This study introduced food waste into re-vegetation base materials for surface loss recovery of carry-away highway cut slope. The object of this study is to derive the mixing ratio of food waste by conducting a test installation, monitoring, analysis and evaluation for recovery of carry-away highway cut slope. The following items were investigated and analyzed each experimental zone to draw mixing ratio of re-vegetation base materials and food waste : the physical and chemical properties of the vegetation base materials, soil-hardness, soil-humidity, left out and the collapsed point, established number of trees, species richness of grass species and tree species, coverage, pest status, and invasion of disturbance species. The re-vegetation method was evaluated by each experiment zone which has different mixing ratio. As a result, experiment zone A was rated 45 points out of 60 rating points as the best re-vegetation method. However, this study result has been derived from one construction and short-term monitoring. In order to derive the suitable and dependable mixing ratio, conducting an objective re-vegetation method evaluation and long-term experiment and monitoring is required.

This study introduced wood waste into revegetation base materials for recovery of highway cut slope. The object of this study is to derive the mixing ratio of wood waste, kaoline and silica by conducting a test installation, monitoring, analysis and evaluation. The following items were investigated and analyzed each experimental zone to deduce the mixing ratio of wood waste, kaoline and silica on slope revegetation base materials: the physical and chemical properties of the vegetation base materials, soil-hardness, soil-humidity, collapse and eroded spots, established number of trees, existing species of grass and tree species, vegetation coverage ratio, pest status, and invasion of disturbance species. The revegetation method was evaluated in each experiment zone which had different mixing ratios. As a result, experiment zone C scored 47 points out of 60 as the best revegetation method. However, this result has been derived from just one construction and short-term monitoring. In order to derive the suitable and dependable mixing ratio, conducting an objective revegetation method evaluation and long-term experimenting and monitoring is required.

The changes of tissue structure in timothy and alfalfa during ensiling process with silage additives; lactic acid bacteria, cellulase and formic acid, were observed with a video microscope. Stem samples were obtained from the second internode, and cut to divide into 2 pieces. One piece was for observation of ensiled material and the other was for silage. The latter piece was put into a nylon cloth bag, and ensiled with grass for 50 days in a small experimental silo Lignification of the plant tissues was checked by acid phloroglucinol. Natural silage fermentation resulted in some degradation of less lignified parenchyma in both plant species. However, lignified sclerenchyma and vascular bundles remained intact. The cellulase enhanced the degradation of parenchyma tissue, while the formic acid suppressed the degradation. The effect of lactobacillus was small. The percentage of remained cross sectional area of stem and the loss of NDF and ADF by silage fermentation confirmed the observation. High negative correlations were obtained between the remained area and loss of fibrous components during silage fermentation in both plants, and between the loss of fibrous components and in vitro dry matter digestibility in timothy but not in alfalfa.

The more N fertilizer, the more grass proportion (58 8, 240 kg N/ha) and the less white clover (Trifolium repens) (6 %, 240 kg N) under grazing utilization. The proportion of white clover was maintained about 27 % at 60 kg N/ha/yr and weed proportion was reached 33 %. Under the condition of differentiated N rates, the proportion of white clover was ranged from 10 to 36 % at 20 kg N/ha/cut which was allocated after every grazing and it probably dependent on differentiated N rates rather than total amounts of N applied annually. 53-74 % of total dry matter yield were concentrated at 1st and 2nd growth under grazing system and there were no great differences in dry matter yield at 3rd, 4th, and 5th growth in comparison with the variations of N rates. There was very significant relationship between the proportions of white clover and the amounts of N uptaken by herbage upto 180 kg N/ha. About 138 kg N/ha were uptaken by herbage without N fertilizer but only with white clover (31 %) as a substitute of N. In the amounts of crude fiber and crude protein by differentiation of N fertilizer, there were no any great variations and liveweightgain during grazing periods was reached 1583 kg liveweightlha.

