In this study to identify a causal relationship between daily stress, ego-resilience and the quality of life of the elderly in long-term care facility, a causal relationship model was set up and path analysis was performed. The data collected from 380 elderly users in private long-term care facilities in Greater Seoul Metropolitan area were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 to analyze the correlation between daily stress, ego-resilience, and the quality of life of the elderly. The results of this study are as follows; First, daily stress of the elderly showed a negative (-) direct effect on the quality of life. Second, the ego-resilience of the elderly had a positive (+) direct effect on the quality of life. Third, daily stress of the elderly showed a positive (+) direct effect on ego-resilience. Fourth, daily stress of the elderly showed indirect effect and partial mediating effect on the quality of life through ego-resilience. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life of the elderly, it is necessary to develop programs and institutional support to reduce daily stress and increase ego-resilience.
The study analyzed the characteristics of the daily life and the living arrangements use of the elderly with literature review after the modernization period based on the daily life perspectives. The changes in the ideology, social system, and family system, which influenced the society and families, also affected the status of the elderly and their daily lives. Consequently, they had been facing conflicts, acceptance, and internal differentiations. The characteristics of the changes in the daily lives of the elderly in different periods were as follows. The contents were written from three different perspectives, phenomenological, symbolic interaction, and Marxist. During the modernization period, the family system and the hierarchy within a family had been reformed. However, the elderly were still considered as the symbolic leader and the respected figure of the family. From a phenomenological perspective, elderlies teach the next generations and influence the family's lives. On the other hand, from a perspective of symbolic interactions, spatial adjustment behaviors toward the largest room between the elderly and the next generation were detected. The actual authority was given to the next generation. However, the elderly were still treated as the symbolic authority. Yet, as the society became more industrialized, conflicts aroused about the support of the elderly. Those, who were neglected from the family, even spent their daily time at the elderly center or the community center. The daily lives from the Marxist perspectives suggested that modernization caused the young generations, who were well-educated and had financial powers, to have initiatives. The role of the elderly was reduced and they became negligible people, who spend meaningless daily lives. The interested the Third Ages is a new perspective on the elderly, who were neglected from the industrialized society. From a phenomenological perspective, the Third Ages are the generations that seek and demand for new housing.

Studies about architectural planning for elderly residences have been carried out to examine various factors including the unit plan, site planning, and size planning. However, no studies have been undertaken that focus on the residents' daily life patterns. This study offers the design guidelines to support the daily life patterns of the elderly through the planning of elderly housing. For this study, elderly residents in Tokyo, Yokohama etc. in Japan were interviewed and surveyed. The results indicate that the changes to the daily life patterns of the residents living in elderly housing are the reduction of household, the increase of free time, and the change of social relationships. The elderly want to utilize their free time and focus on their social relationships. However, the elderly residences that we surveyed pay no consideration to social spaces and programs for their residents except for the cafeteria. To support the daily life patterns of the elderly, elderly housing should set a high value on the location, shared spaces, and unit plans of the residences in order to consider the personal diversity of the residents. Accessibility to public transportation systems and facilities should to be considered in the initial location planning. The revitalization of the public spaces should to be considered during the architectural planning stage. Considerations of personal taste during the unit planning stage are also necessary.

The subjects of the study were 10,097 people from the Survey on the Elderly (2020), and the SPSS 25.0 program was used for data analysis. The main research results that analyzed the elderly's daily life movement performance by dividing it into daily life discomfort and movement performance difficulty are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the effects of discomfort and difficulty in performing daily activities of the elderly on life satisfaction were significant. Second, the effects of discomfort in daily life and difficulty in motion performance in the elderly on depression were found to be at a statistically significant level. Third, the effect of depression on life satisfaction was found to be statistically significant. Fourth, the partial mediating effect of depression was examined in the relationship between the daily life discomfort and difficulty in motion performance of the elderly on life satisfaction. These results clarified that daily life discomfort, difficulty in performing movements, and depression should be reduced in order to improve life satisfaction of the elderly. Through this, a discussion was presented to increase the life satisfaction of the elderly.

Second, among the elderly living alone with restricted daily functions, there was a group with very little support from the family and only 14.0% were covered by long-term care insurance. Third, the life satisfaction of the elderly with restricted functions was lower than that of the non-restricted elderly, and was affected by income, health conditions, depression, access to senior welfare centers, and communication with others. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of oral health status on daily life of elderly women. The subjects of this study were 142 elderly women aged 60 years or older who were surveyed through questionnaires, interviews, counseling, and oral examinations. The SPSS program was used for frequency analysis, descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The results of the study showed that the number affected on daily life were 1.4 in average and the oral health condition was the highest at scaling (59.4%). When the oral status was unsatisfactory, it was found to be uncomfortable in daily life. In case of oral pain, oral status and poor removal of calculus, the number and frequency in daily life were increased. In conclusion, the oral health of elderly women can improve their daily life ability and affect the quality of life. Therefore, a systematic oral care plan is needed through the expansion of oral health promotion education for elderly women and the development of continuous preventive programs.
The study aimed at investigating the living time as well as disability degree of the elderly based on daily living acting capability and living activity degree. The survey was conducted through the home-visit interview during half month at july, 1996 by the students of nursing department who were previously trained. The survey targeted the elderly aged 65 years or more living at home in rural area. The study tried to utilize Activity Inventory(AI) made for examing health and disease, disability degree, and living acting degree of the elderly. Among the AI's, there are Physical Activity of Daily Living(PADL), Instrumental Activity of Daily Living(IADL), maximum daily activity scope, and physical and mental activity level of the elderly. The daily living time is surveyed physiologic time(sleeping, eating and grooming), labor time(occupation, housekeeping and farming) and leisure time(reading, sport hobby-life). Results of the study show that social activity degree of the elderly is found to be lower than that PADL, LADL, and daily living scope. It seems that the elderly suffer from inability in daily life with lower social activity degree. But the labour time of the daily living time is the most amount time in the targeted 361 elderlys through random sampling. Therefore postponement of the disability of aging should be devised to encourage the labour activity of the elderly.
