This study was performed to evaluate the chlorine ion penetration resistance, chemical resistance and freezing and thawing resistance used ordinary portland cement, crushed coarse aggregate, crushed sand, river sand, fly ash, limestone powder, blast furance slag powder and superplasticizer to find optimum mix design of low carbon green concrete for structures. The performance of low carbon green concrete used fly ash, limestone powder and blast furnace slag powder were remarkably improved. This fact is expected to have economical effects in the manufacture of low carbon green concrete for offshore structures. Accordingly, the fly ash, limestone powder and blast furnace slag powder can be used for offshore structure materials.

As this study is one related to ultra high strength concrete using crushed coarse limestone aggregates among the series of experiments for improving the economic inefficiency of the ultra high strength concretes used for high rise structures, it has analyzed the flowability of ultra high strength concrete according to the variation of blended fine aggregates. As a result of analyzing the characteristics of fresh concrete, it is determined that the application of ultra high strength concrete would be difficult in case of a mix using blended fine aggregates as lower flowability than the mix using limestone crushed fine aggregate only was shown in all mixes using blended fine aggregates.
The rising prices of landfills and the lack of cement production are motivating researchers to be more interested in using wastes to produce concrete mixtures materials. The use of waste materials such as eggshell and matakoline waste not only reduces landfill costs and space, but also reduces the cost of cement production for the concrete mixture. However, recycling waste materials has become critical in order to effectively manage environmental sustainability. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the appropriate properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) by incorporating waste materials such as crushed ceramics as coarse aggregate and nano egg shell (NES) and nanoclay (NC) as cement replacements. Fresh properties of SCC, such as segregation, flow time and diameter, V-funnel, H2/H1 ratio, and fresh unit weight of concrete mixtures, as well as hardened properties, such as 7, 14, and 28 days compressive strength and 28 and 90 days flexural strength, were measured for this purpose. The presence of NC in the SCC mixture enhanced the compressive strength of the concrete when 5% of NES was added or in the case without the addition of NES compared to the control mixture. The flexural strength enhanced with the incorporation of NC in the SCC increased the flexural strength of the concrete compared to the control mixture, but the incorporation of 5% of NES decreased the flexural strength compared to the mixtures with NC. These results prove the possibility of using crushed ceramics as the coarse aggregate, and NES and NC as substitutes for 5, 7, and 10% of the cement in SCC, because the properties of such SCC in hardened and fresh states are satisfactory.

Recently, as quality river aggregates like sands and gravels become scarce, use of crushed stones and sands, seashore sands, and seashore gravels is increasing abruptly. And, aggregates recycled from slags and waste concretes are used. However, since the converter slag easily expands and breaks due to free lime, differently from the blast-furnace slag, it is not suitable for use as concrete aggregates. Since the atomized steel slag aggregate has slippery surface and spherical shape, the mortar flowing characteristics improved as the atomized steel slag content increases, without regard to the aggregates coarseness and water/cement ratio. The flow characteristics loss rate of the mortar manufactured from steel slag aggregates was similar to that of the mortar manufactured from washed sand only. The compact strength of the mortar manufactured from coarse PS Ball were larger than that manufactured from washing sand only.

This study was performed to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of concrete using waste activated carbon. Materials used were ordinary portlant cement, crushed coarse aggregate, natural fine aggregate, waste activated carbon, and superplasticizer. The substitution ratios of waste activated carbon were 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10%. The unit weight was decreased and water absorption ratio was increased with increasing the waste activated carbon content, respectively. When the substitution ratio of waste activated carbon was 3%, compressive strength, flexural strength and dynamic modulus of elastisity were more higher than that of the ordinary portland cement (OPC), and it was decreased with increasing the waste activated carbon content, respectively. The most effective contents of waste activated carbon was 2% in performance and 4% in practical use Accordingly, waste activated carbon can be used for concrete material.