This study was conducted to find out the hydroseeding timing of several herbaceous plants for the slope revegetation works. Four native plants and five introduced grasses were used for this experiment and were seeded on the cut slopes by hands in April, May, June, September and October. To identify the best seeding timing, germination percentage, ground covering rate, number of tillers and plant heights were investigated. There were wide differences in germination and ground covering rates of native plants are lower than those of cool-season foreign grasses and they show different germination rates according to seeding timing. Among them, Arundinella hirta var. ciliata shows the most apparent germinatin pattern according to seeding timing. 2. Seeding timing : Native plants tend to germinate well in May and June and cool-season foreign grasses in May and September. But Native plants show extremely low germination rates in autumn, so it is necessary to adjust the seeding rates when seeding in autumn. When seeding in May, it will be possible to use native plants-seed-mixture without using introduced foreign grasses. In sum, the best seeding timing of cool-season foreign grasses are May and September, and warm-season foreign grass is May and June. The best seeding timing of native plants seem to be in May and June.
The formation of slopes is unavoidable under the special circumstance of Korea where $7%$ of the whole area are composed of mountains and civil engineering projects such as road and site developments are increasing with industrial development and horizontal expansions of urban area. Stability of slopes is one of quite important issues under special meteorological characteristics that over two-thirds of annual average rainfall is concentrated in summer season and the localized torrential downpour is getting more frequent recently. As a result of these circumstances, partial slope failures by debris flow of the high water content soils occur frequently in cut soil slopes. In this case of debris flow slope failure, slope declination method is selected fur the stable recovery because it is impossible to recover entirely by existing recovery methods. Seeding or special grass planting methods are followed separately without exception. The method by which entire recover with bigger stability ratio would be possible and grass planting work would be done simultaneously is developed. For debris flow failure slopes, this study secured the safety of slopes by preventing the inflow of rainwater and scour using geosynthetics-reinforced embankment, and created nature-friendly slopes by planting trees on the slopes.

This experiment was carried out during 1983-1984 to determine an effective method for the introduction of pasture species on nonarable hill country without cultivation. In this experiment, 1.8 and 2.8kg a.i. $ha^{-1}$ rates of glyphosate and a 0.7kg a.i.$ha^{-1}$ rate of paraquat were applied, and also 30, 45 and 60 days intervals between spraying and sowing were used. Establishment of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata) was not affected by the application of herbicides, but that of ladino clover (Trifolium repens) was significantly affected by glyphosate and paraquat. It was found that glyphosate and paraquat have no apparent soil residual activity or pre-emergence effect when sprayed 30 to 60 days before sowing. Dry matter yield of pasture species on the herbicide treatments was significantly higher than that on the unsprayed treatments. The highest yield was obtained from the 1.8kg a.i.$ha^{-1}$ rate of glyphosate 45 days before sowing. Botanical analysis at the final cut showed that the shrubs and native grass of original site were reduced to 5% by glyphosate application, but those on the unsprayed control were still 51%. Crude protein content and in vitro dry matter digestibility of herbage on the herbicide treatments were higher than those on the unsprayed treatments. Results indicated that glyphosate was more effective to control resident shrubs and grass than paraquat, and good establishment and higher yield of surface-sown pasture species can be obtained by spraying 1.8 to 2.8kg a.i.$ha^{-1}$ of glyphosate, 30 to 45 days before sowing.
Organic forage production system is one of the most important aspects in organic livestock production. Animals in the organic farming system are also essential for manure to be used for organic forage production. Both organic forage and animals are essential to maintain the cycle of organic agriculture system. In this paper we introduce the organic forage production system in Korea. Summer and winter crops are getting popular in Korea because of their high forage yield and cultivation in double cropping systems. Common cropping system for forage production in Korea is the double cropping system with legume and grass mixture. Forage sorghum and sudangrass are the most popular ones of annual summer forage corps because of their high production with low cost in the double cropping systems. In the mixture of forage crops, inter cropping is more suitable in the corn and sorghum cropping system because of high lodging resistance and forage yield, and low weed population. Forage sorghum and sudangrass are difficult to preserve as direct-cut silage due to the fact that its high moisture content causes excessive fermentation during ensiling. Corn grain addition to sorghum silage could be recommended as the most effective treatment for increasing quality and reducing production cost. It is recommended that corn grain could be added up to 10% of total amount of silage. And agriculture by-products also can be added at the time of ensiling to minimize losses of effluent and have the additional advantage of increasing quality. Agriculture by-products as silage supplements increased DM content and quality, and decreased the production cost of sorghum silage. Field pre-wilting treatment of forage crops also increased DM content and quality of the silage. Wilting sorghum${\times}$sudangrass hybrid before ensiling was the effective method for reducing effluent and increasing pH and forage quality more than direct cut silage. Optimum prewilting period of sudangrass silage was 1 or 2 days. In organic forage, the most important factor is the enhancement of organic forage sufficiency in relation to the environmental-friendly and organic livestock. Consequently, there are many possibilities for animal production and organic forage production in Korea. No forages no cattle concept should be emphasized in organic farming system.

