Current Status and Future Plans for Surface Current Observation by HF Radar in the Southern Jeju (제주 남부 HF Radar 표층해류 관측 현황 및 향후계획)

  • The southern strait of Jeju is a divergence point of the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC), and it is the starting point of the thermohaline circulation in the waters of the Korean Peninsula, affecting the size and frequency of marine disasters such as typhoons and tsunamis, and has a very important oceanographic impact, such as becoming a source of harmful organisms and radioactively contaminated water. Therefore, for an immediate response to these maritime disasters, real-time ocean observation is required. However, compared to other straits, in the case of southern Jeju, such wide area marine observations are insufficient. Therefore, in this study, surface current field of the southern strait of Jeju was calculated using High-Frequency radar (HF radar). the large surface current field is calculated, and post-processing and data improvement are carried out through APM (Antenna Pattern Measurement) and FOL (First Order Line), and comparative analysis is conducted using actual data. As a result, the correlation shows improvement of 0.4~0.7 and RMSE of about 1~19 cm/s. These high-frequency radar observation results will help solve domestic issues such as response to typhoons, verification of numerical models, utilization of wide area wave data, and ocean search and rescue in the future through the establishment of an open data network.

  • The conventional pattern-methods for discrimination of acupoint, meridian line which is the basic object of diagnosis and medical treatment in oriental medicine is discriminated the conduction point by the stimulation in body skin with DC. But, it is not sufficient to truth in discrimination ratio, coincident ratio, body effect, reproductivity. Therefore, this paper is extracting the optimal parameter of frequency and waveform in order to improve the conventional pattern, and proposing the SPAC(Single Power Alternative Current) stimulus pattern applying that. Also, this algorithm proposes to be able to discriminate with low pressure of the electrode by displaying in the level meter both the absolution and relation value of the skin current. It is able to decrease pain and body effect by electrode pressure and discriminate acupoint regardless of skin current in difficult discrimination spot. It is compared the performance of system applying the extracted optimal parameter and algorithm, and it is confirmed that there is difference in discrimination parameter of acupoint reacted to the individual and the meridian. It is compared that discrimination, coincident ratio of the traditional acupoints as the acupoint stimulation pattern. It is confirmed truth of optimal parameter and discrimination algorithm.   • This paper constructed the 3D real-time numerical model for which predicts the water quality and movement characteristics of the inner bay, which consider the characteristics of the wind-driven current and density current in estuaries which generated by the river discharge from the Hyeong-san river and oceanic water of the Eastern sea. The constructed numerical model reappeared successfully the seawater circulation current of Yeong-il Bay, which used the input conditions of the real-time tidal current, river discharge and weather conditions at March of 2001 year. Also to observe the wind-driven current and density current in estuaries effected to the seawater circulation pattern of the inner bay, we investigated the analyzation for the each impact factors and the relationship with the water quality of Yeong-il bay

  • A model experiment of purse seine by the circulating water tank was carried out on the changes of net shape and the tension of purseline under operation in two layer current. In the circular tank, the two layer current was made by cutting off the current of upper layer and producing the bottom current by the equipment shown in Fig. 1. The model experiment of purse sein was made on a reduced scale 1 :400, and the experiment was carried out according to the Tauti's model law. When the bottom current of O. 5 knot flows to lower part of three-eighths of net, following results are derived. The depth of sinkerline reached only about 80% of that of no current set. The horizontal shift of sinker line caused by the bottom current is maximized in tight set. The enclosed area by the floatIine immediately after the completion of set net is 61. 5% in tight set, 50. 0 % in loose set and 54. 1 % in lateral set of those in the case of no current. In the first half period of pursing, the tension of the purseline is enhenced by the bottom current and the pattern of increasing is irregular in the tension curves.

Anatomy of a flare-producing current layer dynamically formed in a coronal magnetic structure

  • No matter how intense magnetic flux it contains, a coronal magnetic structure has little free magnetic energy when a composing magnetic field is close to a potential field, or current-free field where no volume electric current flows. What kind of electric current system is developed is therefore a key to evaluating the activity of a coronal magnetic structure. Since the corona is a highly conductive medium, a coronal electric current tends to survive without being dissipated, so the free magnetic energy provided by a coronal electric current is normally hard to release in the corona. This work aims at clarifying how a coronal electric current system is structurally developed into a system responsible for producing a flare. Toward this end, we perform diffusive MHD simulations for the emergence of a magnetic flux tube with different twist applied to it, and go through the process of structuring a coronal electric current in a twisted flux tube emerging to form a coronal magnetic structure. Interestingly, when a strongly twisted flux tube emerges, there spontaneously forms a structure inside the flux tube, where a coronal electric current changes flow pattern from field-aligned dominant to cross-field dominant. We demonstrate that this structure plays a key role in releasing free magnetic energy via rapid dissipation of a coronal electric current, thereby producing a flare.

  • This paper presents an improved fuzzy logic-based adaptive PWM technique. A fuzzy logic- based adaptive PWM technique determines the optimal output voltage vector which takes into account both direction of back-emf and direction of current error vector. This technique has a simple structure and a good level of stability, but it has disadvantages. The longer sampling period, the larger current error. Because there is no considerations of the current error magnitude of each phases. The proposed method improves the control performance by selecting the optimum switching pattern in which the magnitudes of current errors are considered introducing space vector concept. Simulation results using Matlab/Simulink show that the proposed control method reduces current error keeping the merit of previous one.

  • Most of the user has been used linear load and non-linear load. The former is usually inductive load which is needed power factor compensation, the latter is power conversion system device. Actually two kinds of load is used together in the customer application. Generally capacitor is used for power-factor compensation of inductive load and reduction harmonics of non linear load with reactor. Non-linear load generates harmonic current for its energy conversion process. If harmonic current pass along the low impedance side of distribution system, the magnification of voltage and current is appeared by the series and parallel resonance. As a result, condenser has received a bitter electrical stress by the harmonic component. In this paper, we analyzed that how resonance is changed by the 5-th harmonic current pattern and proposed an alternative plan for non-magnification.

  • Variable iron loss as function of current phase angle of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) was calculated through Curve Fitting Method(CFM). Also, a magnetic flux density distribution of iron core according to current phase angle was analyzed, and an iron loss calculation was performed including harmonic distortion. The experiment was performed by production of non-magnetizing model for the separation of mechanical loss, and the iron loss was calculated by the measurement of input using power analyzer and output power using dynamometer. Some error was generated between experimental results and calculation value, but an iron loss diminution according to current phase angle followed a same pattern. So, errors were generated by measurement, vibration, noise, harmonic distortion loss, etc.

  • Potential vorticity is useful to illustrate mechanism and distribution pattern of current circulation the upper layer in the East Sea is divided into three part following like surface layer, Tsushima Warm Current(TWC) layer. Potential vorticity shows well the meandering of the TWC and polar front and circulation cell ill the northern part of polar front.

  • In a motor drive, the current rating is directly related to the rating of a switching device, and the parallel switching operation for a cost reduction is the alternatives because it has the smaller current rating through current division. There are many investigations for the parallel switching operations to equaling the current division. However it remains many problems for practical usage. This paper proposes a new parallel operation which uses a parallel phase winding to remove the traditional effect of switching device such as saturation voltage according to the division of current. The proposed strategy is verified by theoretical and experimental results.
