Statement of problem: Recently, titanium has become popular as superstructure material in implant dentistry because titanium superstructure can be easily milled by means of computer-aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) technique. But retention form such as nail head or bead cannot be cut as a result of technical limitation of CAD/CAM milling and bond strength between titanium and porcelain is not as strong as that of conventional gold or metal alloy. Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of three different materials: heat curing resin, composite resin, porcelain which were bonded to grade II commercially pure Titanium (CP-Ti). Material and methods: Thirty seven CP-Ti discs with 9 mm diameter, 10 mm height were divided into three groups and were bonded with heat curing resin (Lucitone 199), indirect composite resin (Sinfony), and porcelain (Triceram) which were mounted in a former with 7 mm diameter and 1 mm height. Samples were thermocycled for 1000 cycles at between $5-55^{\circ}C$. Shear bond strength (MPa) was measured with Instron Universal Testing Machine with cross head speed of 1 mm/min. The failure pattern was observed at the fractured surface and divided into adhesive, cohesive, and combination failure. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Scheffe's multiple range test (${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: Lucitone 199 ($17.82{\pm}5.13\;MPa$) showed the highest shear bond strength, followed by Triceram ($12.97{\pm}2.11\;MPa$), and Sinfony ($6.00{\pm}1.31\;MPa$). Most of the failure patterns in Lucitone 199 and Sinfony group were adhesive failure, whereas those in Triceram group were combination failure. Conclusion: Heat curing resin formed the strongest bond to titanium which is used as a CAD/CAM milling block. But the bond strength is still low compared with the bond utilizing mechanical interlocking and there are many adhesive failures which suggest that more studies to enhance bond strength are needed.
Concrete structures such as bridges, pavement, and offshore structures are normally subjected to repeated load. Because highway and airfield pavements are to resist tension in bending, fatigue failure behavior is very important the fatigue life of materials. Therefore, in this paper was carried according to the fatigue test method and experiment variables for pavement concrete. The fatigue tests were applied split tension($150{\times}75$ in size) and flexural($150mm{\times}150mm{\times}550mm$ in size) beam fatigue test method. Major experimental variable in the fatigue tests in order to consideration of fatigue life were conducted loading frequency of 1, 5, 10, 20Hz and loading shape of block, sine, triangle and moisture condition of dry and wet condition and curing age of 28day and 56day. The test results show that the effect of loading frequency increasing the frequency increased fatigue life, decreased significant at frequencies below 200 cycles. The effect of loading wave form on fatigue life show that a block decreased, triangular increased in comparison with sine. The effect of moisture condition decreased in wet condition in comparison with dry condition. The effect of curing age increased in 564ays in comparison with 28day.

In this study, the changes in the degree of conversion (DC) and the microtensile bond strength (MTBS) of self-etching adhesives to dentin was investigated according to the time after curing. The MTBS of Single Bond (SB, 3M ESPE, USA), Clearfil SE Bond (SE, Kuraray, Japan), Xeno-III (XIII, Dentsply, Germany), and Adper Prompt (AP, 3M ESPE, USA) were measured at 48h, at 1 week and after thermocycling for 5,000 cycles between 5$^{\circ}$C and 55$^{\circ}$C. The DC of the adhesives were measured immediately, at 48h and at 7 days after curing using a Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectrometer. The fractured surfaces were also evaluated with scanning electron microscope. The MTBS and DC were significantly increased with time and there was an interaction between the variables of time and material (MTBS, 2-way ANOVA, p = 0.018; DC, Repeated Measures ANOVA, p < 0.001). The low DC was suggested as a cause of the low MTBS of self-etching adhesives, XIII and AP, but the increase in the MTBS of SE and AP after 48h could not be related with the changes in the DC. The microscopic maturation of the adhesive layer might be considered as the cause of increasing bond strength.

