연질재료의 마이크로 구형렌즈금형 가공특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Manufacturing Characteristics for Micro Spherical Lens Mold of Soft Materials)

  • Micro spherical lens mold processing method based on mechanical one completes a spherical shape by setting a diamond tool of hundreds $\mu$m radius on spins with high speed and then using Z-axis vertical feeding motion like the fabrication of micro drilling. In this method, we can see unprocessed parts shaped like cylinder and cone and check increasing chatter marks and burrs by setting errors of the central axis of rotation on the edge of the tool. That is why this method doesn't suit for the optical lens mold. In this paper presents unprocessed parts are disappeared and chatter marks and burrs are decreased from centre of the lens after using Run-out measuring and setting system on run-out occurred from setting tool. Also the fabrication characteristics of 6:4 Brass, A1601, PMMA are compared and analyzed, establishing the optimum machining condition on each material.

자유곡면의 정밀가공을 위한 표면거칠기의 정량적 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study Quantitative Analysis of Surface Roughness for Precision Machining of Sculptured Surface)

  • A quantitative analysis of a surface roughness for a precision machining of a sculptured surface in milling process is treated under superposition theory in this paper. The geometrical surface rouhgness is calculated as a function of feed per tooth, path interval, radii of tool and cutting edge, and radii of curvatures of workiece. Through machining experiments in a 3-axis machining center, we confirmed the adequacy of the adequacy of the analysis. While cutter mark is neglegible in ball endmilling, it is significant in flat endmilling. When feed per tooth is very small, flat endmilling gives superior finish to ball endmilling. In flat endmilling, cutting condition and cutter path should be strategically chosen to balance the cutter mark height and cusp height.

  • Recently, the analysis of microcutting with submicrometer depth of cut is tried to get a more high quality surface product, but to get a valuable result another method instead of conventional finite element method must be considered because finite element method is impossible for a very small focused region and mesh size. As the alternative method, Molecular Dynamics or Statics is suggested and accepted in the field of microcutting, indentation and crack propagation. In this paper using Molecular Dynamics simulation, the phenomena of microcutting with subnanometer chip thickness is studied and the cutting mechanism for tool edge configuration is evaluated. As the result of simulation the atomistic chip formation is achieved.

  • There is an immense need to obtain nanometric surface finish on optical glass owing to the advantage of improved performance of the components. But owing to brittleness and hardness, optical glass is one of the materials that is difficult to ultra-precision turning. According to the hypothesis of ductile mode machining, regardless of their hardness and brittleness, will undergo a transition from brittle to ductile machining region below a critical undeformed chip thickness. Below this threshold, it is suggested that the energy required for plastic formation. Thus, plastic deformation is the predominant mechanism of material removal in machining these materials in this mode. An experimental study is conducted diamond cutting for machining BK7 glass. The investigation presents the feasibility of achieving nanometric surface and the understanding the mechanism of cutting glass, proving the cutting edge radius effect.

  • Machining technique for optical crystals with single point diamond turning tool is reported in this paper. The main factors influencing the machined surface quality are studied and regularities of machining process are drawn. Optical crystals have been known to more and more important applications in the field of modern optics. Ge is more brittle material of poor machinability. The traditional machining method is polishing which has many shortcomings such as low production efficiency, poor ability to be automatically controlled and edge effect of the workpiece. The purpose of our research is to find the optimum machining conditions for ductile cutting of Ge and apply the SPDTM technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of Ge. As a result, the surface roughness is the best when cutting speed is 180m/min, feed rate is 2mm/min, depth of cut is $0.5{\mu}m$ and nose radius of tool is 0.8mm.
