  • The purpose of this study is to find out the actual status of the math after-school program in the elementary school and the content of the program. We survey the 115 math external math lecturers of the 100 elementary schools in Busan and analyze the results. Research questions are set as follows. 1. What is the status of the elementary math after-school? 2. How is the content of the program of the elementary math after-school? The results of the survey are analyzed as follows. First, any of the external math after-school lecturer did not major in math education and 87% of them majored in another discipline. Second, 47% of the external math after-school lecturers are employed by privately-held companies. Third, 64.4% of the content of the after-school programs is the supplement and deepening of the regular math class. Fourth, 76.5% of the time of the first class of the math after-school program is 50 minutes and 46% of the math after-school opens 5 classes per a week. Fifth, most programs consist of the problem-solving style class. Sixth, it is difficult to run the math after-school according to students' level and grade. Based on the above discussion, I suggest the following. First, math after-school class should be the action-oriented class to motivate the positive and interested participation of the students. Second, lecturer training and various math class programs is required to improve the quality of the math after-school class.

  • This study aims to explore the characteristics of the working conditions in Korean game industry, focusing on the precarity of game workers. As a research methodology, qualitative and quantitative methods were combined. Specifically, in addition to in-depth interviews with game workers, we conducted a quantitative analysis on adequacy of reward and career prospects recognized by game workers through the Korean Working Conditions Survey(2014/2017). The major findings are as follows. First, game workers were experiencing labor precarity in a way of job insecurity, economic instability and excessive exploitation, as well as loss of autonomy and labor alienation. Second, between 2014 and 2017, the adequacy of reward recognized by game workers was positively improved for companies with 30 or more employees, but was worsen for those with less than 30 employees. In addition, in terms of career prospects, there were no significant changes in the workers of companies with 30 or more employees, but the were worsened for companies with less than 30 employees. These results show that labor precarity in the game industry appears to be different depending on various factors, such as business size, occupation, and career. It also implies that the polarized and inequal structure of the Korean game industry is gradually deepening.

In the field of specialized subjects, unit allotment of the major courses requires the completion of more thar 82 units in Korea, while that in Japan requires the completion of more than 60 units, so that the units of the complusory courses for stresms of both of the countries tend to show many differences and diversity in both zone and school. Based on these results, the research concluded that the Fisheries High Schools in the two countries make up nearly similar curricula, while in Japan general subjects carry more extensive choice of courses and higher unit allotment is provided for general subjects than in Korea. • Recently, construction industry has won an increasing number of orders for overseas construction projects, thereby achieving an external growth, but its competiveness is concentrated on the construction execution field. In particular, the plant field occupies most of the entire orders, which are concentrated regionally in the Middle East and Asia. In addition, low-cost orders are frequently caused by excessive competition. But its high value-added construction engineering(Below, CE) field's overseas market share and technological capacity are very low. Also, technological competiveness, in terms of order amount and other factors, is deepening in polarization between large CE companies and small and medium-sized CE firms. It is noted that the existing CE information systems mostly simply accumulate data such as design and specification standards and provide the information thereon to users, and thus have yet to provide the information essential for the CE and support such efforts. This study sought to prepare a system designed for sharing outstanding design documents information necessary for the CE industry, by category of construction so as to support the technological enhancement of the CE field. Toward that end, this study presented measures for constructing the system and services designed to exchange and share the outstanding design documents information and know-how by construction category necessary between ordering agencies and CE companies.

  • This study aims to review and evaluate the changes of the British social housing policy under the Conservative government(1979-1997), and to get some implications for the Korean case. The Conservatives tried to diminish the role of state in the realm of social welfare :in general, and to retreat the social housing policy in particular as a reaction to the' welfare state crisis' started from the early 1970s. In the realm of housing policy, privatisation and marketisation including the massive sale of council houses were driven enthusiastically. Public expenditure cut and redirection of the housing subsidy scheme were also implemented according to the changed policy orientation. The clear visible results of the policy changes can be seen as follows; radical changes of the housing tenure distribution, changing role of local authorities, and the worsening housing problems- housing shortages, residualisation, affordability problem, deepening dependency and the negative distribution of housing subsidy etc. Furthermore the goal of public expenditure cut, in fact, was not accomplished successfully. The results of this study support the argument that the Neo-liberalistic approach to the 'welfare state crisis' have resulted in reconstruction and redirection rather than total abolition of the role of state in welfare provision. This conclusion could provide important implications to Korean case, especially concerning the role of state in the social housing policy.

  • This paper criticized the recent Korean 'creative economy policies' focused on regional developmental implications. Even though the policies targeted to promote ICT new startups and build virtuous circle of ICT industrial ecosystem in Korea as a whole, the outside regions of the Seoul-Busan industrial axis where the bases of ICT industries are very weak would suffer from systematic exclusion in ICT investments and deepening regional disparities. Second, ICT-centered policies would selectively affect or operate commensurate with the size of regions in this low-growth, after-financial crisis age. Third, the possibilities of regional insularity and lock-in in these low levels of 'related variety' regions would worsen the industrial competitiveness. Lastly, the policies should be reoriented to fortify region-based creative economic ecosystem based upon triple helix learning region.
