Purpose - In the development of new products, suppliers involvement and developing products jointly can be said to be strategic activities that utilize the lack of knowledge from external organizations. In this new product development, supplier involvement has been proven to have a positive impact on new product development performance for a long time by previous research. However, sufficient academic research has not been conducted on the influence of supplier involvement in various product strategies or sales strategies that buyers make in order to secure a competitive advantage in the market. This study argues that product strategy and sales strategy used by buyers in the development of new products will control the effect of supplier involvement on new product development performance in order to compensate the lack of these academic aspects. Research design, data, and methodology - Specifically, we selected the modularization strategy of the product as the product strategy, which is considered as an important strategy in the new product development through the preceding research, and the mass customer satisfaction strategy was chosen as the sales strategy. In order to achieve these research objectives, regression analysis was conducted using data from manufacturing productivity panel collected jointly by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Industry and the Korea Productivity Center. Results - As a result, supplier involvement and new product development performances (development cost efficiency, customer satisfaction) were positively related. The product modularity strategy proved to have an interactive effect on the relationship between supplier involvement and new product development performances (development cost efficiency, customer satisfaction). However, it has not been confirmed that there is a statistically significant interaction effect between supplier involvement and new product development performances. Conclusions - Supplier involvement has positive relationships with NPD performance. In addition, product modularity strategies have interaction effects with supplier involvement and affect new product development performance (development cost efficiency and customer satisfaction). The results of this study are of academic significance in the case of lack of empirical studies on the effect of supplier participation on the effect of buyer 's strategy when a supplier participates and develops new products jointly.
Recent market environment shows a new relationship between customer and company, which you could not observe in the past. Customers now are used to various benefits through the participation of marketing process. It is no wonder that customers visit company web site, gather a lot of information about the product on the website, and express their satisfaction and opinions about the product. Furthermore, these activities are being made ubiquitously. Despite the fact there are a lot of customer participation in the Internet environment, Customers Participation has been given little attention in the academic literature. This study explores the effect of the properties of Internet infra on customers participation. The implications of this study are as follows. First, by reviewing the literature on the performance and process of customers participation in the marketing activities, this study identifies why customers did not participate in the marketing activities under non-Internet environment. Second, this study identifies the properties of Internet infra influencing customers informative participation. Third, we suggest some managerial strategies for enhancing the performance of a company by customer participation. Consequently, we suggest managerial implications for completely different marketing strategies in response to customers participation in the marketing activities under the digital environment.

This research Investigates the determinants of customer Intention to participate In Internet auction. Based on technology acceptance and trust related studies, our research proposes a theoretical model consisting of factors such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, institution based trust, beliefs on sellers, trusting beliefs, and participation Intention. For examining the relationships implied by the research model, a field study using a survey methodology for data collection was conducted. The data were analyzed using AMOS based on the structural equation modeling, a second-generation multivariate technique, which has gained distinct advantages over other technique. After some model modification according to model generating strategy approach, this study shows that trusting beliefs have significant effects on the participating intention in Internet auction site. In conclusion, Implications are discussed along with limitations and further research direction.
In accordance with an active development, we now enjoy web 2.0 generation centering bilateral participation through the web 1.0 environment mainly providing the offering information and take a step web 3.0 understanding information by itself. The same time of digital technic development, consumption market arrived at market3.0 generation, also passed by market 1.0 and went via market 2.0 based on bilateral participation and understanding. This change have the marketing implement index changed as well. Nowadays, 7C is generalized of making up sensibility, emotion, communication, relationship, customization and interactive built as a major strategy from the day of 3p focused on customer environment, service process and 4P focused on physical quality of product. Consumers are now no longer satisfied with using a single channel to shop and then desire a smooth and consistent purchasing experience across channels. By integrating different channels and services, an omni-channel strategy allows consumers to choose their preferred channel to complete their shopping tasks. Therefore, large retailers in China have recently been transforming into omni-channel retail formats to secure their competitive advantage. To better implement this strategy and optimize its effectiveness, it is important to understand how consumers respond to the quality of channel integration. Based on social exchange theory (SET), the main purposes of this study are to explore the impact of channel integration quality on consumer engagement in the Chinese omni-channel retailing environment and to further examine whether there is a moderating effect of consumer empowerment on this relationship. To test this research model, we collected data from 330 respondents by conducting an online questionnaire in China. The results indicated that the two dimensions of channel integration (breadth of channel-service choice and transparency of channel-service configuration) positively affected two dimensions of customer engagement (conscious attention and enthusiastic participation), respectively. The findings also show that consumer empowerment only positively moderates the relationship between breadth of channel service choice and conscious attention, whereas it negatively moderates the relationship between transparency of channel-service configuration and conscious attention/enthusiastic participation. Given these results, this study deepens our understanding of the impact of the quality of channel integration on customer engagement in the context of omni-channel retailing in China and sheds light on how retailers can attract consumers with different levels of empowerment.

