  • Satellite and receiver Inter-Frequency Biases (IFBs) should be estimated or calibrated by pre-defined values for generating precise navigation messages and augmentation data in satellite navigation systems or the augmentation system. In this paper, a Kalman filter is designed and implemented to estimate the ionospheric delay and satellite/receiver IFBs using a regional receiver network. First, an ionospheric model and its filter parameter is defined based on previous studies. Second, a measurement model for estimating the relative satellite/receiver IFBs without any constraints is proposed. Third, a procedure for ensuring the continuity of estimation is proposed in this paper. To verify the performance of the designed filter, six Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORSs) are selected. Finally, the stability and accuracy of satellite/receiver IFB estimation are analyzed.

  • In this paper, we propose a quadruple band antenna for GPS/WLAN/WiMAX application. The proposed antenna has quadruple band characteristics by considering the interconnection of four strip lines and DGS on the ground place. The total substrate size is 20.0 mm (W1) ⨯27.0 mm (L1), thickness (h) 1.0 mm, and the dielectric constant is 4.4, which is made of 20.0 mm (W2)⨯ 27.0 mm (L8 + L6+ L10) antenna size on the FR-4 substrate. From the fabrication and measurement results, bandwidths of 60 MHz (1.525 to 1.585 GHz) bandwidth for GPS band, 825 MHz (3.31 to 4.135 GHz) bandwidth for WiMAX band and 480 MHz (2.395 to 2.975 GHz) and 385 MHz (5.10 to 5.485 GHz) bandwidth for WLAN band were obtained on the basis of -10 dB. Also, gain and radiation pattern characteristics are measured and shown in the frequency of triple band as required.

  • In this study, we determined the precise coordinates of TBMs (Tidal Bench Marks), which used as the national reference points in coastal area of Korea, using a GPS data analysis SW for the academic and scientific applications, GAMIT/GLOBK. For accurate 3-D positioning of TBM locations, we performed the GPS point surveying according to the national surveying policy and also acquired the GPS data for 48 TBMs located in the western and southern coastal part of Korea. Considering the results of baseline analysis to each observation session obtained from GAMIT module, the baseline analysis was realized to be done precisely because the values of Normalized RMS (NRMS) were mostly less than ${\pm}0.20mm$. Before the network adjustment using GLOBK module, we evaluated the suitability of observations for each session by applying the chi-squared test (${\chi}^2$ test) to the degree of freedom in observed session. An overall distributions of ${\chi}^2$ test were less than 1.0 for all sessions, and the statistical of ${\chi}^2$ test showed the average, 0.267 with minimum and maximum value, 0.063 and 0.653, respectively. Finally, we analyzed the network adjustment for 48 TBMs to reduce the residuals of baseline analysis on each point by connecting with 42 permanent GPS stations in Korea. In the network adjustment procedure, we set up the weighted values of each permanent station to be allocated between 0.9 and 1.14, and also removed the observed points having residual exceeds 4-times of standard deviation ($4{\sigma}$).

  • In this paper, a microstrip-fed multiband monopole antenna for GPS(Global positioning system)/WiMAX(:Worldwide interoperability for microwave access)/WLAN(Wireless Local Area Networks) for applications was designed, fabricated and measured. The proposed antenna is based on a microstrip-fed structure, and composed of two rectangular double rings and L strips pair and then designed in order to get triple band characteristics. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS). The proposed antenna is made of $27.0{\times}54.0{\times}1.0mm3$ and is fabricated on the permittivity 4.4 FR-4 substrate. The experiment results shown that the proposed antenna obtained the -10 dB impedance bandwidth 300 MHz (1.325~1.625 GHz), 400 MHz (2.275~2.675 GHz), and 600 MHz (3.15~3.75 GHz) covering the GPS/WiMAX/WLAN bands. Also, the proposed antenna measured gain and radiation patterns characteristics for required operating bands.

