As the design rule of device continued to shrink, the contact resistance in small contact size became important. Although the conventional TiN/Ti structure as a ohmic layer has been widely used, we propose a new TiN/Co film structure. We characterized a contact resistance by using a chain pattern and a KELVIN pattern, and a leakage current determined by current-voltage measurements. Moreover, the microstructure of TiN/ Ti/ silicide/n$\^$+/ contact was investigated by a cross-sectional transmission electron microscope (TEM). The contact resistance by the Co ohmic layer showed the decrease of 26 % compared to that of a Ti ohmic layer in the chain resistance, and 50 % in KELYIN resistance, respectively. A Co ohmic layer shows enough ohmic behaviors comparable to the Ti ohmic layer, while higher leakage currents in wide area pattern than Ti ohmic layer. We confirmed that an uniform silicide thickness and a good interface roughness were able to be achieved in a CoSi$_2$ Process formed on a n$\^$+/ silicon junction from TEM images.

In order to develop the end use of cylindrical laminated veneer lumber (LVL) such as wooden crafts, the light resistance properties of natural dye-colored and finished cylindrical LVL was investigated. The study results were as follows; The cross section of LVL showed the higher light resistance than its tangential section, and the light resistance also increased with surface coated. On the other hand, LVL specimen were colored by 9 natural dyes of amur cork-tree etc., and the natural and apparent hue harmonized with wood was found after coating and light resistance test. Particularly, The dyes extracted from amur cork-tree, persimon and sappan wood showed orange color, reddish brown and red color respectively, giving an accenting effect to original wood color.

The aim of the present study was to survey the frequency of inducible and constitutive phenotypes and inducible cross-resistant genes by regulating the methylation of 23S rRNA (ermA, ermB, and ermC) and macrolide efflux-related msrA gene in Staphylococcus aureus and S. epidermidis strains. A total of 172 bacterial isolates (identified based on standard tests), were examined in this study. Antibiotic susceptibility was determined by the disk diffusion method, and all isolates were evaluated with respect to inducible and constitutive phenotypes. The presence of ermA, ermB, ermC, and msrA genes was investigated by a PCR assay. The constitutive resistance phenotypes showed a higher distribution among the isolates. R phenotype was detected more among S. epidermidis isolates (46.25%). ermB, ermC, and msrA genes were detected more in methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis (MRSE) isolates that had R and HD phenotypes (>77% strains). The ermA gene had the lowest frequency among MRSA, MRSE, MSSA, and MSSE strains (<14% isolates). Distribution of inducible resistance genes in MRSA and MRSE strains, and possibly other species, leads to increased constitutive resistance to erythromycin, clindamycin, and other similar antibiotics. Therefore, it can be challenging to treat infections caused by these resistant strains.
As and BF$_2$dopants are implanted for the formation of source/drain with dose of 1${\times}$10$^{15}$ ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$∼5${\times}$10$^{15}$ ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$ then formed cobalt disilicide with Co/Ti deposition and doubly rapid thermal annealing. Appropriate ion implantation and cobalt salicide process are employed to meet the sub-0.13 $\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS devices. We investigated the process results of sheet resistance, dopant redistribution, and surface-interface microstructure with a four-point probe, a secondary ion mass spectroscope(SIMS), a scanning probe microscope (SPM), and a cross sectional transmission electron microscope(TEM), respectively. Sheet resistance increased to 8%∼12% as dose increased in $CoSi_2$$n^{+}$ and $CoSi_2$$p^{V}$ , while sheet resistance uniformity showed very little variation. SIMS depth profiling revealed that the diffusion of As and B was enhanced as dose increased in $CoSi_2$$n^{+}$ and $CoSi_2$$p^{+}$ . The surface roughness of root mean square(RMS) values measured by a SPM decreased as dose increased in $CoSi_2$$n^{+}$ , while little variation was observed in $CoSi_2$$p^{+}$ . Cross sectional TEM images showed that the spikes of 30 nm∼50 nm-depth were formed at the interfaces of $CoSi_2$$n^{+}$ / and $CoSi_2$/$p^{+}$, which indicate the possible leakage current source. Our result implied that Co/Ti cobalt salicide was compatible with high dose sub-0.13$\mu\textrm{m}$ process.
High-speed trains have been developed widely in many countries in order to transport large quantity of people and commodities rapidly. When a high speed train enters a tunnel, aerodynamic resistance is generated suddenly. The resistance caused from air pressure induces micro pressure wave and discomfort to passengers in a train. Therefore, a pressure relief system should be installed in a tunnel to reduce the resistance acting against the running train in a tunnel. Additionally, the shape of a grain should be streamlined in order to reduce aerodynamic resistance caused by a high-speed train. The cross-section of a tunnel also should be carefully designed to reduce discomfort of passengers. This study represents the effect of pressure relief ducts installed between two running tunnels. The pressure relief duct was integrated with a cross-passage in order to save cost and construction time. One-dimensional network numerical simulations were carried out in order to estimate the effect of pressure relief systems.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the clinical and metabolic determinants of circulating soluble leptin receptor (CSLR) and free leptin index (FLI) in pre-pubertal obese male children. Methods: We conducted a preliminary cross-sectional study at three tertiary hospitals and one public primary school. Eighty obese male children without growth and developmental abnormalities aged 5-9 years were recruited. In these children, obesity was solely caused by excessive food intake, and not by acute illness, medications, endocrine abnormalities, or any syndrome. Body mass index (BMI), body fat mass, carbohydrate intake, fat intake, high density lipoprotein cholesterol level, low density lipoprotein cholesterol level, triglyceride level, and Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance are the potential determinants for leptin regulation, which is represented by CSLR level and FLI. Results: Carbohydrate was the main source of energy. BMI and body fat mass had negative weak correlation with CSLR and positive weak correlation with FLI. Furthermore, carbohydrate intake was found to be independently associated with CSLR based on the results of the multiple linear regression analysis. Following an increase in carbohydrate intake, CSLR level decreased progressively without any negative peak. Conclusion: Leptin regulation in prepubertal obese male children is associated with body composition and dietary intake. Carbohydrate intake is useful for predicting CSLR. Lipid profiles and insulin resistance are not related to both CSLR and FLI. Treatment and prevention of leptin resistance in obese children should focus on reducing BMI, fat mass, and carbohydrate intake.
Through the agar dilution method on V-8 juice agar, sensitivity of Phytophthora capsici causing pepper Phytophthora blight to metalaxyl was investigated by using isolates obtained from infected pepper plants during 3 years from 2005 to 2007. By the lapse of time, $EC_{50}$ value to metalaxyl was decreased, showing 1.45, 0.83, and $0.32{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ in 2005, 2006, and 2007. None of 2007 isolates was found to be resistant to metalaxyl. Compared the sensitivity of P. capsici isolates to metalaxyl with those to mandipropamid and dimethomorph, there is not a cross resistance response between metalaxyl and mandipropamid/dimethomorph. The resistance to metalaxyl in pepper Phytophthora blight pathogen was not related with the mycelial growth on V-8 agar medium and the pathogenicity on pepper plants.

