치과에서 디지털 x-선 영상의 이용 (Digital X-ray Imaging in Dentistry)

  • In dentistry. RadioVisioGraphy was introduced as a first electronic dental x-ray imaging modality in 1989. Thereafter. many types of direct digital radiographic system have been produced in the last decade. They are based either on charge-coupled device(CCD) or on storage phosphor technology. In addition. new types of digital radiographic system using amorphous selenium. image intensifier etc. are under development. Advantages of digital radiographic system are elimination of chemical processing, reduction in radiation dose. image processing, computer storage. electronic transfer of images and so on. Image processing includes image enhancement. image reconstruction. digital subtraction, etc. Especially digital subtraction and reconstruction can be applied in many aspects of clinical practice and research. Electronic transfer of images enables filmless dental hospital and teleradiology/teledentistry system. Since the first image management and communications system(IMACS) for dentomaxillofacial radiology was reported in 1992. IMACS in dental hospital has been increasing. Meanwhile. researches about computer-assisted diagnosis, such as structural analysis of bone trabecular patterns of mandible. feature extraction, automated identification of normal landmarks on cephalometric radiograph and automated image analysis for caries or periodontitis. have been performed actively in the last decade. Further developments in digital radiographic imaging modalities. image transmission system. imaging processing and automated analysis software will change the traditional clinical dental practice in the 21st century.

21세기 초 한국 성인들의 예술문화소비에 관한 연구 (A Study on Cultural Consumption of Korean Adults of the early 21st Century)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 문화관광부와 한국문화정책개발원이 발표한 <문화향수실태조사>를 원 자료로 하여 21세기 첫 10년간 한국 성인들의 문화소비의 특성을 규명하려는 것이다. 우선 2000년에서 2010년까지의 한국 성인들의 문화소비의 전체적인 과정은 지속적으로 향상되어왔음을 알 수 있다. 특히 이 기간은 20, 40, 60대 모든 성인세대에 있어서 대중문화가 그들의 문화소비에 있어서 가장 보편화된 문화로 전환되는 시기였다. 그밖에 주목할 수 있는 것은 성인초기인 20대가 한국문화소비의 핵심세대로 부상했다는 점이다. 이 밖에 성별차나 교육수준, 소득수준, 예술문화교육의 경험유무가 예술문화관람의향에 유의미한 영향을 주고 있다는 점이 밝혀졌다.

여성 구두 굽 높이의 변화 연구 (Style changes of women's heel height in Vogue 1950~2014)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate whether heel height changes in the U.S. market occur in a cyclical pattern and heel heights show greater within-year variability over time. Heel height data from U.S. Vogue's spring and fall editions were analyzed over the time period 1950~2014. A total of 1581 pieces of data were measured in millimeter units using Adobe Illustrator and standardized by dividing the height of the heel by the shoe length through the curved sole line. To analyze the cycle pattern of heel heights, the yearly averages were standardized by using three-year moving average technique to average out the irregular components of time series data and give a better indication of the long-term fluctuation of heel height. To identify the degree of within-year variability of heel height, the standard deviation of the average measurements for a year was calculated, and then decade averages were drawn from the yearly averaged standard deviation. One-way ANOVA was conducted to compare the within-year variability of data in heel height over the time period studied by decade. The results showed: First, there was a trend toward higher heels from the early 1950s to 2011. Second, four cyclical movements of heel height were observed from 1950 to 2007, and heel heights gradually decreased after 2008. Third, the within-year variability significantly increased over time, especially after the 1980s.

The End of the Milk Quota Regime in the European Union: The Perspective of the Dairy Sector with Particular Regard to Mountain Areas

  • In March 2015, the milk quota system in Europe that had lasted for more than 30 years was abolished to improve the competitiveness of the European dairy sector in the international market. Despite an increase in the consumption of dairy products in Europe, the milk price is expected to stabilize in the next decade after a decrease between 2015 and 2016. This stabilization of prices will be caused by a significant increase in production, with the proportion exceeding domestic demand to be exported. In the international market, the price of milk will reduce in the next decade, leading to a restructuring of the milk sector with a lower number of farms, but with higher production and efficiency. Mountain farms will follow the same trend, although these farms play an important social role by providing ecosystem services such as maintaining cultural services, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting soil stability, and improving the aesthetic value of the landscape. Nevertheless, they remain at a disadvantage compared with lowland farms. To prevent the loss of mountain farms, there is thus a need to valorize the ecosystem services that they provide and promote the processing of milk into certified products of high quality.

컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용한 변환빔 전조등 조사거리에 관한 연구 (Analysis of the Irradiation Distance of Dipped-beam Headlamps Using Computer Simulation)

  • One of the leading causes of night time automobile accidents is the darkness of surroundings. Headlamps play a critical role in casting light and providing drivers with visibility. Headlamp design and new technology have been developed recently as research has been actively carried out to increase headlamp recognition. This study statistically analyzes irradiation distance using computer simulation by categorizing headlamps applied in domestic automobiles in the last decade by year, light source, form, vehicle type, and height of installation. After analyzing results of irradiation distance, it appears irradiation distance has been increased by approximately 10m in the last decade. This increase in irradiation distance is predicted to decrease night time accidents by allowing more time to recognize potential causes of accidents.

