  • The rock-carved seated Buddha of Unju temple of Hwasun, Jeonnam, the only Triad Buddha among the stone Buddhas of Unju temple, is currently designated as a tangible cultural property No. 275 of Jeollanam-do. The rock of the seated Triad Buddha bedrock is light-green andesitic tuff breccia that is composed of quartz and feldspar. The results of measurement of the whole rock magnetic susceptibility characteristics, the rock consists of a single sedimentary layer from top to bottom. The results of ultrasonic velocity measurement, show that the number of frequency of 1500~2000 m/s increased and the number of frequency of 2000~2500 m/s decreased in 2009 compared to 2015, and the measurement value for 2000 m/s or below was 87.5% in 2015, a 68.8% increase in comparison to that in 2009. Moreover, on the top, bottom, left side, and head areas of the Triad Buddha, a partial expanding tendency was observed in the range of low ultrasonic velocity. As weathering of the Triad Buddha occurs in the long term, on-going monitoring is required to ascertain the degree of change with time.

  • The lime-soil mixture on barrier (LSMB) tomb is a representative type of tomb from the Joseon Dynasty. It is an important reference for understanding the society and funeral culture of that time. The LSMB excavated at the Gungri site were classified with manufacturing type. The ultrasonic velocity and rebound hardness method were used to estimate the physical properties of the LSMB. The strength values on the tomb of layered wall were different depend on measuring method. The compressive strengths of the tomb with layered wall, which is calculated by ultrasonic velocity and rebound hardness ranged from 4.0 to 355 (mean 43.6) $kgf/cm^2$ and 18.8 to 538 (mean 245.2) $kgf/cm^2$ ranges. The damage to the tomb with integrated wall during excavation and removal of the corpse could be a reason for the difference in results obtained using ultrasonic velocity method. Compressive strengths of tombs with integrated wall, which is calculated by ultrasonic velocity and rebound hardness ranged from 5.7 to 793 (mean 281.6) $kgf/cm^2$ and 4.5 to 550.5 (mean 172.4) $kgf/cm^2$ values. Physical properties on the tombs of integrated wall had different in compressive strength value but showed similar tendency. Thus, evaluation of the physical properties has shown that measuring ultrasonic velocity and rebound hardness methods are more effective in the LSMB with integrated walls. Further, the strength values obtained through the rebound hardness method are more constant than those obtained through the ultrasonic method due to the small detection area required by the former.

  • The Korean society has become increasingly concerned about the safety consciousness because of the Sewol Ferry disaster in April 2014. This shows the absence of social system and safety consciousness of Korean society that has been rapidly growing through fast industrialization. The purpose of this paper is to suggest guidelines for the production of a safety animation by approaching the discourse of public value. For this research process, first, literature review will be conducted by focusing on the safety culture, causes of safety accidents, safety education and educational effect using animation. Second, I will analyze 11 safety animation films by focusing on (1) construction of accident environment(narrative, character and background design) (2) exploration of dangerous elements and accident happening(accident type and dangerous elements, method of direction for accident happening, damage degree) (3) the guideline for safety behaviour. Third, guidelines for the production of safety animation will be suggested by analyzing the results of literature reviews and case studies in a comprehensive way. It is expected that this paper will be used as a basic data for academic research and animation production related to the safety accident.

  • Changes in climate have largely increased concentrated heavy rainfall, which in turn is causing enormous damages to humans and properties. Floods are one of the most deadly and damaging natural disasters known to mankind. The flood forecasting and warning system concentrates on reducing injuries, deaths, and property damage caused by floods. Therefore, the exact relationship and the spatial variability analysis of hydrometeorological elements and characteristic factors is critical elements to reduce the uncertainty in rainfall-runoff model. In this study, grid resolution depending on the topographic factor in rainfall-runoff models presents how to respond. semi-distribution of rainfall-runoff model using the model GRM simulated and calibrated rainfall-runoff in the Gamcheon and Naeseongcheon watershed. To run the GRM model, input grid data used rainfall (two event), DEM, landuse and soil. This study selected cell size of 500 m(basic), 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km and 12 km. According to the resolution of each grid, in order to compare simulation results, the runoff hydrograph has been made and the runoff has also been simulated. As a result, runoff volume and peak discharge which simulated cell size of DEM 500 m~12 km were continuously reduced. that results showed decrease tendency. However, input grid data except for DEM have not contributed increase or decrease runoff tendency. These results showed that the more increased cell size of DEM make the more decreased slope value because of the increased horizontal distance.

