Effects of Electroplating Current Density and Duty Cycle on Nanocrystal Size and Film Hardness

  • Pulse electroplating was studied to form nanocrystal structure effectively by changing plating current density and duty cycle. When both of plating current density and duty cycle were decreased from $100mA/cm^2$ and 70% to $50mA/cm^2$ and 30%, the P content in the Ni matrix was increased almost up to the composition of $Ni_3P$ compound and the grain growth after annealing was retarded as well. The as-plated hardness values ranging from 660 to 753 HV are mainly based on the formation of nanocrystal structure. On the other hand, the post-anneal hardness values ranging from 898 to 1045 HV, which are comparable to the hardness of hard Cr, are coming from how competition worked between the precipitation of $Ni_3P$ and the grain coarsening. According to the ANOVA and regression analysis, the plating current density showed more strong effect on nanocrystal size and film hardness than the duty cycle.

  • This paper proposes a new converter that can reduce the harmonics like conventional 12-pulse dual thyrister converters with the input transformers. Both the bridges are controlled with the shifted firing angle and connected through current sharing reactors. Using the center tapped reactor, the DC link current is controlled with the different two values in order to make the input current waveform 12 pulses.

  • The method for the current equalization of the rectifier diodes in LLC resonant converter is proposed. The method decreases the current difference between the rectifier diodes using the auxiliary winding of the transformer and asymmetrical pulse width modulation (APWM). The analytical reason of the current unbalance is investigated and the operation principle of the proposed method and APWM control loop are explained. The performance of the proposed method was verified on a 480-W, 400-V/24-V dc/dc converter.

Time-Delay Effects on DC Characteristics of Peak Current Controlled Power LED Drivers

  • New discrete time domain models for the peak current controlled (PCC) power LED drivers in continuous conduction mode include for the first time the effects of time delay in the pulse-width-modulator. Realistic amounts of time delay are found to have significant effects on the average output LED current and on the critical inductor value at the boundary between two conduction modes. Especially, the time delay can provide an accurate LED current for the PCC buck converter with a wide input voltage. The models can also predict the critical inductor values at the mode boundary as functions of the input voltage and the time delay.

  • Voltage controlled current regulated PWM(pulse width modulation) of VSI (voltage source inverter) is proposed. Adopting one degree of freedom, the voltage, the current controller shows much more improvement than conventional ones not using this method. The voltage controller or this proposal needs load's parameters, torque value, rotational speed. This voltage controller is located at converter part which links AC source and DC bus. With this proposed method, duty ratio of the inverter's switching is nearly unity for all speed and torque range. Hence, this method gets many advantages such as reducing current ripple, thermal loss, and noises and improving control performances. Theoretical approach to this voltage-current controller is performed, and the results are presented.

  • The characteristics of the current waveforms and 3$\Phi$ power waveforms of the variable speed 3$\Phi$ AC motor system driven by the single-pulse PWM investigated in this paper. The system is composed of a digital bridge inverter and low pass LC filter. It is confirmed that current waveforms and 3$\Phi$ power waveforms can be improved by utilizing the high order low pass LC filter than that of lower order through computer simulation. Also, we propose the low pass LC filter revised from the conventional LC filter.

Analysis, Design and Implementation of an Interleaved DC/DC Converter with Series-Connected Transformers

  • An interleaved DC/DC converter with series-connected transformers is presented to implement the features of zero voltage switching (ZVS), load current sharing and ripple current reduction. The proposed converter includes two half-bridge converter cells connected in series to reduce the voltage stress of the switches at one-half of the input voltage. The output sides of the two converter cells with interleaved pulse-width modulation are connected in parallel to reduce the ripple current at the output capacitor and to achieve load current sharing. Therefore, the size of the output chokes and the capacitor can be reduced. The output capacitances of the MOSFETs and the resonant inductances are resonant at the transition instant to achieve ZVS turn-on. In addition, the switching losses on the power switches are reduced. Finally, experiments on a laboratory prototype (24V/40A) are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed converter.

  • In this paper PU control scheme is presented. The proposed scheme has following features. The one is oft-starting method which is used for preventing to flow large current in motor phase winding when motor starts. The ther is the selection of the level of the over current. The first feature is implemented by increasing the PWM duty lowly, the second feature is implemented by limiting the magnitude of the phase current level by which the over heat f motor by copper losses and magnetic saturation decreases. By the analysis using FEM considering load condition, the peed of mode transition from PW to single pulse control is selected and confirmed by simulation that there is no ver current occurs during the mode transition. For the verification of proposed scheme, the simulation using MATLAB Simulink with considering non-linearity of inductance profile from FEM analysis is performed and the experiment with SRM drive system which has the DSP controller and single Phase SRM are peformed.

  • The power source of inverter welder stable power of low voltage and high current. Because if shouldn't be, it is caused to spark between the parent metal and the peak. So that, we designed to be base on high frequency transformer and reactor of DC part. Then, we optimized control of PWM, current rising slant, voltage, current, pulse current and inverter out-put voltage. Also we designed PCB for EMI and noises.

Stepping motor controlling apparatus

  • Stepping motor normally operates without feedback and may loss the synchronization. This problem can be prevented by using positional feedback. This paper introduces one method for closed loop control of stepping motor and a method for combining full-step control and micro-step control. This combination controlling apparatus can perform position control with high accuracy in a high speed, so that it will not suffer from vibration (or hunting) problem when stopping motor. Controlling apparatus contains a position counter block for detecting rotor position of stepping motor, a driving block for supplying current to windings of stepping motor, a control block for comparing output signal of position counter block with command position (desired position) and outputting current command signal based on deviation between current position and command position of rotor. To output current command signal, the control block refers to a sine wave data table. This table contains value of duty cycle of Pulse Width Modulation signal. As the second object of this paper, the process of building this data table is also presented.