장미조직센서를 이용한 요소의 정량 (Determination of Urea using Rose Tissue Sensor)

  • New carina 장미조직을 전극에 고정시켜 장미조직센서를 조립하였다. 이 센서로 요소를 정량하기 위한 최적 조건을 조사하였다. 또한, 센서의 선택성과 수명도 조사하였다. 그 결과, 이 조직 센서의 최적 조건은 0.20M 인산완충용에서 pH를 8.0, 온도를 $37^{\circ}C$로 하고 조직량은 50mg을 사용하였을 때였다. 이 최적 조건에서 정량 가능한 직선감응범위는 $9.0{\times}10^{-5}{\sim}4.0{\times}10^{-3}M$이며, 감응기울기는 42mV/decade였다. 검출한계는 $7.0{\times}10^{-5}M$이었으며, 감응시간은 17~19분이었다.

Agriculture in China

  • China has made rapid strides in agricultural production during the past few years. Although the absence of any serious climatic disturbances is a contributing factor, implementation of the responsibility system to reward peasant families for their initiatives has been by far the most significant. This has resulted in increased specialization, a greater requirement for technical adivsory services, and a much higher demand for farm equipment and production inputs. The revamped system has brought with it some problems such as differences in income between the most progressive producers and their less successful neighbours and urban workers, a shortage of storage, transport and processing facilities, and a strain on the national treasury to continue to subsidize farm prices. Demand for fertilizers has been increasing at a fast rate, especially for nitrogen. This has led to a serious imbalance in nutrient use which must be corrected if the current momentum in improving crop yields is to be maintained. Following a decade of total stagnation during the Cultural Revolution, agricultural research and education facilities are being strengthened. Younger scientists, many with overseas training, are being placed in key positions. China is still a developing country, and much remains to be done; however, progress in the last decade, and especially in the past five years, has been remarkable.

Looking Back over a Decade "Final Decision Call after the Accidents of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant"

  • The author Nakajima was involved in the field of disaster communications and emergency medical care as guest research scientist at the Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission established by the National Diet of Japan and reviewer of the Commission's report, and Kurokawa was the chairman of this Commission. Looking back over a decade, we are on the liability issue of bureaucrats and telecom operators, so it's becoming clear what was hidden at the time. The battery of NTT DoCoMo's mobile phone repeaters had a capacity of only about 24 hours, and communication failures increased after one day. The Government also failed to issue an announcement of "Vent from reactor" under the Telecommunications Act Article No. 129. This mistake lost the opportunity to use the third-party telecommunications (e.g. taxi radios). Furthermore, as a result of LASCOM (telecommunications satellite network for local governments via GEO) and a variety of unexpected communication failures, the evacuation order "Escape!" could not be notified to the general public well. As a result, the general public was exposed to unnecessary radiation exposure. Such bureaucratic slow action in emergencies is common in the response to the 2020 coronavirus.

A Review on the Atmospheric Concentrations of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Asia Since 2000 - Part II: Data from Developing Countries

  • This review paper describes the ambient air PAH concentrations in different developing Asian countries, including China, Afghanistan, India, Malaysia, Turkey, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Cambodia. In this study, more than 75 research papers published in the English literature were reviewed with respect to the seasonal and locational concentrations of PAHs in each of 9 different Asian countries. This study compared, discussed and tabulated the PAH concentrations in developing Asian countries over a one decade (2000-2011) period. The PAH concentrations measured in developing countries highlights the necessity to improve the air quality in those countries. Compared to the developed nations in Asia, developing countries are almost one decade away from implementing environmental policies, such as Euro standards. This review discusses the reasons for the high PAH concentrations in developing nations particularly in China and India. Based on the literature available, some suggestions are made to reduce the concentrations of PAHs in the ambient air of developing nations. The total data obtained from the literature survey is tabulated and presented as supplementary information at the end of the manuscript.

저전압동작에 적절한 SOI-like-bulk CMOS 구조에 관한 연구 (A Study on SOI-like-bulk CMOS Structure Operating in Low Voltage with Stability)

  • SOI-like-bulk CMOS device is proposed, which having the advantages of SOI(Silicon On Insulator) and protects short channel effects efficiently with adding partial epitaxial process at standard CMOS process. SOI-like-bulk NMOS and PMOS with 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ gate length have designed and optimized through analyzing the characteristics of these devices and applying again to the design of processes. The threshold voltages of the designed NMOS and PMOS are 0.3[V], -0.35[V] respectively and those have shown the stable characteristics under 1.5[V] gate and drain voltages. The leakage current of typical bulk-CMOS increase with shortening the channel length, but the proposed structures on this a study reduce the leakage current and improve the subthreshold characteristics at the same time. In addition, subthreshold swing value, S is 70.91[mV/decade] in SOI-like-bulk NMOS and 63.37[mV/ decade] SOI-like-bulk PMOS. And the characteristics of SOI-like-bulk CMOS are better than those of standard bulk CMOS. To validate the circuit application, CMOS inverter circuit has designed and transient & DC transfer characteristics are analyzed with mixed mode simulation.
