  • It is not possible to exchange parametric information of CAD (Computer Aided Design) models based on the current version of STEP (Standard leer the Exchange of Product model data). The design intent can be lost during the STEP transfer of CAD models. The ISO Parametrics Group has proposed the SMCH (Solid Model Construction History) schema in June 2000 that includes structures fur exchange of parametric information. This paper proposes the macro parametric approach that is intended to provide capabilities to transfer parametric information. In this approach, CAD models are exchanged in the form of macro files. The macro file contains user commands which are used in the modeling phase. To exchange CAD models using the macro parametric approach, modeling commands of commercial CAD systems are analyzed. Those commands are classified by the grouping method suggested by Bill Anderson. As a neutral file format, a standard modeling commands set has been defined. Mapping relations between the standard modeling commands set and the native modeling commands set of commercial CAD systems are defined.

  • CAD systems have been developed with network technology and it is needed to exchange product data among them. STEP becomes world-wide international standard to exchange CAD data among various heterogeneous CAD systems in manufacturing industrial fields. We report results to test errors that can happen when exchanging STEP files of product model through the STEP translator of different commercial CAD systems. Also the tests of Korean Character, Hangul, have been carried out. And also we report the STEP rallies held twice in Korea and several rounds abroad, and their testing results are shown as tables and graphs. The tested results can be used for exchanging product models to the next domestic STEP Rally and extended to Northeastem Asian STEP rally by steadily contacting with the organizations for Asian STEP centers such as JSTEP(Japan) and CSTEP(China). Finally we expect that the result can be used to specify STEP standardization in the field of managing product data.

  • The information in physical planning field shows the socio-economic potentials of land resources while cadastral data does the physical and legal realities of the land. The two domains commonly deal with land information but have different views. Cadastre has to evolved to the multi-purpose ones which provide value-added information and support a wide spectrum of decision makers by mixing their own information with other spatial/non-spatial databases. In this context, the demands of data exchange between the two domains is growing up but this cannot be done without resolving the heterogeneity between the two information applications. Both of either discipline sees the reality within its own scope, which means each has a unique way to abstract real world phenomena to the database. The heterogeneity problem emerges when an GIS is autonomously and independently established. It causes considerable communication difficulties since heterogeneity of representations forms unique data semantics for each database. The semantic heterogeneity obviously creates an obstacle to data exchange but, at the same time, it can be a key to solve the problems too. Therefore, the study focuses on facilitating data sharing between the fields of cadastre and physical planning by resolving the semantic heterogeneity. The core job is developing a conversion mechanism of cadastral data into the information for the physical planning by DB coupling techniques.

  • The study aims to investigate the pattern of relationships such as symmetric or asymmetric, between exchange rate and foreign direct investment in Bangladesh by applying Autoregressive Distributed Lagged (ARDL) and nonlinear ARDL. In this study, we employed quarterly data for the period of 1974Q1 to 2016Q4. Data were collected and aggregated from various sources namely, Bangladesh Economic Review published by Ministry of Finance and statistical yearbook published by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and an annual report published by Bangladesh Bank. The relationship between exchange rate and FDI inflows attract immense interest in the recent periods, especially for developing countries' perspective. The results of the study ascertain the long run relationship between FDI, exchange rate, monetary policy, and fiscal policy. Considering the asymmetric assumption, the findings from NARDL confirm the existence of a long-run asymmetric relationship in the empirical equation. In the long run, it is observed that positive change that is the appreciation of exchange rate against USD decrease FDI inflows and negative shocks results in grater inflows of FDI, however, the positive shocks produce higher intensity that negative shocks in Exchange rate. For directional causality, the coefficients of error correction term confirm long-run causality, in particular, bidirectional causality unveiled between FDI and exchange rate.