The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the shear bond strength of two self-etching primer systems to primary teeth contaminated with saliva and blood. Clearfil SE Bond and AQ Bond were evaluated. One hundred specimens were made by seventy-five deciduous teeth(fifty anterior and twenty-five posterior teeth) and divided randomly into ten groups. Small flat dentinal surfaces were prepared by grinding the buccal, lingual and labial areas. Specific surface treatments were applied to each group: (1) a self-etching primer application(control group), (2) saliva contamination followed by primer(Group I), (3) primer curing followed by saliva contamination (Group II), (4) blood contamination followed by primer(Group III), (5) primer curing followed by blood contamination(Group IV). After bonding of composite resin(Z100, 3M, USA) to contaminated sample surfaces and thermocycling(1,000 cycles), shear bond strengths were measured using Universal Testing Machine(Zwick Z020, Zwick Co., Germany). The results were as follows; 1. Group I showed lower shear bond strength than control group but no statistically significant difference was found(P>0.05). 2. Group II and blood contamination group(Group III & IV) showed significantly lower shear bond strength than control group(P<0.01). 3. The shear bond strength of Clearfil SE Bond was significantly higher than that of AQ Bond(P<0.05).

The weakening and softening behavior of soft clay subjected to cyclic loading due to the build-up of excess pore water pressure is well-known. During the design stage of the foundation of highways and coastal high-rise buildings, it is important to study the mechanical behavior of marine soils under cyclic loading as they undergo greater settlement during cyclic loading than under static loading. Therefore, this research evaluates the cyclic stress-strain and shear strength of untreated and treated marine clay under the effects of wind, earthquake, and traffic loadings. A series of laboratory stress-controlled cyclic triaxial tests have been conducted on both untreated and treated marine clay using different effective confining pressures and a frequency of 0.5 and 1.0 Hz. In addition, treated samples were cured for 28 and 90 days and tested under a frequency of 2.0 Hz. The results revealed significant differences in the performance of treated marine clay samples than that of untreated samples under cyclic loading. The treated marine clay samples were able to stand up to 2000 loading cycles before failure, while untreated marine clay samples could not stand few loading cycles. The untreated marine clay displayed a higher permanent axial strain rate under cyclic loading than the treated clay due to the existence of new cementing compounds after the treatment with recycled tiles and low amount (2%) of cement. The effect of the effective confining pressure was found to be significant on untreated marine clay while its effect was not crucial for the treated samples cured for 90 days. Treated samples cured for 90 days performed better under cyclic loading than the ones cured for 28 days and this is due to the higher amount of cementitious compounds formed with time. The highest deformation was found at 0.5 Hz, which cannot be considered as a critical frequency since smaller frequencies were not used. Therefore, it is recommended to consider testing the treated marine clay using smaller frequencies than 0.5 Hz.
This study was performed to examine the freezing and thawing properties of the high strength concrete using recycled coarse aggregate. The recycled coarse aggregate was replaced by 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of natural crushed aggregate. The compressive strength of the concrete used recycled coarse aggregate was shown in more than $400kgf/cm^2$ at the curing age 28 days. The weight loss ratio by freezing and thawing was shown in less than 1% at all mix type. The pulse velocity and relative dynamic modulus were decreased with increasing the freezing and thawing cycles. Also, durability factor for the freezing and thawing were decreased with increasing the content of recycled coarse aggregate. But, recycled concrete replaced with recycled coarse aggregate 100% was shown in more than 60 by durability factor in freezing and thawing of 300cycles Accordingly, these recycled coarse aggregate can be used for high strength concrete.

