Three csp-like genes were identified in the Corynebacterium glutamicum genome and designated cspA, cspB, and cspA2. The genes cspA and cspA2 encode proteins, comprising of 67 amino acid residues, respectively. They share 83% identity with each other. Identity of those proteins with Escherichia coli Csp proteins was near 50%. The cspB gene encodes a protein composed of 127 amino acids, which has 40% and 35% sequence identity with CspA and CspA2, respectively, especially at its N-terminal region. Analysis of the gene expression profiles was done using transcriptional cat fusion, which identified not only active expression of the three genes at the physiological growth temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ but also growth phase-dependent expression with the highest activity at late log phase. The promoters of cspA and cspA2 were more active than that of cspB. The expression of the two genes increased by 30% after a temperature downshift to $15^{\circ}C$, and such stimulation was more evident in the late growth phase. In addition, the cspA gene appeared to show DNA-binding activity in vivo, and the activity increased at lower temperatures. Interestingly, the presence of cspA in multicopy hindered the growth of the host C. glutamicum cells at $20^{\circ}C$, but not at $30^{\circ}C$. Altogether, these data suggest that cspA, cspB, and cspA2 perform functions related to cold shock as well as normal cellular physiology. Moreover, CspA and its ortholog CspA2 may perform additional functions as a transcriptional regulator.
A doubly tethered $N-CH_3$ amide chiral stationary phase (CSP 4) based on (+)-(18-crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxylic acid was applied to the resolution of an antiarrythmic agent, tocainide, and its analogues and the chromatographic resolution results were compared with those on a singly tethered N-H amide CSP (CSP 1), a singly tethered $N-CH_3$ amide CSP (CSP 2) and a doubly tethered N-H amide CSP (CSP 3) under an identical aqueous mobile phase condition. CSP 4 was found to be generally better than other CSPs in terms of the separation factors (${\alpha}$) and resolutions (RS). The retention times of analytes denoted by the retention factors ($k_1$) on CSP 4 were quite long compared to those on other CSPs because of the improved lipophilicity of CSP 4. The long retention times of analytes on CSP 4 were successfully controlled by the addition of a small amount of ammonium acetate to aqueous mobile phase without hurting the chiral recognition efficiency. The variation of the content and type of organic and acidic modifier in aqueous mobile phase was found not to change the chiral recognition efficiency significantly.

In order to study the effect of ozone treated-CSP(crab shell powders) addition in kimchi on shelf-life, sensory quality, neutralization and buffer action during fermentation at 10"C were investigated. The edible periods of kimchi containing 2% CSP by investigating pH and acidity were prolonged by 40 and 33 days, respectively. CSP in kimchi showed strong neutralization action for 0~25 days and buffer action after 25 days during fermentation. The slow and complete neutralization action of 3% CSP in 2% lactic acid solution was observed. Amounts of lactic acid, which 2% CSP in kimchi was capable of absorption by buffer action during fermentation, was 0.07~0.3%. The studies of sensory quality improvement for CSP added kimchi was demanded in the furture.ture.
To develop more advanced binaphthol derived CSPs, two new 1,1-bi-2-naphthol derived chiral stationary phases (CSPs) (CSP 1 and CSP 2) were prepared by connecting with silica gel at a hydroxy (OH) group of binaphthol. Previously reported two 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diamine derived CSPs (CSP 3 and CSP 4) were also prepared to compare the role of their functional groups (-OH and -$NH_2$) with CSP 1 and CSP 2. Enantioseparation of randomly selected, 11 chiral compounds on these four CSPs was performed and the results compared to each other. 3,5-Dinitrobenzoyl (3,5-DNB) derivatives of each CSP showed better results than the others and binaphthyldiamine derived CSP showed slightly better than binaphthol derived one.
A new chiral stationary phase (CSP 2) derived from cyclohexylamide of (S)-naproxen has been prepared. CSP 2 has shown greater enantioselectivities for the two enantiomers of N-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyl)-a-amino esters and amides than the CSP derived from 3,5-dimethylanilide of (S)-naproxen (CSP 1) as expected from the reciprocity conception of chiral recognition. However, CSP 2 has been found to be worse than CSP 1 in resolving N-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyl)-a-arylalkylamines, supporting the previously proposed chiral recognition mechanism which utilizes the 3,5-dimethylphenyl group of CSP 1 as an alternative π-basic interaction site. In addition, CSP 2 has been found to be reasonably good in resolving the two enantiomers of a variety of other π-acidic racemates.
Cold shock proteins (CSPs) are a family of proteins induced at low temperatures. CSPs bind to single-stranded nucleic acids through the ribonucleoprotein 1 and 2 (RNP 1 and 2) binding motifs. CSPs play an essential role in cold adaptation by regulating transcription and translation via molecular chaperones. The solution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or X-ray crystal structures of several CSPs from various microorganisms have been determined, but structural characteristics of psychrophilic CSPs have not been studied. Therefore, we optimized the purification process to obtain highly pure Lm-Csp and determined the three-dimensional structure model of Lm-Csp by comparative homology modeling using MODELLER on the basis of the solution NMR structure of Bs-CspB. Lm-Csp consists of a ${\beta}$-barrel structure, which includes antiparallel ${\beta}$ strands (G4-N10, F15-I18, V26-H29, A46-D50, and P58-Q64). The template protein, Bs-CspB, shares a similar ${\beta}$ sheet structure and an identical chain fold to Lm-Csp. However, the sheets in Lm-Csp were much shorter than those of Bs-CspB. The Lm-Csp side chains, E2 and R20 form a salt bridge, thus, stabilizing the Lm-Csp structure. To evaluate the contribution of this ionic interaction as well as that of the hydrophobic patch on protein stability, we investigated the secondary structures of wild type and mutant protein (W8, F15, and R20) of Lm-Csp using circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The results showed that solvent-exposed aromatic side chains as well as residues participating in ionic interactions are very important for structural stability. Further studies on the three-dimensional structure and dynamics of Lm-Csp using NMR spectroscopy are required.