  • Due to the character of the climate of Korea, the pavement of a road is Influenced by freezing in winter season and thawing in thawing season. In the last few years, several articles have been devoted to the study to minimize the damage of freezing and thawing action. The purpose of this paper is to identify appropriacy of factors that influence road pavement thickness. We conduct the decision tree analysis on the field data of road pavement. The target variable is 'Frost penetration'. This value was calculated from the temperature data. The input variables are 'Region', 'Type of road pavement', 'Anti-frost layer', 'Month' and 'Air temperature'. The region was divided into 9 regions by freezing index $350{\sim}450^{\circ}C{\cdot}day$, $450{\sim}550^{\circ}C{\cdot}day$, $550{\sim}650^{\circ}C{\cdot}day$. The type of road pavement has three-section such as area of cutting, boundary area of cutting and bankin, lower area of banking. As the result, the variables that influence 'Frost penetration' are Month, followed by anti-frost layer, air temperature and region.

  • The results of toxicity test using mice and rats for ethanol extract of Bracken Fern collected in Kwang Ju area were shown as follows ; Up to the dose of 10g per kg of mice administered intraperitoneally there was no lethal toxicity so that it was impossible to calculate the median lethal dose $(LD_{50})$. For the first 7 days experiment all rats administered frond extract grouping in 40mg, 400mg, and 1200mg per kg of rat as the daily oral doses did not show any characterized sign in the weight gain rate, anatomical findings, and biochemical studies. For 3 weeks following the first week the weight gain rates of all test group were reduced to $4.2{\sim}7%$ below the weight gain rate of control. In this period serum GPT, GOT, and Alkaline phosphatase value were increased significantly indicating the symptoms of Bracken Fern poisonings. The pathological findings of all test groups for 28 days showed acute and chronic intestinal lesion and liver damage with steatosis especially in 1200g/kg rat groups. In this experiment the Bracken poisonings appeared slowly in rats of 400mg/kg and 1200mg/kg for two weeks and in rats of 40mg/kg for 3 weeks, showing the symptoms of lowering of weight gain rate, subacute hepatitis, hepatic steatosis and enteritis in 28 days experiment.

  • To investigate the potential therapeutic value of a plant extract against amyloid ${\beta}-peptide-induced$ cell damage, we first screened extracts of 250 herbs, and finally selected a water extract of Spinacia oleracea for further study. This extractshowed the potential to inhibit the reactions of oxidants. We measured the angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of the extract, and assessed the ability of the extract to protect neuronal cells from chemical-induced cell death. SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells were used in this assay. The extract exerted protective effects on $H_2O_2-induced$ cell death, when $H_2O_2$ was used at 100 M, 200 M, and 500 M (protection of 87%, 73%, and 58%, respectively). When 50 M of amyloid ${\beta}-peptide$ was added to the test cells, however, the extract had no protective effect on cell death. The extract inhibited ACE activity in a dose-dependent manner, and exhibited potent protection against the deleterious effects of $H_2O_2$. In sum, these results suggest that a water extract of Spinacia oleracea has the potential to afford protection against chemical-induced neuronal cell death, and the extract may be useful in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The precise molecular mechanism of neuroprotection is under investigation.

  • This study was conducted to obtain the basic information on rice cold damage and relationship to be connected with cold tolerance. The 20 rice varieties were screened to cold tolerance under low water temperature condition. The water gradient were controlled to $17^{\circ}C$ at the inlet and $21^{\circ}C$ at outlet of screening field. In the relationship between cold water irrigation and growth of rice varieties, effect on medium maturing cultivars were higher than early maturing cultivars. In relationship of shorting of culm length and panicle exsertion, culm length and panicle exsertion showed positive correlation. Yield of cultivars and culm length and percent of fertile grain showed positive correlation. However, heading date presented negative correlation. In the early maturing cultivars, except 'Kumobyeo', all cultivars range of discoloration value (1-3) was resistant. In the medium maturing cultivars, 'Donghaebyeo' was resistant in both the seedling stage whereas 'Hwajinbyeo' was resistant only in tiller stage. Cold water irrigation reduced spikelet number per panicle and percent of filled grain. Unhulled rice yield was increased according to water temperature gradient from inlet to outlet. There was varietal differences in head rice recovery by cold water treatment.

  • There is a need to develop a data quality management algorithm in order to improve the quality of health care data. In this study, we developed a data quality control algorithms associated diseases related to diabetes in patients with hypertension. To make a data quality algorithm, we extracted hypertension patients from 2011 and 2012 discharge damage survey data. As the result of developing Data quality management algorithm, significant factors in hypertension patients with diabetes are gender, age, Glomerular disorders in diabetes mellitus, Diabetic retinopathy, Diabetic polyneuropathy, Closed [percutaneous] [needle] biopsy of kidney. Depending on the decision tree results, we defined Outlier which was probability values associated with a patient having diabetes corporal with hypertension or more than 80%, or not more than 20%, and found six groups with extreme values for diabetes accompanying hypertension patients. Thus there is a need to check the actual data contained in the Outlier(extreme value) groups to improve the quality of the data.