This paper represents the permeability of chloride ions and the corrosion performance in the concrete blended with granulate blast furnace slag exposed to chloride environment. An ordinary cement (type I ) and sulfate resisting cement(type V) were used for the experiment. The two cements were combined with $0\%$, $25 \%$, $40\%$, and $55\%$ of the granulated blast furnace slag. The accelerated permeability tests of chloride ions were performed in accordance with ASTM C1202, and the accelerated corrosion tests of steel were carried out by using the method of immersion/drying cycles. After water curing 28 days, 56 days and 91 days, these tests were conducted until 30 cycles. In every cycle, test specimens were wetted in $3\%$ NaCl solution for three days and dried again in $60^{\circ}C$ air for four days. As an experimental results, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ions of the ordinary cement Concrete Combined granulated blast furnace slag was much lower than that of non granulated blast furnace slag concrete. Moreover, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ions of sulfate resisting cement concrete was higher than that of ordinary cement concrete. On the basis of the results of accelerated corrosion tests, corrosion resistance of the concrete mixed with granulated blast furnace slag shows good to corrosion resistance, however, the concrete with sulfate resisting cement shows bad to corrosion resistance.
The static and fatigue characteristics of polyurethane foam cored sandwich structures are investigated. Three types of the specimens with the glass fabric faces and the polyurethane foam core are used; non-stitched. stitched, and stiffened sandwich specimen. Especially additional structural reinforcements with the twisted polyester and glass fiber for thickness direction are made to stitched sandwich structure panel to minimize the delamination of structure which is stitched the upper and lower faces through the core and the resin is impregnated Into stitched fiber with the characteristics of low viscosity of resin at resin flow temperature and cured together with during the curing process. Bending strength of stitched specimen which is 50 mm $50{\times}50{\;}mm$ pitched is improved by 50 % as com-pared with non-stitched specimen and stiffened specimen is improved 10 times more than non-stitched structure. After fatigue testing of $10^6$cycles by 20% of ultimate load under monotonic load, the bending fatigue strength of non-stitched specimen is decreased by 27% of monotonic bending strength, 39% for stitched structure and 20% for stiffened specimen. To verify the aging effect of polyurethane form core, Ultrasonic C-scanning equipment is used to detect the damage of skin laminate alone after fatigue test. From results of UT C-scan images, there is no defect that can be damaged occurred during fatigue test. It is concluded that the decrease of bending strength for foam cored sandwich specimen is caused by the decrease of stiffness due to the aging of polyurethane foam core during fatigue cycles.

The program/erase (P/E) cyclic endurances including bias temperature instability (BTI) behaviors of Metal-$Al_2O_3$-Nitride-Oxide-Semiconductor (MANOS) memories are investigated in comparison with those of Semiconductor-Oxide-Nitride-Oxide-Semiconductor (SONOS) memories. In terms of BTI behaviors, the SONOS power-law exponent n is ~0.3 independent of the P/E cycle and the temperature in the case of programmed cell, and 0.36~0.66 sensitive to the temperature in case of erased cell. Physical mechanisms are observed with thermally activated $h^*$ diffusion-induced Si/$SiO_2$ interface trap ($N_{IT}$) curing and Poole-Frenkel emission of holes trapped in border trap in the bottom oxide ($N_{OT}$). In terms of the BTI behavior in MANOS memory cells, the power-law exponent is n=0.4~0.9 in the programmed cell and n=0.65~1.2 in the erased cell, which means that the power law is strong function of the number of P/E cycles, not of the temperature. Related mechanism is can be explained by the competition between the cycle-induced degradation of P/E efficiency and the temperature-controlled $h^*$ diffusion followed by $N_{IT}$ passivation.

This study was intended to investigate the effects of bituminous material content of soil-cement mixtures on their durability. For the purpose, unconfined compressive strength test, Freeze-thaw test, and wet-dry test were performed with three types of soil. Each type of soil was mixed with three levels of cement content and each soil-cement mixture was mixed with four levels of bituminous material content. For the unconfined compressive strength test, Freeze-thaw test and wet-dry test, 324, 108, and 108-specimens were prepared respectively. Unconfined compressive strength was measured at age of 7-days, 14-days and 28-days using 108-specimens in each age. The soil-cement loss rate due to freeze-thaw and wet-dry were calculated after 12 cycles of test using 108-specimens in each test. The results are summarized as follows : 1. Optimum moisture content was increased with increase of cement content, but maximum dry density was changed irregulary with increase of the cement content. 2. The unconfined compressive strength was increased with increase of cement content, bituminous material content and curing age. Cement is more effective factor than bituminous material on unconfined compressive strength of soil-cement Mixture. 3. It is estimated as the most economical cement content that the recommended cement content of A.S.T.M. because increasing rate of unconfined compressive strength at age of 28-days was low when cement content is above the recommanded cement content of A.S.T.M. among all types of soil. 4. Although a portion of cement content is substituted for bituminous material, the necessary unconfined compressive strength can be obtained. 5. The soil-cement loss was more influenced by wet-dry than Freeze-thaw 6. The bituminous material is more effective on the decrease of soil-cement loss than increase of unconfined compressive strength 7. The void ratio of soil-cement mixture was changet irregularly with increase of cement content, but that was decreased in proportion to the increase of bituminous material content. 8. The regression equation between the unconfined compressive strength and soil-cement loss rate were obtained as table 7.
