  • Cyclic voltammetry has been applied in the basic studies for the treatment and recovery of heavy metal component contained in wastewater by electrochemical reduction. The electrochemical behaviors of zinc ion for zinc metal electrode and carbon elec-trode were characterized by voltammograms and it was showed that zinc ions were reduced to metallic form below -0.76 V vs SHE. The change in the features of crystalline form of metallic zinc upon oxidation and reduction reaction was observed by X-ray diffraction method and the Am analysis verified that zinc ions were reduced to metal on copper plate. The results of this study were regarded to be important and meaningful in the treatment of heavy metal containing wastewater and, as a result, in the obtainment of metallic product by electrochemical method.

  • The transport phenomena of electron and ion around the electrode have been analyzed, herein the computational program to simulate the electrochemical signal of cyclic voltammetry has been implemented. For the dominant mass-transfer system, the governing equation and its boundary conditions are confined to the semi-infinite diffusion model and the reversible reaction at the electrode. In order to obtain the numerical solutions of cyclic voltammetry, MATLAB was used for the explicit finite difference method. Experimental results from the cyclic voltammetry of electrochemical system(10 mM $K_3Fe(CN)_6$ and 0.1M KCl) upon the ITO glass substrate were compared with the numerical solutions. Present program explains the experimental results fairly well, where they approached the simulated ones closely with deceasing the scan rate. Furthermore, the effects of electrode area, electrochemical reaction constants and transfering coefficients in the cyclic voltammetry were discussed quantitatively.

  • Electrochemical behavior of surface active Osmium bipyridine complex adsorbed in a monomolecular layer on tin oxide electrodes by the Langmuir-Blodgett method was studied. Theoretical equation of cyclic voltammetry of electrode reactions for redox species adsorbed as monolayer form was discussed by reversible and quasi-reversible waves. The film was transferred onto the $SnO_2$ electrode surface and then amounts of charge on the electrode were measured in the technique of cyclic voltammetry. The electron transfer mediation of these monolayer with $Fe^{2+}$, TEMPOL and others were studied. And the cyclic voltammetry were simulated by taking into account the interaction parameters. From these values, we found it possible to fit almost all measured cyclic voltammograms with these parameters. The recent works and directions using LB method were introduced with various applicable field.

  • The electrochemical investigation of N,N-bis (2,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)-3,4,9,10 perylenebis (dicarboximide) laser dye have been carried out using cyclic voltammetry and convolution - deconvolution voltammetry combined with digital simulation technique at a platinum electrode in 0.1 mol/L tetrabutyl ammonium perchlorate (TBAP) in solvent 1,2 dichloroethane ($CH_2Cl-CH_2Cl$). The investigated dye was reduced via consumption of two sequential electrons to form radical anion and dianion (EE mechanism). In switching the potential to positive scan, the compound was oxidized by loss of two electrons, which were followed by a fast aggregation process ($EC_1EC_2$ mechanism). The electrode reaction pathway and the chemical and electrochemical parameters of the investigated compound were determined using cyclic voltammetry and convolutive voltammetry. The extracted electrochemical parameters were verified and confirmed via digital simulation method.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the characteristics of cyclic voltammetry of a self-assembled mono-layer(SAM) electrode which was modified by 3-Mercaptopropionic acid (3-MPA) on gold nanoparticle(AuNP)-deposited electrode. Also, the transport phenomena of electrons and ions around the electrode have been analyzed. The governing equation and its boundary conditions by adopting the semi-infinite diffusion model were formulated for the mass-transfer dominant system. In order to obtain the numerical solutions of cyclic voltammetry(CV) on SAM electrodes, MATLAB program was implemented by applying the explicit finite difference method. Resulting CV program for the SAM-modified electrode was verified in good agreements with the experimental CV results for the 3-MPA on AuNP electrode.