In this work, we developed fully integrated broadband MMIC chip set employing CSP(Chip Size Package) for K/Ka band applications. By utilizing an ACF for the RF-CSP, the fabrication process for the packaged amplifier MMIC could be simplified and made cost effective. $STO(SrTi_{3})$ capacitors were employed to integrate the DC biasing components on the MMIC, and LC parallel circuits were employed for DC feed and ESD protection. A pre-matching technique and RC parallel circuit were used to achieve a broadband matching and good stability fer the amplifier MMIC in K/Ka band. The amplifier CSP MMIC exhibited good RF performance over a wide frequency range in K/Ka band. This work is the first report of a fully integrated CSP amplifier MMIC successfully operating in the K/Ka band.

Recently, motor imagery electroencephalogram(EEG) based Brain-Computer Interface(BCI) systems have received a significant amount of attention in various fields, including medicine and engineering. The Common Spatial Pattern(CSP) algorithm is the most commonly-used method to extract the features from motor imagery EEG. However, the CSP algorithm has limited applicability in Small-Sample Setting(SSS) situations because these situations rely on a covariance matrix. In addition, large differences in performance depend on the frequency bands that are being used. To address these problems, 4-40Hz band EEG signals are divided using nine filter-banks and Regularized CSP(R-CSP) is applied to individual frequency bands. Then, the Mutual Information-Based Individual Feature(MIBIF) algorithm is applied to the features of R-CSP for selecting discriminative features. Thereafter, selected features are used as inputs of the classifier Least Square Support Vector Machine(LS-SVM). The proposed method yielded a classification accuracy of 87.5%, 100%, 63.78%, 82.14%, and 86.11% in five subjects("aa", "al", "av", "aw", and "ay", respectively) for BCI competition III dataset IVa by using 18 channels in the vicinity of the motor area of the cerebral cortex. The proposed method improved the mean classification accuracy by 16.21%, 10.77% and 3.32% compared to the CSP, R-CSP and FBCSP, respectively The proposed method shows a particularly excellent performance in the SSS situation.

Most weapons systems that are Force Integration are expensive equipment that reflects the latest technology, and the operation and maintenance cost is increasing continuously. Factors that efficiently operate and maintain these weapon systems include maintenance plans, economic costs, and repair part requirements. Among them, predicting the repair parts requirements during the life cycle in advance is an important way to increase operation and maintenance cost efficiency and operating availability. The start of requirement analysis for repair parts is a calculation of the CSP (CSP: Concurrent Spare parts, CSP hereafter) that is distributed when the weapon system is deployed. The CSP is an essential component of achieving the operating availability during this period because the weapon system aims to successfully perform a given operation mission without resupply for an initial set period. In the present study, the CSP calculation method was analyzed, reflecting the failure rate and operating time of items, but the analyzed CSP was aimed at preparing for technical failure, but in the initial operating environment, it is limited in coping with unexpected failures caused by human error. The failure is not included in the scope of free maintenance and is a serious factor in making the weapon system inoperable during the initial operation period. To prevent the inoperable status of a weapon system, CSP that considers human error is required in the initial operating environment, and the calculation criteria and measures are proposed.
