Generally, PM BLDC drive system is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference and encoder installed in case of the 3 phase motor. The Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor. So the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the stator winding current. Instead of using three Hall-ICs and encoder, this paper uses only two Hall-ICs for the permanent magnet rotor position and for the speed feedback signals, and uses a micro controller of 16-bit type(80C196KC) with the 3 phase PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed. Two Hall-IC Hc and $H_B$ are placed on the endplate at 120 degree phase difference. With these elements, we estimate information of the other phase in sequence through a rotating rotor.

This paper presents a application of vector control strategy to 1.2MVA traction drive for railway vehicle. The vector control required the control of the phase and amplitude of output voltage vector. But in case of traction system for railway vehicle, the one-pulse mode is used at high speed region in order to utilize the link voltage fully. So it is impossible to control the flux and torque axis current instantaneously and independently in the region. So this paper proposes a mixed control algorithm, where the vector control strategy at low speed region and slip-frequency control strategy at high speed region is used. And precise switching technique between the two different control strategy is proposed. The proposed strategy is verified by experimental results with a 1.2MVA traction drive system with four 210kW induction motors.

In this paper, a step down converter for LED backlight of mobile application has been proposed. The converter which is operated with 4 MHz high switching frequency is capable of reducing mounting area of passive devices consists of a power stage and a control block. Circuit elements of the power stage are inductor, output capacitor, MOS transistors and feedback resistors. The control block consists of pulse width modulator, error amplifier and oscillator etc. Proposed step down converter has been designed and verified using a $0.35{\mu}m$ 1-poly 4-metal BCD process technology. Simulation results show that the output voltage is 1.8 V in 3.7 V input voltage, output current 100 mA which is larger than 25 ~ 50 mA in conventional 500 KHz driven converter when the duty ratio is 0.4.
This paper presents a new overall system for state-of-available-power (SoAP) prediction for a lithium-ion battery pack. The essential part of this method is based on an adaptive network architecture which utilizes both fuzzy model (FIS) and artificial neural network (ANN) into the framework of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). While battery aging proceeds, the system is capable of delivering accurate power prediction not only for room temperature, but also at lower temperatures at which power prediction is most challenging. Due to design property of ANN, the network parameters are adapted on-line to the current battery states (state-of-charge (SoC), state-of-health (SoH), temperature). SoC is required as an input parameter to SoAP module and high accuracy is crucial for a reliable on-line adaptation. Therefore, a reasonable way to determine the battery state variables is proposed applying a combination of several partly different algorithms. Among other SoC boundary estimation methods, robust extended Kalman filter (REKF) for recalibration of amp hour counters was implemented. ANFIS then achieves the SoAP estimation by means of time forward voltage prognosis (TFVP) before a power pulse occurs. The trade-off between computational cost of batch-learning and accuracy during on-line adaptation was optimized resulting in a real-time system with TFVP absolute error less than 1%. The verification was performed on a software-in-the-loop test bench setup using a 53 Ah lithium-ion cell.
Background The current indications of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) have expanded to include young patients with serious cardiac risk factors, but CIED placement has the disadvantage of involving unsightly scarring and bulging of the chest wall. A collaborative team of cardiologists and plastic surgeons developed a technique for the subpectoral placement of CIEDs in young female patients via a transaxillary approach. Methods From July 2012 to December 2015, subpectoral CIED placement via an axillary incision was performed in 10 young female patients, with a mean age of 25.9 years and mean body mass index of $20.1kg/m^2$. In the supine position, with the patient's shoulder abducted, an approximately 5-cm linear incision was made along one of the deepest axillary creases. The submuscular plane was identified at the lateral border of the pectoralis major, and the dissection continued over the clavipectoral fascia until the subpectoral pocket could securely receive a pulse generator. Slight upward dissection also exposed an entrance to the subclavian vein, allowing the cardiology team to gain access to the vein. One patient with dilated cardiomyopathy underwent augmentation mammoplasty and CIED insertion simultaneously. Results One case of late-onset device infection occurred. All patients were highly satisfied with the results and reported that they would recommend the procedure to others. Conclusions With superior aesthetic outcomes compared to conventional methods, the subpectoral placement of CIEDs via a transaxillary approach is an effective, single-incision method to hide operative scarring and minimize bulging of the device, and is particularly beneficial for young female or lean patients.

The purpose of the current study was comparative analysis of autonomic and electrocortical responses to passive and active touch of the tektites with different subjective emotional preference. Perspective goal of the project is development of a template for classification of tactile stimuli according to subjective comfort and associated physiological manifestations. The study was carried out on 36 female college students. Physiological signals were acquired by Grass and B10PAC 100 systems with AcqKnowledge III software. Frontal, parietal and occipital EEG (relative power spectrum /percents/ of EEG bands - delta, theta, slow and fast alpha, low and fast beta), and autonomic variables, namely heart rate (HR), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), pulse transit time (PTT), respiration rate (RSP) and skin conductance parameters (SCL, amplitude, rise time and number of SCRs) were analyzed for rest baseline and stimulation conditions. Analysis of the overall pattern of reaction indicated that autonomic response to tactile stimulation was manifested in a form of moderate HR acceleration, RSP increase, RSA decrease (lowered vagal tone), decreased n and increased electrodermal activity (increased SCL, several SCRs) that reflects general sympathetic activation. Parietal EEG effects (on contra-lateral side to stimulated hand) were featured by short-term alpha-blocking, slightly reduced theta and significantly increased delta and enhanced fast beta activity with few variations across stimuli. The main finding of the study was that most and least preferred textures exhibited significant differences in autonomic (HR, RSP, PTT, SCR, and at less extent in RSA and SCL) and electrocortical responses (delta, slow and fast alpha, fast beta relative power). These differences were recorded both in passive and active stimulation modes, thus demonstrating reproducibility of distinction between most and least emotionally preferred tactile stimuli, suggesting influence of psychological factors, such as emotional property of stimulus, on physiological outcome. Nevertheless, development of sufficiently sensitive .and reliable template for classification of emotional responses to tactile stimulation based on physiological response pattern may require more extensive empirical database.