A concrete filled square steel tube (CFT) is composed of the external steel material, which its strength is reduced in fire due to sudden temperature increase, and the internal concrete with high thermal capacity that can ensure the fire resistance performance of the structure. Therefore, research about the influence factors of the structural performance of CFT column is required in order to apply CFT column to a fire resisting structure, and additional research about influence for each condition is also necessary. Among the influence factors, the boundary condition between column and beam is important structurally, and it is one of the major factors that determine overall fire resisting performance. This study performed a fire experiment under loading in order to analyse the influences of CFT column to the boundary condition. As the results of the experiment, fire resistance time of 106 minutes was ensured for the clamped-end condition but 89 minutes for the hinge-end condition in case of the 360 cross section. And, fire resistance time of 113 minutes was ensured for the clamped-end condition but 78 minutes for the hinge-end condition in case of the 280 cross section.

Sensitivity of Phytophthora infestans isolates to fungicides metalaxyl and ethaboxam in Korea was examined with 260 isolates for 3 years (9 isolates in 2000,93 isolates in 2001, and 158 isolates in 2002). Both Al and A2 mating types were found from the isolates collected for 3 years. Al mating type was dominant in the population with 8 isolates (88.9%) in 2000, 84 isolates (89.4%) in 2001, and 138 isolates (87.3%) in 2002. Only some isolates from diseased tomatoes in Buyergun and diseased potatoes in Pyeongchanggun were of the A2 mating type. As for metalaxyl sensitivity, 77.0% of the isolates were moderately resistant with 8 isolates (88.9%) in 2000, 73 isolates (77.7%) in 2001, and 120 isolates (75.9%) in 2002. Meanwhile, those found resistant were 1 isolate (11.1%) in 2000, 16 isolates (17.0%) in 2001, and 33 isolates (20.9%) in 2002. Only 5 isolates (3.2%) were sensitive to metalaxyl in 2002. There was no significant difference in the sensitivity among years. As for ethaboxam, no isolate was able to grow at 5.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$ /ml, and only four isolates (1.5 %) grew at 1.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$ /ml with heavy retardation compared with the untreated control. Based on these 3-year results, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ethaboxam to p. infestans was determined to be 0.2-1.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$ /ml. Results indicate that resistance development by p. infestans to ethaboxam is not likely to occur in the natural condition. furthermore, there was no indication of cross resistance between metalaxyl and ethaboxam because all the isolates, regardless of classification for their sensitivity to metalaxyl, were not able to grow at 5.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$ /ml of ethaboxam.
In order to develop the end use of cylindrical laminated veneer lumber (LVL) such as wooden crafts, the water proof-bonding strength, the resistance to abrasion and the surface hardness by painting the surface of LVL were investigated. The study results were as follows; The water proof-bonding strength through 5 cyclic test by boiling in water immersion and drying were favorable without delamination of glue line. Then the formulation of glue was resorcinol resin (100) to hardener of paraformaldehyde (5) by mixed weight percentage. The resistance to abrasion was relatively higher at cross section than tangential section. When tangential section of LVL was painted by UV protection oil, the resistance to abrasion was improved. In case of an cross section of LVL, the higher surface hardness appeared at larch core than radiata pine LVL. Also, in case of an tangential section of LVL, the higher surface hardness appeared at glue line than veneer side.
