  • The Polarization and Depolarization Current (PDC) measurement is an efficient and effective diagnostic technique based on time domain measurement, for evaluating the high voltage insulation condition. This paper presents a review and comparison results from several published papers on the application of the PDC method to finding the conductivity and moisture content of various types of insulators. For solid insulation, the study was focused on cable insulation, electric machine stator insulation, and paper insulator in transformer insulation with different conditions. For liquid insulation, the review and comparison was done on biodegradable and mineral transformer oils, with fresh oil condition, and aged condition. The results from previous researchers tests were complied, analyzed and discussed, to evaluate the application of the PDC method to monitor the conductivity and moisture of HV equipment insulation systems. From the review results, the PDC technique successfully gives an indication of the conductivity and moisture level of high voltage insulation.

  • This study was carried out to estimate drying schedule of Fagaceae four species grown in Kangwon-Do by oven-drying at $100^{\circ}C$ which aimed to elucidate the characteristics such as current moisture content, drying process, initial check, collapse and internal check during drying following each board thickness (1.5cm, 2.5cm, 3.5cm, 4.5cm). The results were as follows; Current moisture content of each board showed a rapid drying curve with the high initial moisture content of board. With the high initial moisture content, the incease of board thickness and the slowness of changing rate of moisture content, species took long to do drying. Also, the initial conditions of drying had to be mild condition with the increase of board thickness.

  • In this study, the moisture content, charge discharge current, electrostatic capacity and dielectric loss tangent are measured for the specimen of bisphenol type epoxy resin which is mixed with squared amorphous silica filler and dipped in hot water of $50^{\circ}C$ for 169 days. The results of this study are listed below. The longer of deposition day, the charge and discharge current was increased. It is considered that the reason is because there was water attack through the squared silica surface. The longer of deposition day, the absorption rate of all specimens was increased. It found that the absorption rate reached saturated state after 100 days. The higher frequency and the longer of deposition day, the $tan{\delta}$ was decreased. Also, It found that the $tan{\delta}$ and electrostatic capacity of the specimen which is mixed with squared filler are greater.

  • Soil moisture content is generally accepted as an important factor to understand the process of crop growth and is the basis of earth system models for analysis and prediction of the crop condition. To continuously monitor soil moisture changes at kilometer scale, it is demanded to create high resolution data from the current, several tens of kilometers. In this paper we described a downscaling method for Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) Soil Moisture Content (SMC) from 10 km to 30 m resolution using a soil texture and field measurements that have a high correlation with the SMC. As a result, the soil moisture variations of both data (before and after downscaling) were identical, and the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of SMC exhibited the low values. Also, time series analyses showed that three kinds of SMC data (field measurement, original AMSR2, and downscaled AMSR2) had very similar temporal variations. Our method can be applied to downscaling of other soil variables and can contribute to monitoring small-scale changes of soil moisture by providing high resolution data.

  • A completion of settling process takes a lot of time for dredged materials of high moisture content, such as contaminated sludge, in landfill site. In general, additives (e.g. flocculants) are used for reducing settling time of such colloidal material, which results in the increase of sludge volume, and hence much space is required in landfill site. This study is to suggest alternative method in order to enhance the settling process of cohesive clayey soils. A number of gravitational sedimentation tests as well as electrokinetic experiments were conducted to investigate the variation of initial moisture content on the settling behaviour of clay slurry. Surface settlement, electric current and local voltage gradient were monitored during the experiment, and moisture content and soil pH were measured after the experiment. From the results, the application of electrokinetics was found to be effective in volume reduction (i.e. increase of settling velocity and decrease of final moisture content) by comparison with gravitational settling process.

  • The unit-water content of concrete is one of the important factors in determining the quality of concrete and is directly related to the durability of the construction structure, and the current method of measuring the unit-water content of concrete is applied by the Air Meta Act and the Electrostatic Capacity Act. However, there are complex and time-consuming problems with measurement methods. Therefore, high frequency moisture sensor was used for quick and high measurement, and unit-water content of mortar was evaluated through machine running and deep running based on measurement big data.

Appearance of checks for Quercus variabilis were extremely severe and estimated schedule was $T_5-C_2$. The shrinkage rate of grain direction was in the order of tangential direction > radial direction > longitudial direction and the shrinkage rate of oven-drying at $100^{\circ}C$ was bigger than normal shrinkage rate.

  • Changing patterns and the possibility of climate change in the area of Cheiudo island, the southernmost Island in Korea, were analyzed using daily temperature and Precipitation data observed at the Cheiu Regional Meteorological Office from May 1923 to December 1998. A hydrologic simulation model "BROOK" was used to simulate and analyze the dynamics of daily soil moisture content and soil moisture deficit by applying the daily weather data. During the period, significantly increasing pattern was observed in temperature data of both annual and monthly basis, while no significantly changing pattern was observed in precipitation data. During the last 76 years. mean annual temperature was observed to have risen about 1.4$^{\circ}C$, which may show the Possibility of the initiation of climate change on the island whose validity should be tested in future studies after long-term studies on temperature. Based on the simulation, due to increased temperature, significant increase was predicted in evapotranspiration. while no significant decrease was detected in simulated soil moisture content during the period. Changing pattern of annual soil moisture content was markedly different from those of precipitation. In some dominant trees, negative effects of the drought of the late season for the previous year were shown to be statistically significant to radial growth of the tree for the current year. As annual variation of radial growth of trees is mainly affected by the soil moisture content. the information on the dynamics of soil moisture deficit possibly provides us with useful information for the interpretation of tree growth decline on the mountain. mountain.

  • Steel corrosion is the most serious problem in RC structures. Even though patch repair method is normally applied in repair system, the effectiveness is not enough. Cathodic protection in active repair method to deteriorated RC structures. FEM model was developed to simulate the optimized cathodic protection condition. Iro oxidation, hydrogen evolution and oxygen reduction were considered to expect current distribution. Moisture content in concrete which can affect the electrolyte conductivity was used as initial condition.
