The behavior of building industry metal sheeting under shear forces has been extensively studied and equations have been developed to predict its shear stiffness. Building design engineers can make use of these equations to design a metal deck form bracing system. Bridge metal deck forms differ from building industry forms by both shape and connection detail. These two factors have implications for using these equations to predict the shear stiffness of deck form systems used in the bridge industry. The conventional eccentric connection of bridge metal deck forms reduces their shear stiffness dramatically. However, recent studies have shown that a simple modification to the connection detail can significantly increase the shear stiffness of bridge metal deck form panels. To the best of the author's knowledge currently there is not a design aid that can be used by bridge engineers to estimate the stiffness of bridge metal deck forms. Therefore, bridge engineers rely on previous test results to predict the stiffness of bridge metal deck forms in bracing applications. In an effort to provide a design aid for bridge design engineers to rely on bridge metal deck forms as a bracing source during construction, cantilever shear frame test results of bridge metal deck forms with and without edge stiffened panels have been compared with the SDI Diaphragm Design Manual and ECCS Diaphragm Stressed Skin Design Manual stiffness expressions used for building industry deck forms. The bridge metal deck form systems utilized in the tests consisted of sheets with thicknesses of 0.75 mm to 1.90 mm, heights of 50 mm to 75 mm and lengths of up to 2.7 m; which are representative of bridge metal deck forms frequently employed in steel bridge constructions. The results indicate that expressions provided in these manuals to predict the shear stiffness of building metal deck form panels can be used to estimate the shear stiffness of bridge metal deck form bracing systems with certain limitations. The SDI Diaphragm Design Manual expressions result in reasonable estimates for sheet thicknesses of 0.75 mm, 0.91 mm, and 1.21 mm and underestimate the shear stiffness of 1.52 and 1.90 mm thick bridge metal deck forms. Whereas, the ECCS Diaphragm Stressed Skin Design Manual expressions significantly underestimate the shear stiffness of bridge metal deck form systems for above mentioned deck thicknesses.

LB-Deck is one of the widely used member in interior part of girders as a permanent formwork in structures, but it is not easy to apply to the exterior part of girder due to the overturning and excessive deflection. Considering allowable deflection and safety of the exterior part, Precast Concrete Cantilever Deck (PCC-Deck) is proposed with normal LB-Deck in inner part and extended bars of LB-Deck in outer part. Both numerical analyses and experimental tests were compared to check the safety and allowable deflection for 6 types of PCC-Deck, and D-type (with 16 mm top bar, 6 mm lattice bar, 12 mm bottom bar) is suggested as an optimal structural reinforcement to the 28 kN of maximum load and 27.49 mm of final deflection. The load resisting ratio of D-type under working load of 10 kN was about 2.8 times and 77.5% of improvement was observed.

The interference between the lattice bar of existing LB-DECK and the bars placed at site degrades the constructability, which is pointed as a problem. HB-DECK simplified the shape of lattice bar, and converted the direction of main rebar direction to the distributing bar direction, and installed the rib on the underside of HB-DECK to increase the stiffness. The purpose of this study is to verify the structural performance of HB-DECK and cast in place concrete slab. The static load test was conducted to verify the structural performance according to Korean highway bridge design code(2015) and composite behavior of HB-DECK with Cast in Place Concrete Slab. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was carried by MIDAS FEA, and analyzed to compare the result of analysis and experiment. At a result, composite behavior was examined between HB-DECK and cast in place concrete slab, and structural performance satisfied Korean highway bridge design code(2015).

The objective of this study is to verify whether the composite action is sufficiently strong to withstand at the interface and the structural behavior of LB-DECK panel with field concrete slab strengthened with main reinforcing bars. Static and fatigue tests are performed for LB-DECK panels with varied shapes and amounts of rebars, and the results are compared with those of field concrete panel(FCP). The test results indicate that the LB-DECK panel with 1.5 times of more rebars inside significantly increase the overall stiffness. LB-DECK penel usually shows on average 52.1 percent of improved stiffness compared with the FCP. The fatigue test results also show that the LB-DECK panel can withstand two-million cycles of repeated loads without any damage.

To study the behavior a deck when it was collide with the ship approaching to the deck to berth, it was analyzed the effect zone by the ship collision which consists of deck slab and PC piles of the quay. The numerical technique is used to simulate the behavior of the deck when the ship hit the expansion joint of deck between the deck slabs. The failure behavior and zone of the deck are determinated by the comprehensive numerical study. The impact energy by the ship is also evaluated. It is concluded that these numerical analysis gave a reasonable estimation of the remedial area of the deck damaged by ship collision.
This study, a vertical double-deck method using an electronic detonator was applied to increase excavation volume and reduce blast pollution. In the double deck method, there is a possibility that blasting efficiency may be reduced if bottom deck blasting is carried out without the free surface being completely formed after upper deck blasting. And for this reason, the blasting efficiency of the double deck method varies depending on the deck delay time. Therefore, in this study, we proposed four deck delay times applying 1 to 5 times the hole delay time. And blasting efficiency was evaluated according to fragmentation analysis. As a result of the fragmentation evaluation, the fragmentation of pattern 4 (deck delay time = hole delay time×5) was the best, but it was confirmed that fragmentation efficiency increased significantly from pattern 3 (deck delay time = hole delay time×3). Accordingly, it is analyzed that when blasting a vertical double deck, the deck delay time must be at least three times the hole delay time to obtain an efficient blasting effect.

This study is to improve constructability of LB-DECK construction in site such as inconvenience of main and distribution bars in arrangements LB-DECK Panel which is work is applied to many bridges these days as a permanent formwork. So, the constructability is improved by changing the method of allocation of main reinforcing bar and distribution bar which is reviewed for improving efficiency of design and construction process among the suggested methods. The crack shapes, deflections, and strains under static load of the improvement of LB-DECK Panel are compared and analyzed to former LB-DECK Panel. As a result, 13% of strength compared to before the improvement of LB-DECK Panel, and 10% of strength is increased in the case of slab.

We have studied the technologies for a double-deck train. But, there are no standards and test methods for a double-deck train. Therefore, we apply the standard and test method of the general train to transform the structural analysis of a double-deck train. This study is the result of a structural analysis by the finite element method for double-deck train carbodies. The results of the study can be used as basic guidelines in designing double-deck trains in the future.

In the conventional reinforced-concrete bridge deck, concrete and steels are likely to be deteriorated and corroded under the influence of noxious environment. To cope with these problems caused in the conventional reinforced-concrete bridge deck, pultruded composite bridge deck, called Delta Deck, is developed. In this paper, local deflection and fatigue characteristics of Delta Deck for DB24 truck load are evaluated through analysis and experiments.
