  • In order to examine the effect of growth regulators on flower bud formation and anthesis, various growth regulators were applied during the initiation and growthstages of flower bud development in Camellia. The inhibitor CCC increased flowerbud formation. But gibberellin had a strong suppressing effect of flower budformation while it stimulated elongatien of shoots. On the other hand, gibberellinpromoted the growth of flower buds and hastened anthesis, while other growthregulators had no effect.

  • To decrease the bolting rate of Angelica gigas, The growth inhibitors such as MH, Pp333 (paclobutrazol) and CCC(chloroniequat or Cycocel) were treated twice with the interval of 20 days atthe forming stage of flower bud.Growth and bolting rate in plot treated inhibitors were retarded and decreased, and the yield ofroots was also decreased compared with non - treatment. The treatments of MH and Pp333 amongthree inhibitors showed the better effects in decreasing the bolting than that of CCC, but they did notshow the significant in the yield and contents of decursin among each of them.In order to improve the decreasing effects by chemicals, selection of suitable reagents, concentrationand number of treatment should be investigated.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine usability as potted flowers and garden plants by controlled plant height using growth retardants. There was no significant difference on the dwarfing effect according to the degree of exposure the sun, but growth was well under full exposure to the sun. The plant height was decreased by application of Cycocel (CCC), Bonzi (paclobutrzol), Ancymidol, and Uniconazole compared to the control group, and treatment of Bonzi $5mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ was most dwarfing effect for both full sun exposure or 70% controlled shading condition. No consistent different was found in stem diameter, leaf color change, the content of chlorophyll and anthocyanin when the concentration of plant growth retardants was altered. These factors were affected only by light intensity. In comparison to the results of the control group, leaf length, leaf width, plant width and petiole length were all reduced by the application of growth retardants.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of growth retardants such as CCC and diniconazole in grafted cactus for control shipping product of grafted cactus, which had high degree of dependence upon export. The PGRs were 50, 100, 150 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ CCC and diniconazole, respectively. Treatment of diniconazole and CCC not reduced diameter on Gymnocalycium mihanovichii var. friedrichii but number of tubercle reduced significantly according to the increase of diniconazole treatment, control was 7.2 tubercles, but with 100 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ diniconazole was 6.4 tubercles. Treatment of diniconazole and CCC reduced significantly diameter and tubercle number on Chamaecereus silvestrii f. variegata at higher concentration. Diameter and height reduced significantly the treatment of CCC with 3.3 and 13.4 mm of 150 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, respectively. Dry weight of root, rootstock and scion decreased at higher concentrations of CCC and diniconazole in Chamaecereus silvestrii f. variegata. The most effective method of plant growth retardants for controlling of shipping time was the 150 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ CCC treatment.

  • The experimental growth regulators Hoe78784 and PP-333 significantly reduced lodging in all rices. However, they did not significantly affect the crop vegetative characteristics and yield components, except by decreasing plant height when both growth regulators were applied at booting stage. Grain yield of IR21820-154-3-2-2-3 increased due to reduced lodging when Hoe78784 and PP-333 were applied at booting. These growth regulators increased the thickness and diameter of the culm. Applying CCC did not affect lodging in all test varieties. CCC-treated varieties and the control showed lower number of vascular bundles and culm thickness and diameter of the third and fourth internodes. Hoe78784 and PP-333 significantly reduced internode length from the second to the third internode in short-statured varieties. In tall varieties. reduction extended up to the fourth internode. Culm N content of the varieties did not significantly differ among treatments, except in IR8. Culm P content also did not differ significantly among treatments. although K and Si content was the highest than control when Hoe78784 was applied.