  • A product is designed through the collaboration among engineers in several fields such as design, analysis, and manufacturing. These series of functions are performed repeatedly during the design process. An easy access and exchange of the model data is one of the important elements that help to shorten production development time. Especially, the importance of data exchange between CAD and CAE applications is increasing in the field of verification and estimation of the products. However, information and knowledge of model which is generated by a CAD software cannot be transferred by a function of CAE software, as an exchange of product data between CAD and CAE applications. It causes a delay in design analysis and eventually discourages a designer's effort in improving his design. Therefore, we need to integrate a commercial CAD and CAE applications effectively and to use the same interface on a product model obtained in a distributed environment. This paper shows how to implement a model exchange between CAD and CAE by a web-service and how to provide a communication environment among engineers.

  • This study aims to understand microaggressions directed toward international students from the perspective of international exchange professionals, who tend to be in relatively close contact with international students. This study targeted professionals who directly advise and support international students at university international exchange centers in J and G cities. The data were collected by conducting focus group interviews with seven participants in two groups from 25 May to 8 June 2023. Data were collected by conducting focus group interviews of seven participants in two groups from 25 May to 8 June 2023. After analyzing the interview data using thematic analysis, two themes emerged: the experiences of international students and the perspectives of international exchange professionals. The experience of international were further categorized into three sub-themes: differences in cultural context, academic discrimination, and discrimination due to lack of information. The perspectives of international exchange professionals were further categorized into three sub-themes: limited access to infrastructure, different perspectives depending on the level of the country, and consideration as a barrier. It is hoped that the findings of this study, obtained by exploring the microdiscrimination faced by international students at universities, will facilitate the development of different systems and policy recommendations to improve the experiences of international students.

  • Purpose: In the era of global economic integration, China's doors of openness have widened, leading to increasingly frequent economic and trade exchanges between countries. Exchange rates, as a crucial economic lever for regulating foreign markets, play a vital role in the balanced development of a nation's international trade. Therefore, the relationship between exchange rate fluctuations and foreign trade has garnered widespread attention. Research design, data and methodology: This study utilizes import and export trade data between China and five ASEAN countries from 1998 to 2019. It employs regression analysis to examine the specific impact of the real effective exchange rate of the Renminbi on China's import and export trade with these ASEAN nations. Results: The empirical analysis yields the following conclusions: Firstly, the real effective exchange rate of the Renminbi exhibits a long-term stable relationship with China's import and export trade with the five ASEAN countries. Renminbi appreciation contributes to an increase in export trade volume but is detrimental to import trade. While this conclusion may deviate from classical trade theories, it aligns with the practical realities of China's foreign trade. Secondly, the coefficients before Gross Domestic Product (GDP) all display positive values, indicating that the growth of total economic demand has a stimulating effect on China's import and export trade.

  • The predictions of the COBRA-IV-I code with the modified turbulent mixing and void drift models have been compared with the diabatic two-phase flow data on equilibrium quality. The turbulent mixing model based on an equal mass exchange of the existing COBRA-IV-I code has been modified to that based on an equal volume exchange between adjacent subchannels, and a void drift model has been newly incorporated in the code. To evaluate the performance of the equal volume exchange turbulent mixing model and the effects of the void drift model, the diabatic steam-water two-phase flow data obtained for the 9-rod bundle test under the typical operating conditions of the boiling water reactor(BWR) conducted by the General Electric (GE) were analyzed by the modified COBRA-IV-I code. The analysis indicates that the equal volume exchange turbulent mixing model with void drift predicts the observed two-phase flow data trends better than the equal mass exchange model, and to predict the correct data trends a more physically based void drift model need to be developed.

  • For the success to PLM in manufacturing industries, the creation, management and coordination of all product-related information are essential, and the exchange of product information and data has become an important part of the product development. In this paper, we define the neutral schema, and it refers to PLM Services. Based on this neutral schema, we develop the PLM Integrator to exchange product information and data between diverse heterogeneous systems including PDM systems. We apply the PLM Integrator developed in this paper to commercial PDM systems such as SmarTeam, Teamcenter Engineering and MEMPHIS which is a data exchange middleware system for VR applications. By implementations, exchanges of product information and data can be done without loss of information. Also, the PLM Integrator can upload and download product information, data and related files. The result of this paper can not only reduce unnecessary efforts for data exchanging between different information systems including PDM/PLM systems but also provide a collaborative environment for PLM.
