Omega-3 fatty acids are a specific type of unsaturated fat that the body cannot manufacture on its own, so they must be obtained from food which is essential fatty acids (EFAs). Omega-3 fatty acids consist of three types which are a-Linolenic Acid (ALA), Eicosapentaenoic (ELA), and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Especially, EFAs help to prevent skin and hair drying, acne, eczema, prevention from allergies, brittle nails, rashes, and tiny lumps. The aim of this study is to investigate improvement and protection for hair damaged by chemical treatment with omega-3 formulated shampoo. We selected virgin hair sample and divided into two groups for bleaching once and three times and then damaged hair by changing the number of hair bleaching (twice with interval of 15 minutes). Each bleached hair was treated by five different kinds of shampoo (Control, Horse shampoo, DHA shampoo, EPA shampoo, Omega-3 shampoo mixture). Apart from this, EPA/DHA 2, 5, 8, 10 and 12% shampoo were prepared and treated to hair for comparing rate of progress in damaged hair. To quantify improved condition of damaged hair, we performed Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) for ultrastructure of damaged hair fraction, measurement of thickness change and BCA Protein Assay for recovery rate of damaged hair. The moisture in hair was measured by Thermal analysis machine. In results, we observed the particle of hair surface damaged by bleaching treatment were well improved with treatment with EPA and DHA shampoo. Also, quantity of protein was lowered with higher concentration of EPA & DHA i.e., 8 and 12 % then compared with horse oil shampoo in three times treatment group. It shows that bleached hair have been recovered by treating rapidly and get protective coat. In conclusion, EPA and DHA shampoo improved damaged hair, especially with EPA / DHA 12% shampoo. Also, EPA shampoo could protect the damaged hair depending on increasing concentration of EPA. Therefore, we conclude omega-3 shampoo could make damaged hair protect and get healthy hair environment.

Among many factors to be considered for higher safety level requirements, the hull stability in intact and damaged conditions in seaways is of utmost importance. Since the assessment of a damaged ship is complicated due to the highly non-linear behavior, it is widely acknowledged that computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods are one of the most feasible approaches. Although many research activities are being reported on the damaged ship stability recently, most of them are not designed for validation of CFD studies. In this study, well-designed model tests were performed to build a CFD validation database, which is essential in developing better CFD methods for the damage stability assessment. The geometry of the damaged compartment and test conditions were determined based on preliminary CFD simulations. Free roll decay tests in calm water with both intact and damaged ships were performed and the roll motion characteristics were compared. The damaged ship showed a larger roll damping coefficient and more rapid decrease of roll amplitude than the intact ship. The primary reason of these efforts can be explained by the movement of the flooded water.

After excavation or blasting, rock properties within an excavation damaged zone can be perpetually weakened on account of stress redistribution or blasting impact. In the present study, the excavation damaged zone is applied to a rock slope. The objective of this research is to compare the mechanical stability of the rock slope depending on the presence of the damaged zone using 2-dimensional modeling and analyze factors affecting factor-of-safety. From the modeling, it was founded that the mechanical stability of the rock slope is significantly dependent on the presence of the damaged zone. In particular, factor-of-safety with a consideration of the damaged zone decreased by approximately 49.4% in comparison with no damaged zone. Factor analysis by fractional factorial design was carried out on factor-of-safety. It showed that the key parameters affecting factor-of-safety are angle of the slope, cohesion, internal friction angle and height.
To evaluate an effect of pathological liver damage on the conjugation of cyclohexane metabolites, rats were pretreated with 50% $CCl_4$ dissolved in olive oil (0.1 ml/100 g body weight) 10 or 17 times intraperitoneally at intervals of every other day. On the basis of liver function, the animals pretreated with $CCl_4$ 10 times were identified as acutely liver damaged ones and the animals pretreated with $CCl_4$ 17 times were identified as severly liver damaged ones. To these liver damaged animals, cyclohexane (a single dose of 1.56 g/kg body weight, i.p.) was administered at 48 hr after the last injection of $CCl_4$. The rats were sacrificed at 4 or 8 hr after injection of cyclohexane. The cyclohexane metabolites, cyclohexanol (CH-ol), cyclohexane-1,2-diol (CH-1,2-diol), cyclohexane-1,4-diol (CH-1,4-diol), and their glucuronyl conjugates and cyclohexanone were detected in the urine of cyclohexane treated rats. The urinary concentration of cyclohexane metabolites was generally more increased in liver damaged animals than normal ones, and the increasing rate was higher in $CCl_4$ 17 times injected rats than 10 times injected ones. And liver damaged.ats, especially $CCl_4$ 17 times treated ones, had an enhanced ability of glucuronyl conjugation to CH-ol analogues compared with normal group. Futhermore, CH-1,2 and 1,4-diol were all conjugated with glucuronic acid in $CCl_4$ 17 times injected animals. On the other hand, the increasing rate of activities of hepatic cytochrome P450 dependent aniline hydroxylase, alcohol dehydrogenase and urine diphosphate glucuronyl transferase was higher in 17 times $CCl_4$-treated rats compared with normal and $CCl_4$ 10 times injected animals. Taken all together, it is assumed that an increased urinary excretion amount of cyclohexane metabolites in liver damaged rats might be caused by an increase in the activities of cyclohexane metabolizing enzymes. And enhanced conjugating ability of CH-ol in liver damaged animals and novel finding of conjugating form of CH-1,2 and 1,4-diol might be caused by increase in the activity of hepatic diphosphouridine glucuronyltransferase.

