  • Because the mobile services is composed of heterogeneous attributes, it is hard to find out customer's potential needs and more difficult to analyze customer's satisfaction factors toward mobile services. Therefore, this study approached this issue from a new viewpoint and applied Kano Model in analyzing customer's satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors toward mobile services. By using Kano Model, it tried to find out how differently customers perceive the mobile services. Firstly, we found out perception gaps of Korean and American customers toward mobile services. While Korean customers perceived most mobile services as indifferent service attributes, American customers perceived them as attractive service attributes. We could find main reasons of these perception differences from different national backgrounds and adoption rates of smart phones between two countries. Secondly, based on TRI scores, we categorized subjects into four groups and named as Pioneers, Explorers, Skeptics and Laggards. And then we examined the perception differences to mobile services among four groups. We found that there were no significant perception differences among four groups.

  • This study examines carving decoration which makes visual beauty and luxury mood upon serving foods to customers in the food service industry. 413 cooks working for hotels and luxury restaurants were investigated for how they need carving decoration. First, general importance upon serving foods to customers and upon carving decoration was examined; and it was considered if such importance shows statistically meaningful difference by cooks' general characteristics(e.g., gender, academic career, age, work experience). Also, this study explores the necessity of carving decoration in their situation. As a result, cooks regard carving decoration as very important, and its necessity was as high as cooking experience. In addition, necessity was high in buffet, Japanese foods and Chinese foods. A cook can provide visual pleasure to customers and heighten the artistry of foods with carving and decorating skills, so opening a relative course of study seems to be required in cooking-related fields and institutes in order to foster manpower with learned carving and decorating skills.

  • Fast food restaurants are growing in numbers in Korea since they were introduced abot a decade ago. To develop an effective marketing strategy for fast foods, it is important to assess consumer's acceptability and identify demorgraphic, environmental, and managerial factors which influence consumer's perception on the fast food restaurants. A total of 595 customers were surveyed at thirty hamburger chain restaurants in Seoul from November 7 to 15, 1988. Analyses of the collected data revealed that adolescents, females, and the people with high income were the major customers and visited more than once or twice a week; frequent visitors rated meals more favorably in terms of the quality, service and cleanliness, and they also rated meals of foreign brand more favorable than those of domestic one; the female group perceived the change in their dietary habits more than any other groups; cleanliness, convenience, atmosphere, courtesy, and the taste of foods were significant factors in purchasing fast foods; and customers were most satisfied with convenience, while least satisfied with the price and the quantity of foods. From these findings, it is sggested that the manager of the fast food restaurant must consider the consumer's perception of fast foods in terms of pros and cons in order to operate her/his restaurant successfully.

Better understanding of customer's perception of service quality in the banking industry and the drivers of such perceptions will be a sound basis for continuous improvement in the quality of service offered to customers, customer satisfaction and customer retention in the industry. An earlier study by the same authors (Ibrahim and Bokkasam, 2016) revealed that the six SERVQUAL determinants are significantly related to and explain about 84% of overall customer satisfaction. It was also observed that the female customers perceived higher level of positive perception towards SERVQUAL determinants. The present study carries out a micro-analysis of the influence of gender on the constituents of the service quality and customer satisfaction for all the six dimensions of the SERVQUAL: Access, Communication, Competence, Tangibility, Empathy and Reliability, in Saudi banking sector. The study also analyses gender-wise levels of satisfactions with regard to individual components constituting various factors of the constituents of SERVQUAL. It was observed that the male customers have significantly low levels of satisfactions with regard to promptness in solving conflicting issues and comfort during waiting time in the bank.