This study is aimed to redesign established parks and to propose a series of devices protecting them from vandalism. To solve the problems, we ascertained the damaged areas of the park greens. The trace analysis was performed to grasp the transverse inside the parks of Jeonju and Iksan in Collabuldo. Then, we presented the basic plan for minimizing park damage and for remodeling the system of movement. The results of the study are summarized as follows: it is identified that the transverse phenomenon is considerably wide-spread in majority of parks, and has no relationship to the park area or the green area. It is considered that the $\ulcorner$Condition rating class$\lrcorner$ of grass damage, which is grade 6, is extraordinarily high and the damage is accumulated considerably. Also, the damage part of other grade is discovered equally, and when unattended, the acceleration of damage is positive. A damage width a 0.5∼1.5m makes up the greater part of 79.6%. It also constitutes most of a rectilinear form. The difference in the height between the original point and destination point is below 0.7m, which is above 70%. It is identified that the interrelationship between the damage continuation length and plan distance is relatively high by the simple regression: analysis and by Pearson' correlation analysis. In spite of the normal damage continuation length is 20m, the frequency degree is downward with extreme point at 10m. Accordingly, it is assumed that park users have physical and psychological pressure when they cross the lawn field. Damage types are classified as the Simple cut cross type, the Behavioral facilitates type, Access advantage type and the Strolling type through type classification. It is considered that this classification is effective when identifying short pass type on lawn field according to the damage length and intensity.

This study was conducted to evaluate the potential of Festulolium braunii(Festuca pratensis Huds. $\times$ Loliurn mulrijZorum Lam.)as forge sources. The experiment was arranged in a split plot design with four replications from Feb. 1995. to Jan. 1996 at Hohenheim university. Main plots consisted of three forage species, Festulolirtrn braunii(Paulita), Lolium multiJomm(Lemtla), and Secale cereale(Halo) and subplots consisted of three maturity, boot, heading, and anthesis. The growth characteristics, DM yields, nutritive value, N and energy balance were observed. The heading date of Festulolium braunii was about two days earlier than that of Loliunz mrtltiflorum, farthermore Fesrulolium braunii retained higher leaf weight ratio(LWR) than other species. Festulolium brarrnii failed to show any significant differences in grass length, number of tillers, LAI, CGR, and DM accumulation when harvested at the same stage of maturity as compare with Loliurn mulriiflorutn or Setale cerede, bur the content of CP, OMD, and mineral elements and NEL value of Festulolium braunii compare to othes were slightly increased(P<0.05), while the content of NDF, ADF, and lignin decreased(P<0.05). The yield of CP was greater for Festulolium braunii than for Lolium multfimm and yields of DOM and NEL per unit area(ha) for Festulolium braunii were greater than for other species(P<0.05). The equivalent or higher DM production and nutritive value are obtained when Festulolium braunii are cut during the period from boot to anthesis stages, therefor DM intake, preference, and N and energy balance were also higher for Festulolirtm braunii compare to for other species. It could be suggested that Lolium multrfirum would be a more suitable substitute to Festuloliron braunii without decreasing forage production and quality, but the substitutive effect of Secale cereale would be difficult because of the maor differences in growth type and period compare to Fesrulolium braunii. From above the results of this experiment it appears that Festulolium braunii have a potential to provide forage sources. but funher research is needed to ascertain their potential under the climate of Korea.
