This paper analyses the harmonic pollution to power grids caused by several high-power rectifiers, summarizes the requirements for rectifiers in suppressing grid-side current harmonics and optimizes a new-type of current source PWM rectifier with a hybrid switch. The rectifier with a hybrid switch boasts significant current characteristics and cost advantages in the high-power area. To further enhance the working frequency of the current source rectifier with a hybrid switch for suppressing grid-side harmonics and reducing the inductance size, this paper proposes an optimal control strategy based on space vector. It also verifies that the optimal control strategy based on space vector can reduce the total harmonic distortion of the grid-side current of the rectifier with a hybrid switch via circuit simulation and experimental results.
This paper proposes the model predictive control with space vector modulation (SVM) method for current control of voltage-source inverter. Unlike the conventional method using a limited number of voltage vectors by switching states, the proposed method can consider various voltage vectors to identify the optimized voltage vector. The various voltage vectors are obtained by subdividing existing voltage vectors. The optimized voltage vector that minimizes the cost function is selected and applied to the inverter by using the SVM. The various voltage vectors and SVM reduce current ripples in the output AC side of the inverter compared with the conventional method. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed method are verified through simulation and experiment with a three-phase two-level voltage-source grid-connected inverter.
A speed control system of the induction motor drives by the load commutated current source inverter is studied in this paper. In general, since the rotating equipments such as pumps, fans and blowers do not require necessarily the accurate speed control performance, a voltage control and a speed sensorless vector control systems are mainly used for this application. In this paper, a new control scheme which has better performance than the voltage control system and simpler control structures than the vector control system is presented. This new proposed method controls the angle of the current vector using the relationship between the inverter output voltage and current, as well as uses the simple method to compensate the effect of the output capacitors.
In this paper, control schemes are developed for a propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) in electrical train. A robust controller for PWM converter is proposed. The converter controller consists of a PI controller for DC output voltage and a current controller using error-space approach for maintaining the sinusoidal current waveform and unity power factor. This proposed method is based on characteristic ratio assignment(CRA) method which has the advantage to design the optimal gain to meet the referenced response and overshoot within the limit range. Inverter system is controlled by vector control and slip frequency control. At low speed region, vector control scheme is applied to control instantaneous torque and slip frequency control is performed under overmodulation region and one pulse mode. Because output voltage of converter contains harmonics ripple at twice input ac line frequency, control scheme is developed to reduce the pulsating torque current. The performance of propulsion system will be verified by simulation and prototype experimental results.
This paper presents a vector control implementation for SPMSM(Surface-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using dSPACE 1104 system and MATLAB/SIMULINK. SPMSM can be treated as a DC motor provided that currents of flux and torque component are controlled independently using vector control. Therefore various control algorithms for conventional DC motor control can be adopted to SPMSM. The system is designed to improve set-point tracking capability, fast response, and accuracy. In This paper, d-q equivalent modeling of PMSM is derived based on vector control theory. The PI controller is used for speed control and state feedback PI current control method is used for current control. For the implementation of high performance vector control system, dSPACE 1104 system is used. Simulations and experiments were carried out to examine validity of the proposed vector control implementation.
It is proposed that a novel method which can compensate the time delay occurs in overall system, when voltage and current is measured, owing to LPF, hysteresis control inverter and microprocessor program computation time. The Proposed scheme estimates the time delay using the difference between Q-axis stator current command and time delayed Q-axis stator current in synchronous reference frame, and compensates the time delay of voltage and current using angular displacement of DQ transformation. The proposed scheme compensates accurately the time delay occurs in overall system. Therefore performance of vector control system is improved highly and it is verified by simulation and experiment.
This paper proposes a novel circulating current control method for an MMC-HVDC system based on Vector PI control. The method can suppress second-order harmonics of the circulating currents under balanced and unbalanced grid conditions. The proposed method is robust to grid frequency variation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through frequency response and time domain simulation.
This paper proposes a new overmodulation strategy to give a better voltage utilization by tracking voltage vector along hexagon sides. This strategy enables the inverter to control both magnitude and angle of current. Therefore, the vector control using this strategy can lead to better output torque dynamics compared to the conventional slip frequency control with six-step voltage, which is widely used in the traction drive. In this strategy, the d-axis output voltage of a current controller to control the flux is conserved and the q-axis output voltage to control the torque is controlled to place the voltage vector on the hexagon boundary In case of overmodulation. The limited q-axis voltage is used for anti-windup of q-axis current controller. This paper also presents a new field weakening scheme which incorporate the proposed overmodulation strategy. In this scheme, the flux level is selected by both required current limit and the available maximum voltage along hexagon sides. The validity of the proposed overall scheme is confirmed by the computer simulations for a typical traction drive with a 210[㎾] induction motor.
The study of the vector control of the induction machine without speed sensor is going on and there are the adaptive performance method to use the flux observer. This study is to make the vector control without the speed sensor based on the flux oriented reference vector control theory. This paper proposes the new speed follow-up method to deduce the current value in the current sensor and the 2 order flux observer based on the observer theory and examine the possibility to realize the flux oriented vector control system using the simulation in this proposed method of this study.
This paper describes the two control techniques to perform the sensorless vector control of a PMSM by injecting the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal. The first technique is the estimation algorithm of the initial rotor position. A PMSM possesses the saliency which produces the ellipse of the stator current when the high frequency voltage is injected into the motor terminal. The major axis angle of the current ellipse gives the rotor position information at a standstill. The second control technique is a sensorless control algorithm that injects the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal in order to estimate the rotor position and speed. The rotor position and speed for sensorless vector control is calculated by appropriate signal processing to extract the position information from the stator current at low speeds or standstill. The proposed sensorless algorithm using the double-band hysteresis controller exhibits excellent reference tracking and increased robustness. Experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed control schemes. Speed, position estimation and vector control were carried out on the floating point processor TMS320VC33.
