In order to evaluate NMR spectrometer as the analytical tool for identification of individual adjuvant in crop protection products, the standard sample of individual adjuvant was analyzed by NMR spectrometer and then the formulation of crop protection products was also analyzed. Almost polymer system of surfactant was a co-polymer and there was an excess of ethylene. The most intense signal comes from long polyethylene blocks, 70.5 ppm. The carbonyl groups of ester group resonate at 173.5 ppm. Analytical sample was prepared in NMR tube without extraction, cleanup, concentration, or chromatographic separation. Identification of individual adjuvant in crop protection products was conducted by comparison of sample and reference spectra. NMR spectrometer was useful to analyze adjuvant in crop protection products without preparation process.
In the field of agriculture, FT-NIR mainly has been used in qualitative management of produces without sample preparation with a data set built from a quantitative value of sample components confirmed by another analytical instrument. On the other hand, inert materials of crop protection products nearly haven't examined instrumental analysis because of analytical problems of high-molecular inert materials and a variety of formulation type. This study, results make it possible to solve an analytical problems of crop protection products using FT-NIR chemometrics technique from spectrum calculator module.
Nine herbicide products (fluazifop-p-butyl, clethodim, MCPA-sodium, 2,4-0 amine, chlorthal dimethyl, diquat, glyphosate, ethalfluralin and oryzalin) were evaluated for use on ginseng (Panax quinquefolius). Products varied in their ability to suppress weeds and certain materials were phytotoxic to ginseng in some trials. Chlorthal dimethyl (broadleaf weeds), MCPA-sodium (broadleaf weeds), fluazifop-p-butyl (grass weeds), and clethodim (grass weeds) were found to be effective as weed control agents and did not adversely affect ginseng growth. Other products tested were either not efficacious or were phytotoxic to ginseng in some trials. Weed populations were mainly introduced into the planting sites via the straw mulches used in ginseng cultivation.
Erwinia amylovora and Erwinia pyrifoliae cause fire blight and black-shoot blight, respectively, in apples and pears. E. pyrifoliae is less pathogenic and has a narrower host range than that of E. amylovora. Fire blight and black-shoot blight exhibit similar symptoms, making it difficult to distinguish one bacterial disease from the other. Molecular tools that differentiate fire blight from black-shoot blight could guide in the implementation of appropriate management strategies to control both diseases. In this study, a primer set was developed to detect and distinguish E. amylovora from E. pyrifoliae by conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The primers produced amplicons of different sizes that were specific to each bacterial species. PCR products from E. amylovora and E. pyrifoliae cells at concentrations of 104 cfu/ml and 107 cfu/ml, respectively, were amplified, which demonstrated sufficient primer detection sensitivity. This primer set provides a simple molecular tool to distinguish between two types of bacterial diseases with similar symptoms.
Recently, serious problems occurred such as insecticide eggs, sanitary pads with carcinogens, radon(Rn) emitting beds in domestic. It had not been establishing the inspection system to evaluate safety and human harmfulness before occurring real accidents. This research was conducted to test preliminary experimental inspection for consideration of safety insensibility. The influence of corrosion of metals and plants was studied through aerosol type spraying of agricultural pesticide products coming into the market. These products contain primary three insecticide ingredients(Flufenoxuron, Etoxazole, Fipronil) in recent accidents. Visual examination, SEM-EDS and optical microscope were used for the analysis for corrosion effect. Results show that a lot of ingredients contain in the crop protection products, and various type of corrosion exist in the surface of metals and plants. Therefore, it is necessary to provide health warning and accurate range of use for crop protection products containing insecticide ingredients.
BACKGROUND: The commercial biopesticides containing Chenopodium ambrosioides L. extracts which have been registered as one of the ingredients of the commercial biopesticide by the organic agriculture materials, and have been widely used in Republic of Korea. However, the quantitative analysis method of the active substances for the commercial biopesticides containing C. ambrosioides L. extract has not been conducted.METHODS AND RESULTS: To analyze the quantitative analysis of ascaridole, carvacrol, and p-cymene as active substances of C. ambrosioides L. extract, hydrophilic lipophilic balance cartridge was used for solid phase extraction. The active substances were analyzed by the gas chromatography with flame ionization detector. The limit of quantitation values of ascaridole, carvacrol, and p-cymene were 10, 5, and 2 mg/L, and the recovery rates were 96.3, 84.0, and 82.5% in liquid products and 98.3, 99.1, and 97.3% in solid products, respectively. The total content of ascaridole, carvacrol, and p-cymene in the commercial biopesticides was ranged from 0.08 to 12.75%.CONCLUSION: From these results, this method was suitable for the quantitative analysis of the active substances of commercial biopesticides containing C. ambrosioides L. extract.
