  • The use of Jerusalem artichoke containing $\beta$-1, 2-fructose oligomer for the production of D-sorbitol and L-sorbose has been studied. The employment of inulinase(0.398%, v/v) for the hydrolysis of 40% (v/w) Jerusalem artichoke juice resulted in 36.7g/1 of glucose and 85.3g/1 of fructose at $50^{\circ}C$. These sugars were utilized as substrates for D-sorbitol and L-sorbose production. Coimmobilization of inulinase and permeabilized cells of Zymomonas mobilis in the mixture of chitin (5%, w/e) and x-carrageenan(4%, w/v) resulted in the production of 30.2g/1 of D-sorbitol by using inulin as a substrate. The process of L-sorbose production from D-sorbitol by Gluconobacter suboxydans was optimized with respect to the substrate concentration, level of dissolved oxygen and glucosic and concentration. Gluconlc acid produced by Zymomonas mobilis from glucose was found to inhibit Gluconobacter suboxtans in conversion of D-sorbitol to L-sorbose. In view of removing such inhibitory effect by gluconic acid, mutants were selected by the NTG (N-methyl-N'-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidlne) treated method. Mutants selected by NTG mutagenesis showed no inhibitory effects of gluconic acrid against L-sorbone production when its concentration increased up to 100g/1. A mutant produced 40.1g/l of L-sorbose in the medium containing 100g/l D-sorbitol and 100g/l-gluconic acid. This result is consider able when compared with L-sorbose concentration (21.7g/1) obtained from the fermentation with wild type strain of Gluconobacter suboxnians.

  • Let ${X_n}$ be conditionally i.i.d. given $g \subset \sigma(X_n, n \geq 1)$. We will prove that $g$ is degenerate if and only if ${X_n, n \geq 1}$ are i.i.d. random variable(r.v.s). As a corollary the Hewitt-Savage zero-one law is obtained using the fact that interchageable process is conditionally i.i.d. given the $\sigma$-algebra of permutable events.

  • An oriented graph is a digraph with no symmetric pairs of directed arcs and without loops. The score of a vertex $v_i$ in an oriented graph D is $a_{v_i}\;(or\;simply\;a_i)=n-1+d_{v_i}^+-d_{v_i}^-,\;where\; d_{v_i}^+\;and\;d_{v_i}^-$ are the outdegree and indegree, respectively, of $v_i$ and n is the number of vertices in D. In this paper, we give a new proof of Avery's theorem and obtain some stronger inequalities for scores in oriented graphs. We also characterize strongly transitive oriented graphs.

  • The mitotic nuclear divisions in hyphae and chromosome number in 10 strains of Fusarium oxysporum were studies with the aid of Giemsa-HCl techniques. The chromosome number of fungi was ranged from 4 to 8. Of the 10 strains (F. oxysporum f. sp. lycoperici, F. oxysporum Kangnung D2) are n=4; two (F. oxysporum Sachun3, F. oxysporum S Kohung D2) n=5; five (F. oxysporum S Kohung 3, F. oxysporum CS Hongchun D16, F. oxysporum S Bosung 5, F. oxysporum SSunchun4 and F. oxysporum S Haenam 4) n=7 and one (F. oxysporum from the Australia) are n=8. These results along with my previous papers indicate that the basic chromosome number of the F. oxysporum may be n=4 and may have been evolutionary modification within this fugal group through diploidy and aneuploidy. As additional strains are studied, the chromosome number should help to reveal steps possible phylogenetic relationship within the group as well as more clearly defining taxonomic group and variation factors.

  • Let {$X_n$, $n\;{\in}\;\mathbb{Z}_+^d$} be a field of identically distributed and negatively associated random variables with mean zero and set $S_n\;=\;{\sum}_{k{\leq}n}\;X_k$, $n\;{\in}\;\mathbb{Z}_+^d$, $d\;{\geq}\;2$. We investigate precise asymptotics for ${\sum}_n|n|^{r/p-2}P(|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\epsilon}|n|^{1/p}$ and ${\sum}_n\;\frac{(\log\;|n|)^{\delta}}{|n|}P(|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\epsilon}\;\sqrt{|n|\log|n|)}$, ($0\;{\leq}\;{\delta}\;{\leq}\;1$) as ${\epsilon}{\searrow}0$.

  • The most researches developing pattern of compression style sportswear were targeted at the live model that has muscular body build. The purpose of this study was developing a method for classifying men's lower body types in terms of muscular body build. The 3D human body scan data and body measurements of 30s of Size Korea were analyzed. The subjects (n=203) were men between the ages of 30 and 39 years. Men's muscular body build was classified with two key dimensions, thigh girth and calf girth. The subjects were divided into four groups. From each group, average subjects (n=42) whose height and weight were close to the mean value ($mean{\pm}1/2$ S.D.) were selected. 42 subjects were divided up as four groups. Group I (n=7) was thigh and calf developed body type. Group II (n=9) was thigh developed body type. Group III (n=11) was calf developed body type. Group IV (n=15) was thigh and calf undeveloped body type. Four groups had distinct different at widths (n=4), depths (n=4), and girths (n=9) dimensions. The results showed that the muscular men in their 30s could be defined by thigh and calf girths. The thigh developed muscular men had thigh girth over 60cm and the calf developed muscular men had calf girth over 38cm. From each group one representative was selected by 3D body scan figure.

  • This paper describes a study on the permeability reduction of the riverbed ground during urban railway tunnel construction. The research is mainly concentrated on the study of the grouting or injection methods among permeability reduction methods which can be adapted in the riverbed ground. The design technology of grouting methods considering the long term hydro-geological behaviour in the riverbed, was suggested. Two injection methods namely, Natural Durable Stabilizer (N.D.S) and Space-Multi Injection Grouting (S.M.I) methods, were introduced as new approach methods which could be adapted to modify the riverbed ground. In order to evaluate the performance of the improved ground by the N.D.S and S.M.I method, a series of pilot tests including the field and laboratory permeability tests, were carried out in the river crossing tunnel construction sites. The results obtained from pilot test program, were also reviewed. The results, the grouting efficiency of the S.M.I method using the non-alkalimeter silica sol is better than that of N.D.S method using cement. In addition, it is anticipated that the current research results are contributed to develop the grouting design technology.
