  • Objectives : This study were invesitigated papers published in international journals to assess the effect of Korean Medicine treatments for menopausal depression. Through this review, we aimed to research more effective ways of menopausal depression treatment. Methods : The database of this review was created through searching PubMed from Jan, 2005 to Feb, 2015 : using terms of ‘menopausal depression’ and ‘post menopausal depression’ with ‘acupuncture’, ‘alternative medicine’, ‘CAM’ and ‘herbal medicine’. Results : 119 studies were analyzed but some of them were excluded due to lack of relevance or noncomformity of subjects. Finally, 16 studies were included in this review. Conclusions : In 16 studies, the acupuncture and herb decoction had significant interventions to improve menopausal depression. Therefore Acupuncture and herbal medicine may be effective treatment method of menopausal depression.

  • PABAP (Palindrome Analysis by BLAST Program) is an analysis system that identifies palindromic sequences from a large genome sequence up to several megabases long. It uses NCBI BLAST as a searching engine, and data processing such as alignment filtration and detection of inverted repeats which satisfy user-defined parameters is performed by manipulating data after populating into a MySQL database. PABAP outperforms publicly available palindrome search program in that it can detect large palindrome with internal spacer at a faster speed from bacterial genomes. It is a standalone application and is freely available for noncommercial users.

  • A general purpose fatigue analysis software to predict fatigue lives of mechanical components and structures was developed. This software has some characteristic features including functions of searching weak regions on the free surface in order to reduce computing time significantly, a database of fatigue properties for various materials. and an expert system which can assist any users to get more proper results. This software can be used in the environment consists of commercial finite element packages. Using the software developed fatigue analyses for a SAE keyhole specimen and an automobile knuckle were carried out. It was observed that the results were agree well with those from commercial packages.

대용량 XML 문서의 효율적인 질의 처리를 위한 세그먼트 기반 역 인덱스 (Segment-Based Inverted Index for Querying Large XML Documents)

  • The existing XML storage methods which use relational data model, usually store path information for every node type including literal contents in order to keep the structural information of XML documents. Such path information is usually maintained by an inverted index to efficiently process XPath queries for large XML documents. In this study, We propose an improved approach that retrieve information from the large volume of XML documents stored in a relational database, while using a segment-based inverted index for path searches. Our new approach can reduce the number of searching an inverted index for getting target path information. We show the effectiveness of this approach through several experiments that compare XPath query performance with the existing methods.

  • 전화를 통해 인터넷 정보를 들을 수 있는 보이스 포탈(Voice Portal) 서비스가 인기를 얻고 있다. Voice Portal 서비스란 알고자 하는 정보를 Speech Recognition System에 음성으로 명령하면 전화를 통해 음성으로 원하는 정보를 듣는 서비스이다. Authentication의 절차를 수행하는 SMS (Short Message Service) 서버 Module, PSTN과 Database 서버사이의 Interface를 제공하는 CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) Module, CTI 서버와 WWW (World Wide Web) 사이의 Voice XML Module, 정보를 검색하기 위한 Searching Module들이 필요하다. 본 논문은 Speech Recognition technology를 기반으로 한 CTI Module 설계를 구현하였다. 또한 인정 방식으로 Random한 일회용 password를 기반으로 한 SMS Authentication을 택하므로 더욱 더 안정된 서비스 제공을 목적으로 하였다.

  • Abstract : Multimedia data now one of the widely used information in all the fields as the fast developments of computer techniques have been made. Traditional database systems based on textual information have limitations when applied to multimedia information. This is because simple textual descriptions are ambiguous and inadequate for searching multimedia information for multimedia databases and digital libraries. Thus, especially for image data, which is one of the important multimedia information types, which can retrieve and browse image data on the basis of pictorial queries. Therefore, this paper presents an efficient method for describing texture information in image data.

  • Idiopathic scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional deformity of the spine. There is two ways in treatment of scoliosis, normally. In order to prevent a progressive course of the disorder, conservative treatment is started in selected patients. And sometimes, operation is performed to severe patients. But, application standard is vague. So We reviewed the latest medical theses. English language articles in Medline database between 2003 and 2005. 8. 31. were reviewed. The searching words was Idiopathic scoliosis, conservative treatment, brace. exercise. We classified 27 articles. The results of this research demonstrate that conservative treatment is more effective than observation until operation.

개선된 n-항목 연관 규칙 알고리즘 연구 (A Study on the Advanced Association Rules Algorithm of n-Items)

  • The transaction tables of the existing association algorithms have two column attributes : It is composed of transaction identifier (Transaction_id) and an item identifier (item). In this kind of structure, as the volume of data becomes larger, the performance for the SQL query statements came applicable decreases. Therefore, we propose advanced association rules algorithm of n-items which can transact multiple items (Transaction_id, Item 1, Item 2…, Item n). In this structure, performance hours can be contracted more than the single item structures, because count can be computed by query of the input transaction tables. Our experimental results indicate that performance of the n items structure is up to 2 times better than the single item. As a result of this paper, the proposed algorithm can be applied to internet shopping, searching engine and etc.

Proteomic Analysis of Drought Stress-Responsive Proteins in Rice Endosperm Affecting Grain Quality

  • Drought stress is one of the major abiotic stresses in agriculture worldwide. We report here a proteomic approach to investigate the impact of post-fertilization drought on grain quality in rice seed endosperm (Oryza sativa cv. IR-64). Plants were stressed for 4 days at 3 days before heading. Total proteins of endosperm were extracted and separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. Not many protein spots showed differential accumulation in drought-stressed samples. More than 400 protein spots were reproducibly detected, including three that were up-regulated and five down-regulated. Mass spectrometry analysis and database searching helped us to identify six spots representing different proteins. Functionally, the identified proteins were related to protein synthesis and carbohydrate metabolism, such as Granule-Bound Starch Synthase (GBSS, Wx protein), which is thought to play a very important role in starch biosynthesis and quality, a very crucial factor in determining rice grain quality.

화학사고 이력관리시스템 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study of Development of Chemical Accident Tracking System)

  • The systematic information management of chemical accidents has been required as a tool for the policy making, system improvement and release of information concerning accident prevention. However, there is not yet a systematic chemical accidents tracking system in Korea, which make confusion among the related government agencies and the parties to accidents that the related statistics are different from each others. In this study, We developed the Chemical Accident Tracking System (CATS) using chemical accident classification which was made up of 12 upper classes, 70 middle classes, 272 lower classes. The CATS is mainly consist list up module, reporting module, searching and statistic module, etc. The CATS is expected to be applied to the information tracking and database system for chemical accidents and improve its manageability.