  • This study deals with the precise GPS data processing refer to ITRF2000 through the calculation of absolute coordinates of cadastral satellite station which were established by purpose of cadastral surveying. We used the Gipsy-Oasis II software developed Jet Propulsion Laboratory to estimate daily position of GPS stations with orbital and atmospheric parameters. Especially, we carried out ionospheric delay, tropospheric delay, data existence whether or not and quality control check of observation data during pre-processing. The standard deviation of absolute coordinates was determined better than ${\pm}4mm$ from GPS precise analysis. The RMSE of difference between the result of this study and existing result by using Bernese s/w shows ${\Delta}X={\pm}0.079m$, ${\Delta}Y={\pm}0.019m$ and ${\Delta}Z={\pm}0.031m$.

  • In this paper, an efficient scheme of the adaptive notch filter is presented for rejecting the narrow bandwidth interferences(NBI) in GPS receiver. Designed is the lattice IIR double notch filter for more efficient suppression of the NBI with less computational complexity. The algorithm is of recursive prediction error form and uses a special constrained model of IIR with a minimal number of parameters. This paper chooses seven different jamming scenarios including one without jamming for evaluating the proposed filter algorithm. The simulation results to the jamming scenarios show that the proposed algorithm adjusts the double notch filter effectively for the given JSR, and provides better SNR than the conventional algorithms. Finally, it is shown that the advantages of the proposed filter algorithm can range as high as JSR 79dB in time domain processing. Also, the ADNF(adaptive double notch filter) guarantees that more than SNR 10dB of GPS receiver can be always maintained. In conclusion, there is enough evidence to believe that the proposed algorithm will perform quite well for removing interference signals.

  • There are several ways such as GPS(Global Positioning System) and INS (Inertial Navigation System) to track the location of moving vehicle. The GPS has the advantages of having non-accumulative error even if it brings about errors. In order to obtain the position information, we need to receive at least 3 satellites information. But, the weak point is that GPS is not useful when the 혠 signal is weak or it is in the incommunicable region such as tunnel. In the case of INS, the information of the position and posture of mobile with several Hz~several hundreds Hz data speed is recorded for velocity, direction. INS shows a very precise navigational performance for a short period, but it has the disadvantage of increasing velocity components because of the accumulated error during integration over time. In this paper, sensor fusion algorithm is applied to both of INS and GPS for the position information to overcome the drawbacks. The proposed system gets an accurate position information from experiment using SVD in a non-accessible GPS terrain.

  • In this study, the performance of the online GPS processing services provided by diverse institutions was compared so that domestic GPS users in geodesy and surveying can easily get precise coordinates using those services. In order to evaluate the accuracy of each online GPS processing service, we calculated coordinates of seven GPS permanent stations located in Korea and foreign countries using APPS, CSRS-PPP, AUSPOS and OPUS. And the results were compared with published coordinates by IERS and National Geographic Information Institute. In the cases of foreign stations, the mean value of the horizontal errors was 9.3 mm and the descending order of accuracies was APPS, AUSPOS, OPUS and CSRS-PPP. In the cases of Korean stations, the mean value of the horizontal errors was 37.6 mm, although the order of accuracy was similar to the foreign cases; AUSPOS, APPS, OPUS and CSRS-PPP. Also, the average value of 3-D errors in Korean cases was about 3 cm larger than that of foreign cases and a bias of 3 cm was observed in the north direction.

  • Recently, augmented reality has been proved immensely useful on a day to day basis when tied with location-based technology. In this paper, we present a new method for displaying augmented reality contents on mobile devices. We add 3D models on the view of the camera and use location-based services, motion sensors to calculate the transformation of models. Instead of remaining at a fixed position on camera view while moving around a 3D model, the model rotates on display in the opposite direction that the user is walking. We also design client as a ubiquitous client to reduce constraints on disk space and memory capacity on mobile devices. Implementation results show effective use in creating GPS-based 3D view augmented reality contents for Smart Mobile Devices.