BACKGROUND: Irrigation water is known to be one of the major sources of bacterial contamination in agricultural products. In addition, anti-microbial resistance (AMR) bacteria in food products possess serious threat to humans. This study was aimed at investigating the prevalence of foodborne bacteria in irrigation water and evaluating their anti-microbial susceptibility. METHODS AND RESULTS: Surface water (n = 66 sites) and groundwater (n = 40 sites) samples were collected from the Gyeongi and Gangwon provinces of South Korea during April, July, and October 2019. To evaluate the safety of water, fecal indicators (Escherichia coli) and foodborne pathogens (E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp., and Listeria monocytogenes) were examined. E. coli isolates from water were further tested for antimicrobial susceptibility using VITEK2 system. Overall, detection rate of foodborne pathogens in July was highest among three months. The prevalence of pathogenic E. coli (24%), Salmonella (3%), and L. monocytogenes (3%) was higher in surface water, while only one ground water site was contained with pathogenic E. coli (2.5%). Of the 343 E. coli isolates, 22.7% isolates were resistant to one or more antimicrobials (ampicillin (18.7%), trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (7.0%), and ciprofloxacin (6.7%)). CONCLUSION: To enhance the safety of agricultural products, it is necessary to frequently monitor the microbial quality of water.

Sustainable agriculture in Korea will gain important momentum by implementing The Direct Payment Scheme for Environmentally Friendly Agriculture in 1999. The farmers who want to participate in the program will be paid 530,000won/ha directly by the Government in return for engaging sustainable agriculture. The policy scheme which is a pilot program will be restricted to environmentally regulated areas to apply such as water supply protection zone, environmental protection districts and national parks. As a consequence of the policy, the supply of transitional organic agricultural products is expected to increase significantly. However the increased supply of low input agricultural products may have difficulties to find an appropriate marketing channel which is differentiated from the general agricultural product market. Development of an open market system for mass transaction of the low imput agricultural products is necessary. Also various government programs and projects which are designed for clean environment and regional community development must be integrated into the sustainable agriculture program to have synergy effects.
Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici is a soil borne pathogenic fungus associated with wheat roots. The accurate quantification of gene expression during the process of infection might be helpful to understand the pathogenic molecular mechanism. However, this method requires suitable reference genes for transcript normalization. In this study, nine candidate reference genes were chosen, and the specificity of the primers were investigated by melting curves of PCR products. The expression stability of these nine candidates was determined with three programs-geNorm, Norm Finder, and Best Keeper. $TUB{\beta}$ was identified as the most stable reference gene. Furthermore, the exopolygalacturonase gene (ExoPG) was selected to verify the reliability of $TUB{\beta}$ expression. The expression profile of ExoPG assessed using $TUB{\beta}$ agreed with the results of digital gene expression analysis by RNA-Seq. This study is the first systematic exploration of the optimal reference genes in the infection process of Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici.

Crop Protection Products (CPPs) are a useful weapon in our fight against the pests, diseases and weeds that harm or destroy our food. To be effective CPPs need to exhibit some persistence. The consequence of this is that residues of the original material or its metabolites may remain on food and thus there is a potential for the intake of such residues. The issue of CPP residues in food is an emotional subject and is rarely debated rationally or supported by scientific facts. Media headlines like “Poison in our food” or “These days enough Pesticides (CPPs) are sprayed onto vegetables to turn you into one” are testimony to the high level of emotion that surrounds the subject of CPP residues in food. Recent surveys of consumers have indicated that more than 80 percent view CPP residues in food as a “serious hazard”. This significantly exceeds concerns over drugs, hormones in meat, nitrates in food, irradiated foods, food additives, or artificial colours.
