder which, however, has seldom been considered for perovskite-based oxides. The results are discussed in comparison with those reported on similar oxides.

  • In this work, in order to realize the possible defects at the cable joint interface, four different types of artificial defects are provided : conducting, insulating substances, void and scratches. The analysis related to the PD patterns has been performed by means of conventional Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analysis (PRPDA) and Chaotic Analysis of Partial Discharge (CAPD) as well which was proposed by our previous communication. As a result, it could be pointed out that each defect has shown particular characteristics in its pattern respectively and that the nature of defect causing partial discharge could be identified more distinctively when the CAPD is combined with the conventional statistic method, PRPDA.

  • To confirm the theory and static defect energy (SDE) equations proposed in the first part, extensive numerical simulation studies are performed in this portion. Stiffness method is applied to calculate the components of the stresses and strains from which the energy components and finally, the SDE are obtained. Examples are designed to cover almost all kinds of possibilities. Variables include structural type, material, cross-section, support constraint, loading type, magnitude and position. The SDE diagram is unique in the way of presenting damage information: two different energy constants are separated by a sharp vertical drop right at the damage location. Simulation results are successfully implemented for both methods in all the cases.

  • This paper describes a signal processing technique for identifying signals from defects by using an electromagnetic-ultrasonic guided waves method based on a magnetostrictive sensor that generates a torsional mode (T(0, 1)). Because this technique is based on the digital filtering, the filtered signals provide information on the relationship between the cutoff frequency of band-pass filter and the characteristic of defect signals in heat exchange tubes. To verify the performance of the technique, artificial defects with various thickness reduction ration and shape were machined in titanium tubes, and digital filtering results are reported. The results show that digital filtering provides information to the identify shape of defects and the contact condition between the tube and support ring. Therefore, the proposed technique has good potential as a tool for evaluating the integrity of heat exchange tubes.

  • The scanning laser source (SLS) technique has been proposed recently as an effective way to investigate small surface-breaking defects, By monitoring the amplitude and frequency changes of the ultrasound generated as the SLS scans over a defect, the SLS technique has provided enhanced signal-to-noise performance compared to the traditional pitch-catch or pulse-echo ultrasonic methods, An extension of the SLS approach to map defects in microdevices is proposed by bringing both the generator and the receiver to the near-field scattering region of the defects, To facilitate near-field ultrasound measurement, silicon microcantilever probes are fabricated using microfabrication technique and their acoustical characteristics are investigated, Then, both the laser-generated ultrasonic source and the microcantilever probe are used to monitor near-field scattering by a surface-breaking defect.

  • It is required to evaluate nondestructively depth of surface-breaking cracks in structures. In this paper, the self-compensated technique by laser-based ultrasound is used to measure the depth of surface-breaking defect. Optical generation of ultrasound produces a well defined pulse with reliable frequency content. It is broad banded and suitable for measurement of attenuation and scattering over a wide frequency range. The self-calibrated signal transmission data of surface wave shows good sensitivity as a practical tool far assessment of surface-breaking defect depth. It is suggested that the relationship between the signal transmission and crack depth can be used to predict the surface-breaking crack depths in structures.

  • A spin coater is a machine to coat wafer or LCD display with thin film. Vibration in the spin coater may be one of main troubles in the coating process. In this paper, we focus on the difference between two spin coaters. Vibration sources are identified by experimental approach and are compared to find the difference between the two spin coaters. Also, the particle concentration is observed by laser particle counter (LPC) for the two spin coaters, when the spin coaxers are working. It is also considered whether the defect rate is proportional to the particle concentration. The result shows that particle generation in the coating process is related to excessive vibration of the spin coater shaft and the particles influence the defect rate of the thin film product.

  • Chemical Mechanical Polishing(CMP) has been accepted as one of the essential processes for VLSI fabrication. However, as the polishing process continues, pad pores get to be glazed by polishing residues, which hinder the supply of new slurry. This defect makes removal rate decrease with a number of polished wafer and the desired within-chip planarity, within wafer and wafer-to-wafer nonuniformity are unable to be achieved. So, pad conditioning is essential to overcome this defect. The eletroplated diamond grit disk is used as the conventional conditioner, And alumina long fiber, the .jet power of high pressure deionized water and vacuum compression are under investigation. But, these methods have the defects like scratches on wafer surface by out of diamond grits, subsidences of pad pores by over-conditioning, and the limits of conditioning effect. To improve these conditioning methods. this paper presents the Characteristics of Ultrasonic conditioning aided by cavitation.

  • According to the variation of hydrostatic pressure on the central axis of deformable material, the V-shaped central bursting defect may be created on extrusion or drawing processes. The process factors whichaffect the generation of defects are die semi-angle, reduction ratio of cross-sectional area, friction factor, material properties and so on. The combination of these factors can determine the prossibility of defect creation and the shape of various round holes which have been created inside already. By the rigid plastic finite element method, this paper describes the observations of change in shape of a round hole with process conditions suchas die semi-angle, reduction ratio of cross-sectional area and friction factorat the unsteady state of axi-symmetrical extrusion process when the round hole is alreadyexisted inside the original billet, and also, the effects of process factors are investigated to prevent the possible defects.