It is known that a pulse of electrons of high kinetic energy (1-3 eV) in metals can be generated with the deposition of external energy to the surface such as in the absorption of light or in exothermic chemical processes. These energetic electrons are not in thermal equilibrium with the metal atoms and are called "hot electrons" The concept of photon energy conversion to hot electron flow was suggested by Eric McFarland and Tang who directly measured the photocurrent on gold thin film of metal-semiconductor ($TiO_2$) Schottky diodes [1]. In order to utilize this scheme, we have fabricated metal-semiconductor Schottky diodes that are made of Pt or Au as a metallic layer, Si or $TiO_2$ as a semiconducting substrate. The Pt/$TiO_2$ and Pt/Si Schottky diodes are made by PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) for $SiO_2$, magnetron sputtering process for $TiO_2$, e-beam evaporation for metallic layers. Metal shadow mask is made for device alignment in device fabrication process. We measured photocurrent on Pt/n-Si diodes under AM1.5G. The incident photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) at different wavelengths was measured on the diodes. We also show that the steady-state flow of hot electrons generated from photon absorption can be directly probed with $Pt/TiO_2$ Schottky diodes [2]. We will discuss possible approaches to improve the efficiency of photon energy conversion.

Mg and its alloys have been of great interest because of their low density of 1.7, 30% lighter than Al, but their wide applications have been limited because of their poor resistances against corrosion and/or abrasion. Corrosion resistance of Mg alloys can be improved by formation of anodic films using anodic oxidation method in aqueous electrolytes. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is one of anodic oxidation methods by which hard anodic films can be formed as a result of micro-arc generation under high electric field. PEO method utilize not only substrate elements but also chemical components in electrolytes to form anodic films on Mg alloys. PEO films formed on AM50 magnesium alloy in an acidic fluozirconate electrolyte were observed to consist of mainly $ZrO_2$ and $MgF_2$. Liu et al reported that PEO coating on AM30 Mg alloy consists of $MgF_2$-rich outer porous layer and an MgO-rich dense inner layer. PEO films prepared on ACM522 Mg die-casting alloy in an aqueous phosphate solution were also reported to be composed of monoclinic $Mg_3(PO_4)_2$. $CeO_2$-incorporated PEO coatings were also reported to be formed on AZ31 Mg alloys in $CeO_2$ particle-containing $Na_2SiO_3$-based electrolytes. Magnesium tin hydroxide ($MgSn(OH)_6$) was also produced on AZ91D alloy by PEO process in stannate-containing electrolyte. Effects of $OH^-$, $F^-$, $PO{_4}^{3-}$ and $SiO{_3}^{2-}$ ions and alloying elements of Al and Sn on the formation of PEO films on pure Mg and Mg alloys and their protective properties against corrosion have been investigated in this work. $PO{_4}^{3-}$, $F^-$ and $SiO{_3}^{2-}$ ions were observed to contribute to the formation of PEO films but $OH^-$ ions were found to break down the surface films under high electric field. The effect of pulse current on the formation of PEO films will be also reported.

The SC-FDMA(single carrier-frequency division multiple access) was recently adopted as the uplink multiple access scheme from 3GPP LTE(3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Tenn Evolution) due to its low PAPR (Peak-to-averaged power ratio). The bandwidth of IFDMA(interleaved FDMA), one of the sub-carrier mapping methods of SC-FDMA, gets narrower as the roll-off factor of RRC(root raised cosine) filter decreases from 1 to 0, whereas its PAPR can increase significantly. In practice, to increase the power efficiency of an amplifier, signals with high PAPR undergo the process of clipping. Clipping of signals may cause regeneration of high-frequency components as well as distortion of signals. The current paper deals with the effect of clipping on the spectrum and BER of IFDMA signals with RRC filters.

The chemical behavior of trivalent lanthanide (Pr(III) and Yb(III)) and 2, 2, 6, 6-tetramethyl-3, 5-heptanedione(dipivaloylmethane) complexes was investigated by the use of direct current, differential pulse polarography and cyclic voltammetry. In this study, it was founded that the reduction of trivalent lanthanide complexes was observed by one electron transfer process at Epc = -0. 13 V and -0.80 V of Pr(III), and -0.02 V of Yb(III) vs. Ag-AgCl electrode. Also, it was founded that the treatment of DP and CV to the case of a first-order chemical equilibrium reaction preceding a reversible and irreversible one electron transfer reaction, (a >0. 5) the socalled ErCr electrode process. The equilibrium constant (lnK) obtained, of various solvents, these constant were founded to be increases with decreasing dielectric constant of the solvents. Plots of lnK for these reaction against ln(l/D) for the solvents was fairly straight lines, and the behavior of the heavier lanthanides was decreased equilibrium constant with increasing atomic number.
