Development and validation of a Korean Affective Voice Database (한국형 감정 음성 데이터베이스 구축을 위한 타당도 연구)

  • In this study, we reported the validation results of the Korean Affective Voice Database (KAV DB), an affective voice database available for scientific and clinical use, comprising a total of 113 validated affective voice stimuli. The KAV DB includes audio-recordings of two actors (one male and one female), each uttering 10 semantically neutral sentences with the intention to convey six different affective states (happiness, anger, fear, sadness, surprise, and neutral). The database was organized into three separate voice stimulus sets in order to validate the KAV DB. Participants rated the stimuli on six rating scales corresponding to the six targeted affective states by using a 100 horizontal visual analog scale. The KAV DB showed high internal consistency for voice stimuli (Cronbach's α=.847). The database had high sensitivity (mean=82.8%) and specificity (mean=83.8%). The KAV DB is expected to be useful for both academic research and clinical purposes in the field of communication disorders.   • 본 논문에서는 ETRI 의 음성정보연구센터에서 추진하고 있는 공통 음성 DB 구축을 위한 발성목록의 설계 방법 및 그 내용에 대해 기술한다. 이 공통 음성 DB는 국내의 학계와 연구기관, 산업체에 배포하여 음성기술개발에 활용될 수 있도록 하려는 목적으로 구축되는 대규모의 DB인 만큼, 다양한 활용 분야를 고려하여 설계되었다. 따라서 내용적으로 중립성을 유지하면서도 효율성과 기능성을 고려하여 설계한 것이 이번 발성목록 설계의 특징이라고 할 수 있다. 이번 발성목록은 크게 음성 인식용 DB 와 낭독체 합성용 DB, 대화체 합성용 DB, 그리고 화자 인식용 DB 분야로 나뉘어진다. 이 논문에서는 각 DB 종류별로 발성 목록의 내용과 작성 방법, 그리고 이들을 작성함에 있어서 고려된 사항 등을 기술한다.

'94년 정보통신진흥기금 지원계획

  • 체신부는 '93년부터 한국전자통신연구소를 통해 매년 기업의 정보통신에 관한 자발적인 연구ㆍ개발활동을 장려하기 위해 정보통신산업부문의 설비구입 및 기술개발과제에 대하여 장기저리로 자금을 지원하고 있다. 특히 금년도에는 '93년보다 100% 이상이 늘어난 총 2,456억의 지원자금을 책정해 놓고 있다. '93년도에는 DB구축 및 설비도입 자금으로 10개 DB업체가 10개 과제에 27억 6천 5백만원을 배정 받은바 있다. 한국DB진흥센터는 DB사업 관련기업들의 편의를 위해 '94년도 정보통신진흥기금 지원계획에 관한 전반적인 사항들을 안내하고 사업계획신청서도 배부할 계획이다.(3월호에는 상공부/과기처보유자금 안내 예정)

  • 한국데이터베이스진흥센터는‘지식정보자원관리사업’을 통해 구축된 지식정보 DB의 품질을 점검해 보기 위해, 매월 1종의 DB를 선정해 품질을 평가하고, 그 결과를 2005년도‘DB 서비스 평가’기획 시리즈로 연재한다. 특히 이번 기획 평가는 사용자 관점에서 DB품질을 조명해 보는 만큼, 지식정보 DB의 활용도 극대화를 위한 실천적 대안 마련에 도움이 될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

Access Control Mechanism for CouchDB

  • Recently, big data applications need another database different from the Relation database. NoSQL databases are used to save and handle massive amounts of data. NoSQL databases have many advantages over traditional databases like flexibility, efficiently processing data, scalability, and dynamic schemas. Most of the current applications are based on the web, and the size of data is in increasing. NoSQL databases are expected to be used on a more and large scale in the future. However, NoSQL suffers from many security issues, and one of them is access control. Many recent applications need Fine-Grained Access control (FGAC). The integration of the NoSQL databases with FGAC will increase their usability in various fields. It will offer customized data protection levels and enhance security in NoSQL databases. There are different NoSQL database models, and a document-based database is one type of them. In this research, we choose the CouchDB NoSQL document database and develop an access control mechanism that works at a fain-grained level. The proposed mechanism uses role-based access control of CouchDB and restricts read access to work at the document level. The experiment shows that our mechanism effectively works at the document level in CouchDB with good execution time.

  • Since 1995, One of the NGIS(National Geographic Information System) projects, the underground utilities project, has been finished in 2003. The 19 cities in korea for this project will use underground utilities management system using underground utilities database focusing on water and sewage system. However, special expert, technical and experience problem in computer environment has not been had in working department for water and sewage management and maintenance for each local government. The management and maintenance by underground utilities database by manual method is getting lowered a data qualify of underground utilities database because of the data omitting, error in writing and securing of the lasted database. Therefore, in this study, Application test for field workers using a mobile tool and environment analysis of wireless communication in Korea and application test of GPS receiver for mobile tools had been processed and made a mobile working environment. The efficient management and maintenance method for underground utilities database has been developed an off-line method for modification and update of database about general work which has a high working frequency because of the limitation of wireless communication environment. Also, the emergency working has been applied for on-line method.

  • According to various information needs of end-users in information society, it brings forward a study on a database(DB) product costing method in order to activate the DB industry. The objective of this paper is to propose the DB product costing method of the DB service. The first thing classifies the elements of DB product cost accounting by the activities of the circulation system of information in the DB service. Based on the assumptions in terms of DB product cost accounting, the second is to develop its model. The last is to present the process of DB product cost accounting by applying the model to a company which provides the DB service. It is necessary to research continuously regarding the DB product costing method because its purpose is to decide a DB service charge. The right pricing decision in the DB service charge will contribute toward the growth of the DB industry acceleratedly.

  • The Sample Cohort DB supplied by the National Health Insurance Service is a valuable resource for statistical studies as well as for health and medical studies. It takes significant time and effort to extract data from this Cohort DB having a large size. As such, we introduce a database system, conveniently called the National Health Insurance Service Cohort DB Extract Tool (NICE Tool), which supports several useful operations for effectively and efficiently managing the Cohort DB. For example, researchers can extract variables and cases related with study by simply clicking a computer mouse without any prior knowledge regarding SAS DATA step or SQL. We expect that NICE Tool will facilitate the faster extraction of data and eventually lead to the active use of the Cohort DB for research purposes.

An Integrated Approach to the GIS Data Reengineering for the New Korea Geodetic Datum (세계측지계 도입에 따른 공간데이터 재정비를 위한 통합모델 연구)

  • The newly adopted Korea Geodetic Datum (a.k.a. KGD2002) calls for massive reengineering work on geospatial dataset. The main focus of our study is placed on the strategy and system implementations of the required data reengineering with a keen attention to integrated approaches to interoperability, standardization, and database utilization. Our reengineering strategy includes file-to-file, file-to-DB, DB-to-file, and DB-to-DB conversion for the coordinate transformation of KGD2002. In addition to the map formats of existing standards such as DXF and Shapefile, the newly recommended standards such as GML and SVG are also accommodated in our reengineering environment. These four types of standard format may be imported into and exported from spatial database via KGD2002 transformation component. The DB-to-DB conversion, in particular, includes not only intra-database conversion but also inter-database conversion between SDE/Oracle and Oracle Spatial. All these implementations were carried out in multiple computing environments: desktop and the Web. The feasibility test of our system shows that the coordinate differences between Bessel and GRS80 ellipsoid agree with the criteria presented in the existing researches.