  • In this paper, the current-voltage (I-V) curves, such as linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV), were employed to evaluate the effect of electrolyte concentration on the electrochemical reaction trend. From the I-V curve, the electrochemical states of active, passive, transient and trans-passive could be characterized. And then, we investigated that how this chemical affect the process of voltage-induced material removal in electrochemical mechanical polishing (ECMP) of Copper. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy EDS) analyses were used to observe the surface profile. Finally, we monitored the oxidation and reduction process of the Cu surface by the repetition of anodic and cathodic potential from cyclic voltammetry (CV) method in acid- and alkali-based electrolyte. From these analyses, it was important to understand the electrochemical mechanisms of the ECMP technology.

  • In this paper, a microelectrode away DNA chip was fabricated on glass slide using photolithography technology. Several probe DNAs consisting of mercaptohexyl moiety at their 5' end were immobilized on the gold electrodes by DNA arrayer utilizing the affinity between gold and sulfu. Then target DNAs were hybridized and reacted with Hoechst 33258, which is a DNA minor groove binder and electrochemically active dye. Cyclic voltammetry in 5mA ferricyanide/ferrocyanide solution at 100 mV/s confirmed the immobilization of probe DNA on the gold electrodes. Linear sweep voltammetry or cyclic voltammetry showed a difference between target DNA and control DNA in the anodic peak current values. It was derived from Hoechst 33258 concentrated at the electrode surface through association with formed hybrid. It suggested that this DNA chip could recognize the sequence specific genes. It suggested that multichannel electrochemical DNA microarray is useful to develop a portable device for clinical gene diagnostic system.

  • We fabricated the monolayers onto QCM by self-assembly using viologen, which has been widely used as electron acceptor. A gold electrode of the QCM was cleaned by piranha solution and prepared the ethanol-acetonitrile(1:1) solution with 2 m mol/l viololgen compounding of pure hi gas. We determined the time dependence to resonant frequency shift during self-assembly process and the electrochemical behavior of the self-assembled viologen monolayers by cyclic voltammetry. With increasing scan rate, the redox peak current of the viologen increased linearly. This was signified that the redox reaction was reversible. The EQCM measurements revealed the anions transfer during redox reactions, respectively. From the EQCM data, the well-defined shape peaks were nearly equal charges by cyclic voltammetry.

  • To determine for the hybridization, we have investigated by UV spectroscopic method. This complex behavior as nonelectrolytes in polar aprotic solution with molar conductivities. The technoques of pulse and cyclic voltammetry have been applied to the determination of $(E_{1/2})_{2}$-$(E_{1/2})_{1}$ for two-step electrochemical charge transfers. A simple amplitude has been derived for the dependence of the differential-pulse response on $(E_{1/2})_{1}$ and $(E_{1/2})_{2}$. The use of the peak-to-peak separation in cyclic voltammetry has also been evaluated. Comparison with a differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry methods shows agreement of comproportionation constant$(K_{c})$ within 50%.

  • The titled dye of DBPI gives amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) with maximum at 580 nm upon pumping by nitrogen laser (${\lambda}_{ex}\;=\;337.1\;nm$). The ground state absorption cross section (${\sigma}_A$) and emission cross section (${\sigma}_E$) as well as effective emission cross section(${\sigma}^*_E$) have been determined. The electronic absorption spectra of DBPI were measured in ethanol and tetrahydrofuran at room and low temperature. DBPI displays molecular aggregation in water. The photochemical reactivity of DBPI was also studied in carbon tetrachloride upon irradiation with 525 nm light. The electrochemical investigation of DBPI dye has been carried out using cyclic voltammetry and convolution deconvolution voltammetry combined with digital simulation technique at a platinum electrode in 0.1 mol/L tetrabutyl ammonium perchlorate (TBAP) in two different solvents acetonitrile ($CH_3CN$) and dimethylformamide (DMF). The species were reduced via consumption of two sequential electrons to form radical anion and dianion (EE mechanism). In switching the potential to positive direction, the compound was oxidized by loss of two sequential electrons, which were followed by a fast dimerization and/or aggregation process i.e $EC_{dim1}EC_{dim2}$ mechanism. The electrode reaction pathway and the chemical and electrochemical parameters of the investigated compound were determined using cyclic and convolutive voltammetry. The extracted electrochemical parameters were verified and confirmed via digital simulation method.