To satisfy the needs of customers, firms must supply customers with products of high quality. This requires firms establish a quality management system which pursues customer satisfaction in a business strategy. Quality management must be connected with the strategic chain and the firm can obtain excellent performances only when top management leadership which places people over profit is exercised. The purpose of this study is to analyse whether elements of strategic quality management has any effect on quality and business performances. A questionnaire was used for the survey. In this study, it is showed that elements of strategic quality management(strategy, leadership, customer satisfaction, quality improvement activity, technological innovation, shop floor management, employee participation) are positively correlated with the quality and business performances. This tells firms have to carry out the strategic quality management effectively based on the strategic chain and emphasizing leadership.
The elevated standard of living and increased interest in health and well-being have caused customers to expect a role. Consumers are more and more interested in food service merchandise development. The purpose of this paper is to perform a discriminant analysis of merchandise development policies based on customer participation strategies. Statistical techniques employed included the reliability analysis and the discriminant analysis. The current thesis is based on the 350-questionnaire-survey conducted from July 1 to July 31, 2008 at five food service companies in Seoul and Gwangju. The data collected for this study was analyzed with frequency analysis, reliability analysis, validation analysis, factor analysis, and discriminant analysis using the SPSS 12.0 package program. The results of the test of the hypotheses can be summarized as follows: the analysis shows that there is significant difference between the active groups and the passive groups in all the merchandise development related factors, market directivity, and customer satisfaction directivity. Thus, food service management needs to apply customer participation strategies aggressively.
Purpose - A business ecosystem refers to mutually dependent systems interconnected by a loose foundation of various ecosystem members such as customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders. The ecosystem-based strategy attempts to achieve competitive advantage for firms by enriching a business ecosystem or building a sustainable business ecosystem through the collaboration and co-evolution of its members. A sustainable business ecosystem is a source of competitiveness for firms anda manageable resource for gaining a competitive advantage. Customers represent the core membership of the business ecosystem and play a pivotal role in building a sustainable business ecosystem. This study examines the effects of customer participation on economic and social value in the business ecosystem and suggests a course of action for building a sustainable business ecosystem. Research design, data, and methodology - Two business cases of South Korea are selected from two different business types: business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) firms. Business ecosystems for B2B and B2C firms reflect contrasting characteristics. Data was collected from in-depth interviews with four representatives of four firms. Results - The study suggested seven propositions for the relationships between customer participation and a sustainable business ecosystem through multiple case studies based on in-depth interviews. The results reveal the following four strategic actions for building sustainable business ecosystems based on the suggested propositions: alignment, systemization, socialization, and co-evolution. Alignment refers to achieving a harmonic balance or virtuous circle among the firm's mission, investment, and value creation. Systemization refers to building and implementing management and infrastructure systems rooted in the corporate culture. Socialization of customers in the business ecosystem reinforces the harmony or virtuous cycle. Finally, co-evolution is associated with the relationship between firms and customers as buyer firms in a restricted business ecosystem. Conclusions - This study considers multiple cases for the execution of a sustainable business ecosystem in collaboration with customers and suggests seven propositions and four strategic actions. The results are based on qualitative data from interviews with business associates from two firms in an open business ecosystem and two firms in a restricted business ecosystem, both in South Korea. Our research results regarding two contrasting business ecosystems shed light on business issues and policy making in Asian business environments, which are in the transition stages from a traditional conglomerate-driven to an inclusive growth-driven economy. The business ecosystem itself should be considered a manageable resource for firms' competitive positions in the market. A customer is a member of the business ecosystem and should thus be viewed not only as a purchasing entity and an object of relationship management but also as a co-creator of value. Therefore, firms should collaborate with customers to build sustainable business ecosystems. For this, firms must create social value, which cannot be created by customers alone, within the business ecosystem. Then, customers participate in a business ecosystem and build it to be favorable to them. Implications for academics and practitioners were suggested.
