  • The present study examines Nietzsche's critique of Schopenhauer with regard to the problem of morality and the basis thereof. Schopenhauer's philosophy that each written life as objectification of the will, had an important impact on the early development of Nietzsche's philosophy. But nevertheless Nietzsche criticized Schopenhauer because he denies life in the value of earthly life. Schopenhauer asserts that life is a painful matter because the blind govern all life, and pushes. But unlike Nietzsche, Schopenhauer buoyed the meaning of life, which increases again with the will to power and carry out. Of course there is some resemblance between Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, namely equiprimordiality as both distance themselves from the traditional philosophy that characterizes the man as a rational being and understands. They both destruct the idea of philosophy as a science, and try together to build another philosophical horizon. But in terms of interpretations of life and morals, they have taken different paths. According to Schopenhauer, our life is ultimately sad and agonizing. To overcome this situation, we must deny the will to live and renounce it absolutely. He believes that the moral can eliminate the displacement of the blind will to live and overcome. But in comparison, Nietzsche claims that morality or any moral act is always driven out of resentment. But this resentment is nothing more than a revenge or retribution, which was invented by the weakness. But according to Nietzsche, the feeling of resentment clear will to live. The present paper examines whether Nietzsche's moral critique of Schopenhauer is possible and if so, such a moral critique of Nietzsche can be performed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate Chu Hsi's theory of Ge Wu by analyzing the $L{\ddot{u}}$ shi daxuexie (呂氏大學解) in the Critique of Adulterated Learning (雜學辨). Critique of Adulterated Learning was written by Chu Hsi(朱熹) for the purpose of criticizing the confucian scholars who inclined to Taoism and Buddhism. Chu Hsi criticized $L{\ddot{u}}$ Pen-chung(呂本中)'s theory of Ge Wu Zhi Zhi, especially focusing on his understandings based on the Buddhist tendency. $L{\ddot{u}}$ Pen-chung considered Ge Wu Zhi Zhi as the processes of emerging Liang Zhi of the Subject to discipline by investigating the Li of things. He said "Regard an awakening as the standard of Ge Wu Zhi Zhi", as he payed more attention to the mind of the Subject rather than a long process of accumulation of Li. In comparison with him, Chu Hsi considered enormous each step to accumulate Li as more important to reach the completions of knowledge. Especially, while grasping Li, he considered they should have an understandings of things from the routines to the origins of the principles - that is from the principles of things to the reasons of things are. Chu Hsi approached to the Ge Wu in the meaning of political theory in his early days. However, Chu Hsi expands the width of his thought with a theoretical tool of 'Li-i fen-shu (理一分殊)' in the course of criticizing $L{\ddot{u}}$ Pen-chung's theory of Ge Wu Zhi Zhi. In that sense, His criticism of $L{\ddot{u}}$ Pen-chung(呂本中)'s theory was not only the process of struggling against Buddhist philosophies, but also the process of deepening of his philosophy.

  • The Tian-Ren Relations theory was prevalent in Han period. People says that after this, in the West Han period, Dong zhong shu systematized the theory. In his Tian-Ren Relations theory, the various characters of Ren & Tian has same structure by personifying Tian and Nature. Wang chong's Tian-Ren Relations theory is not only very a critique on the Tian-Ren response theory in West Han period, but also a basis of his own thought-system. At that time, the social consciousness form was already the modified Tian-Ren response theory. But Wang chong sharply criticized it, because he thought that Tian-Ren response theory is very falsehood. Critique of Wang chong has two aspect, One is truth and falsehood judgement in empirical fact of human about the Tian-Ren response theory. The other is right and wrong judgement in value of human & society about the Tian-Ren response theory. The different meanings are always overlapped each other or appeared at the same time in critique of Wang chong In this paper will be research on this Tian-Ren relations theory of Wang chong, his critique on Tian-Ren response theory and the meaning of human-being on his theory.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the authenticity of Jeju architecture, to give attention to contemporary architecture that we inhabit, and to escape from existing architectural discourse of Jeju architecture. This study seeks the ontological thinking of Jeju architecture on the basis of the judgement of critique and ontology of architecture. The ontological thinking of Jeju architecture can be studied in the aspect of disinterested of authenticity and ontological question of authenticity. As a result of this study, two aspects in the ontological thinking of Jeju architecture are revealed. One aspect of the authenticity of Jeju architecture is laying in the disinterested area. Another aspect is that authenticity of Jeju architecture is revealed through the ontological question of Jeju architecture. These aspects mean the authenticity of Jeju architecture as thinking which represents ontological layer of Jeju architecture.

