본 연구는 아동의 일상 심리학이 그들의 문화에 따라 다르게 나타나는지를 알아보고자 한 것이다. 이러한 발달적 보편성의 문제를 해결하기 위해, 우선 한국 아동과 미국 아동의 타인 행동에 대한 설명을 비교하였다. 또한 서로 다른 문화를 반영할 수 있는 분석 틀을 고안하여. 이러한 서로 다른 분석 틀에 따라 두 나라 아동의 행동설명이 어떻게 다르게 나타나는지를 비교하였다. 본 연구에서는 미국식 범주인 '내적-외적' 법주와 한국식 범주인 '개인-관계-상황' 범주를 사용하였다. 연구결과. 두 나라의 아동은 타인의 행동설명에서 차이를 보여주었다. 미국 아동은 한국 아동에 비해 심리 '내적' 요인과 '개인적' 요인을 더 많이 사용하였으며. 한국 아동은 타인의 '상황적' 조건을 더 많이 고려하여 행동을 설명하였다. 그러나 두 문화권의 아동은 행동설명 과제에서 모두 '내적' 요인과 '개인적' 요인을 다른 요인보다 더 많이 선호하였으며. 오직 '상황적' 요인의 고려에서만 발달적 차이를 나타내는 공통점을 보여주었다.

The purpose of this study was to examine differences in body image and attitudes and behaviors regarding cosmetic surgery between Korean and Americans. Forty females in the U.S and 40 in Korea participated in the study by being interviewed. As a result, while Koreans had positive attitudes toward cosmetic surgery, Americans had negative attitudes. Higher incidences of cosmetic surgery were found among Koreans than among Americans. Koreans with lower body image tended to have ore tolerance toward cometic surgery. These results suggest that cosmetic surgery might be one of many ways to improve their self-esteem, Korean women with lower body image showed higher attitudes or behaviors toward cosmetic surgery than Americans.

Game players showed differences in their favorite genres according to gender and fun factors in games. Women prefer RPG, while men prefer RPG, FPS, and simulation. In addition, there was a difference in the type of communication in the game according to gender. Women showed SNS chat, and men preferred party play. People who chat regularly tend to communicate with others while playing games. The smaller the age, the more tendency to communicate with others. Also, 54% of the respondents said they do not chat while playing games. The reason for this is that they have experienced insult or discomfort through chats during the game.

An attempt to investigate the effect of gender differences on Korean students' EFL learning orientation was made. To explain a Korean EFL learning context, three criteria (cultural distance between the target country and the host country, communicative needs of the TL, the status of the TL in the host country) are adopted. Moreover, as a contrastive FL learning context from the Imposed FL learning context, a FL learning context where there is a substantial cultural distance from the TL community, communication needs of the TL do not exist, and the TL enjoys a special educational and socioeconomic status in the host country, a concept of an Integrative FL learning context is newly brought up in this paper. As the result of a questionnaire conducted in four different high schools, female learners can be claimed to be more internalized about academic and socioeconomic benefits the TL entails for their social advancement and overcoming inequality between men and women in society, albeit insignificant numerical data.

The study aims to identify residents' perceptions of tourism impacts according to the demographic characteristics. The analysis was based on 366 questionnaires given to residents of six rural communities in rural Korea. A series of data analysis such as factor analysis, t-test, and ANOVA was conducted to investigate the residents perceptions of tourism impacts. Results showed that whereas younger, less educated and poor could perceive a negative impacts. older, educated and richer were more likely to perceive a positive impacts of economic, social and environmental spheres. Especially male was more likely to perceive a positive socio-cultural impacts, whereas female was perceive a negative impacts. The results suggest that it is important for policy makers and community leaders to consider social-cultural and economic impact when decision making on development planning.

이 연구는 한국계 이민자 가정과 백인가정 사이의 부모의 행동적 심리적 통제와 아동의 정서적 행복감에 관한 차이를 알아보기 위해 실시하였다. 미국 시애틀 지역의 8에서 9세 사이의 자녀를 둔 31한국계 가정과 31백인 가정이 연구에 참여하였다. 각 각의 부모들과 자녀들에게 질문지를 실시하여 그 결과를 비교하였다. Acceptance/rejection and control 질문지 결과는 한국계 이민자 가정의 아버지들이 백인 아버지들보다 자녀들에게 전반적으로 더 많은 통제와 공격적 양육태도를 보여주었다. Child Regulation Index결과, 한국계 어머니들도 자녀들에게 더 많은 행동조절 지시를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 반해 아동들의 심리내적인 정서를 알아보기 위해 실시한 Reynolds child depression scale에서 한국계 이민자 가정 아동들이 백인 부모의 자녀들보다 자기 자신에 대해 덜 행복하게 느끼고 있음을 보고하였다. 특히 전체적으로 어머니들의 통제가 아동의 심리내적 정서와 관계가 있음이 확인되었고, 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 부모의 심리적 행동적 통제와 아동의 정서적 행복감에 대해 논의하였다.

This paper is the work connected with accounting and culture. The purpose of this study is to examine how Korean accountant groups have cultural characteristics and ethics level compared with non-accountant groups. The results of this paper show that power distance, uncertainty avoidance, masculinity and feminity, long-term and short-term oriented differences compared with accountant groups between non-accountant groups. This paper is about accounting and korean culture would utilize useful data accounting practice and accounting standard establishment and accounting education.

This study aims to search for policy strategies for settlement of North Korean defectors in Korean society, develop strategies based on the results and present their implications. For the purposes, this study set up a cause and effect model referring to previous bibliographical and statistical data. The results are presented as follows: First, to overcome anxiety of exposure in the defectors, personal information should be protected. Second, their psychological problems should be solved and they should be emotionally stable for better adaptation to Korean society. Third, keeping in mind that North Korean defectors are Korean people, the issue of nationality should be institutionally managed. Fourth, as one of difficulties they have is economic problems, practical support measures should be developed to solve them. Fifth, the federal government and local governments should be active in changing their recognition on them and provide the Korean community education for citizens to resolve cultural differences.

This study investigates the difference of the cognitive approach of Korean and Chines of the space direction that modern Chinese space phrase 'N+shang'. For this, we defined the spatial meaning of the noun 'N' and space noun 'shang' then investigate the conditions when 'N+shang' means 'the substance interior direction' and 'the substance exterior direction'. Also via 'lou+shang', we conducted the survey to Korean and Chinese students in order to see the what kind of cognitive differences be shown when they approach and translate the space direction of 'N+shang' structure. As a result of the survey, we were able to find cultural difference of spatial approach of 'N+shang' between these two countries, Korean select the cognitive inference path; from the substance external direction to internal direction while Chinese select from internal to external.

This study compares the ethical inclination regarding consumer misbehaviors from two countries with contrasting cultural characteristics. National samples of South Korean and American adults provided their perceptions of the appropriateness of 12 ethically questionable consumer actions. The scenarios ranged from illegal actions, such as fraudulently inflating one's losses when filing an insurance claim to legal, yet questionable, actions such as purchasing an item that the buyer recognizes as having been mispriced. The 12 scenarios exhibited a wide range of mean responses in both countries, thereby supporting the oft-stated premise that consumer ethics is a situational phenomenon. Findings indicate not only where the cultures diverge but also where they converge towards a degree of congruence. Plausible explanations for differences based upon cultural dynamics are provided.