Because mountain area covers a large proportion of entire country, the forest fire have been an important matter in disaster prevention in Korea. Estimation of damaged area after forest fire would be very important because it would be the basis to make budget or to calculate quantities in the restoration plan for the damaged area. In Korea, the damaged area from forest fire is generally surveyed using GPS. In practice, however, the estimation of damaged area from forest fire have been inaccurate in lots of case due to some problems. Korea Forest Service which is taking charge of prevention of forest fire in Korea is managing a large number of helicopters for forest service on the whole country. So, it would be possible to take snapshots of the damaged area after forest fire from the helicopter using a digital camera. This study aims to establish a suitable method to estimate damaged area after forest fire using snapshots which are taken in the air using a digital camera. So, several approaches were implemented and compared. In future, results of this study could be used in a development of a system for investigation of damages from forest fire using digital photographs.

In this study, we 1) identified the damaged areas along the south limit line (SLL) of the demilitarized zone (DMZ) by the military's 'DMZ barren land campaign', and 2) categorized the identified damaged areas into a few ecological types. Using high-resolution satellite images, we delineated the total damaged areas to be 1,183.2 ha, which accounted for 50.1% of the 100-m northern buffer regions from the SLL. Of the total damaged areas, 16% were severely damaged, i.e., they had been damaged until recently and so remained barren without vegetation cover. In other areas, the levels of damage were either moderate (59.9%) or slight (24.1%), due to natural succession that turned those areas to grassland or forest. Using satellite image-derived land cover maps and climatic and topographic data, we categorized the damaged areas into seven types: lowland grassland (19.8%), western lowland forest (21.4%), low-altitude forest (25.5%), mid-altitude forest (18.4%), high-altitude forest (6.8%), vicinity in east coast (7.9%), and waterbody (0.2%). These types can be used to identify proper measures to restore ecosystems in the DMZ for now and after Korean reunification.

Related to the tsunami impact caused by the 2004 Sumatra earthquake, field excursion of the title 'Tsunami impact on the coastal zone of Thailand' was carried out along the damaged coasts of Thailand fur three days. The damaged coastal zones along the Andaman Sea coasts of Thailand are classified into the severely damaged, the moderately damaged, and the slightly damaged coastal zone by the degree of damage. Channels of the river- mouths were widen, and the beach sands were eroded, transported, and then redeposited in the near shore or in the back beach area. Field excursion stops were 12 in the representative areas like Phang Nga province, the severely damaged coastal zone and Phuket Island, the slightly damaged coastal zone. In this report, the geo-logical effects on the coastal zone of Thailand by tsunami will be mainly illustrated by the satellite data before and after tsunami and the photographs taken during the field excursion.
Recently, there is an increase in fire incidents in building structures. Due to this, the importance of fire-damaged buildings' safety diagnosis and evaluation after fire is growing. However, the existing fire-damaged safety diagnosis and evaluation methods are personnel-oriented, so the diagnostic results are intervened by investigators' subjectivity and unquantified. Thus, improper repair and reinforcement can result in secondary damage accidents and economic losses. In order to overcome these limitations, this study proposes using 3D laser scanning technology. The case analysis of fire-damaged building structures was conducted to verify the effectiveness of accuracy and manpowering by comparing the existing method and the proposed method. The proposed method using 3D laser scanning technology to obtain point cloud data of fire-damaged field. The point cloud data and BIM model is combined to inspect the fire-damaged area and depth. From inspection, quantified repair and reinforcement quantity take-off can be acquired. Also, the proposed method saves half of the manpowering within same time period compared to the existing method. Therefore, it seems that using 3D laser scanning technology in fire-damaged safety diagnosis and evaluation will improve in accuracy and saving time and manpowering.

This study attempted to investigate the effect of manufacturing a formulation with lavender extract and applying it to damaged hair. The experimental material was prepared by adding 0 g, 3 g 6 g, and 9 g of lavender extract to the perm base agent. The prepared formulation was applied to four damaged hair samples and compared and analyzed. As a measurement method for the effect on damaged hair, tensile strength, absorbance using methylene blue, and gloss were measured. Statistical analysis was conducted for the reliability of the research results. The tensile strength measurement results showed that the tensile strength of the sample applied with a formulation containing 6 g and 9 g at 8 levels increased, affecting damaged hair. As a result of absorbance analysis using methylene blue, it was found that the absorbance of all samples applied by adding extracts decreased, affecting damaged hair. The gloss measurement results showed that the addition of 9 g affected the damaged hair. In conclusion, it can be seen that lavender extract affects damaged hair, so it is considered to have an effect of improving Damage hair.
The Mechanical and drying characteristics of Pinus densiflora wood, which was damaged by forest fire, and sound wood were examined. There were no significant differences in axial compressive properties, shearing strength and impact bending absorbed energy between damaged and sound woods. But the bending properties of damaged wood were slightly higher than those of sound wood. The green moisture content of sapwood in damaged wood was lower than that in sound wood, but oven-drying rate was similar in both woods. Number of initial check in damaged wood was smaller than that in sound wood, and inner check in damaged and sound woods was not observed. Consequently, it is considered that mostly damaged wood by forest fire can be used for wood material after removing the bark.