The recycled concrete, average compressive strength of which was 2l0kg/cm$^2$ or higher with slump range of 14~18cm, was prepared by replacing 25% and 50% by weight of coarse aggregate with recycled aggregate from waste concrete. Mix design method for crushed aggregates was used and all specimens were cured by normal moisture curing method. A plasticiser and a fly ash were added to the mix to improve performance of recycled concrete. Flexural strength, stress- strain relationship and fracture toughness were evaluated by comparing with those of normal concretes. Recycled concrete showed, in general, lower flexural strength and fracture toughness, and higher strain under the same stress level. Fly ash in the concrete had an effect of reducing the strength and fracture toughness on both normal and recycled concretes. Since fly ash is known to improve many properties of concrete, while reducing strength properties, decision for using fly ash should be made carefully depending on the intended usage of the recycled concrete.

This study was performed to evaluate compressive strength, flexural strength, static modulus of elasticity, stress-strain ratio and durability of abrasion on EVA concrete reinforced steel fiber (SF) in order to use hydraulic structures, underground utilities, offshore structures and structures being applied soil contaminated area. It is used ordinary portland cement, crushed coarse aggregate, nature fine aggregate, EVA redispersible polymer powder, superplasticizer and deforming agent to find optimum mix design of EVA concrete reinforced steel fiber. EVA concrete reinforced SF was effected on the improvement of mechanical properties and durability of abrasion.
Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) is a zero slump concrete consisting of a mixture of cementitious materials, sand, dense graded aggregates and water. In this study, an attempt has been made to investigate the effect of aggregate type on strength and abrasion resistance of RCC made by using granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) as partial replacement of cement. Mix proportions of RCC were finalized based upon the optimum water content achieved in compaction test. Two different series of RCC mixes were prepared with two different aggregates: crushed gravel and limestone aggregates. In both series, cement was partially replaced with GGBS at a replacement level of 20%, 40% and 60%. Strength Properties and abrasion resistance of the resultant mixes was investigated. Abrasion resistance becomes an essential parameter for understanding the acceptability of RCC for rigid pavements. Experimental results show that limestone aggregates, with optimum percentage of GGBS, perform better in compressive strength and abrasion resistance as compared to the use of crushed gravel aggregates. Observed results are further supported by stoichiometric analysis of the mixes by using basic stoichiometric equations for hydration of major cement compounds.
To recycle the steel slag as manufactured composite materials of polymer concretes, we used the atomizing method to make round aggregates from steel slag, which is treated as industrial wastes. A round rapid-cooled steel slag was used to replace fine aggregate (river sand) or coarse aggregate (crushed aggregate), depending on the grain size. To examine general physical properties of polymer concrete composites manufactured from rapid-cooled steel slag, the polymer concrete specimen with various proportions depending on the addition ratio of polymer binder and replacement ratio of rapid-cooled steel slag were manufactured. In the result of the tests, the mechanical strength of the specimen made by replacing the optimum amount of rapid-cooled steel slag increased notably (maximum compressive strength 117.1 MPa), and the use of polymer binder, which had the most impact on the production cost of polymer concrete composites, could be remarkably reduced. However, the mechanical strength of the specimen was markedly reduced in hot water resistance test of polymer concrete composite.
To make up for the performance weaknesses of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), expand the application range of RAC, and alleviate the environmental problems caused by excessive exploitation of natural coarse aggregates (NCA), this study proposes a basalt fiber-reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (BFRRAC)-filled square steel tubular columns that combines two modification methods of steel tube and fiber, which may greatly enhance the mechanical properties of RAC. The axial compression performance for BFRRAC-filled square steel tubular columns was reported during this study. Seven specimens with different replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), length-diameter ratios, along with basalt fiber (BF) contents were designed as well as fabricated for performing axial compression test. For each specimen, the whole failure process as well as mode of specimen were discovered, subsequently the load-axial displacement curve has obtained, after which the mechanical properties was explained. A finite element analysis model for specimens under axial compression was then established. Subsequently, based on this model, the factors affecting axial compression performance for BFRRAC-filled square steel tubes were extended and analyzed, after which the corresponding design suggestion was proposed. The results show that in the columns with length-diameter ratios of 5 and 8, bulging failure was presented, and the RAC was severely crushed at the bulging area of the specimen. The replacement ratio of RCA as well as BF content little affected specimen's peak load (less than 5%). As the content of BF enhanced from 0 kg/m3 to 4 kg/m3, the dissipation factor and ductility coefficients increased by 10.2% and 5.6%, respectively, with a wide range.