  • To ensure resource adequacy in restructured electricity markets, policymakers have adopted installed capacity (ICAP) markets in some regions of the United States. These markets ensure that adequate generation exists to satisfy regional Loss of Load Probability(LOLP) criterion. Since the incentives created through ICAP mechanisms directly impact new generation and transmission investment decisions we examine one important factor that links ICAP markets with LOLP calculations;, determining the amount of ICAP credit assigned to particular generation units. First, we review and critique the literature on electric power systems' market failure resulting from demand exceeding supply. We then summarize the method of computing (the LOLP) as a means of assessing reliability and relate this method to ICAP markets. We find that only the expected value of available generation is used In current ICAP markets while ignoring the second and higher order moments, which tends to mis-state the ICAP value of a specific resource. We then consider a proposal whose purpose is to avoid this ICAP assignment issue by switching from ICAP obligations to options. We find that such a proposal may fail to not provide the benefits claimed and suffers from several practical difficulties. Finally, we conclude with some policy recommendations and areas for future research.

  • Storytelling approach is the way to formulate and solve problems using stories. Story is a means to understand and react everyday life that can be regarded as multi-dimensional problems. The approach becomes popular in various fields in conjunction with digital technology. In particular, it is used to solve problems in relation to whole context. In design, storytelling approach is used to clarify design constraints. It can be used to clarify and communicate thoughts for design artifacts, and to understand how the artifacts might be used in particular circumstances. In particular, the approach is useful to use under uncertain circumstances. In architecture, storytelling approach can be used in the area of design generation, design critique and capturing design knowledge. In design generation, it can be used to describe and formulate design experiences rather than simple designing artifacts. The approach formalizes design based on stories of user experiences. Digital technology such as virtual reality can be used to experience designed spaces for design modifications. In design critique area, it can be used to fill uncertain facts for historical buildings as welt as different from present status. Such stories can be used to build digital modeling and used to open criticism. Stories can be used to formalize knowledge in architectural domain as a form of implicit knowledge for certain projects. In architecture, it often is required to design types of environment never experienced before as well as to accomodate fast changing technologies. Storytelling methodology can be used as a method to cope with uncertainty and complexity in design requirements along with accumulating design knowledge.

  • This paper addresses G$\ddot{o}$del's critique of Turing's mechanism that a configuration of the Turing machine corresponds to each state of human mind. The first part gives a quick overview of Turing's analysis of cognition as computation and its variants. In the following part, we describe the concept of Turing machines, and the third part explains the computational limitations of Turing machines as a cognitive system. The fourth part demonstrates that Godel did not agree with Turing's argument, sometimes referred to as mechanism. Finally, we discuss an oracle Turing machine and its implications.

  • This article offers a reflection on Frantz Fanon's diagnosis and analysis of French colonialism in Algeria. We will attempt to demonstrate that there is a concrete and clear connection between Fanon as the psychiatrist diagnosing the devastating effects of the French colonial system, and his subsequent political involvement in the Algerian revolution. This is not to say that each part does not contain valuable insights in their own rights, but rather to stress that without being read together, as a whole, one would miss a significant element in the understanding of the importance Fanon's thought subsequently came to play in the emancipation struggles of the colonized worldwide. Furthermore, we argue that it is crucial to understand the intimate connection between Fanon's psychiatric work, his diagnosis of colonial mental disorders, as well as diagnosis of the colonial system as such, and then his political engagement, in order to understand the particular context in which he favourably discusses the use of violence in the name of fighting against the oppressive system of colonialism. Above all, we argue that Fanon's critique of colonialism continues to spark controversy because it still represents the most powerful and incisive analysis of, as well as answer to, the troubled relationship between the blessed and the wretched of the earth.

  • The present lecture aims to discuss Nietzsche's critique of metaphysics, religion and morality through the affect. Nietzsche's philosophical attempt for the existential health of man made possible by the affirmation of the earth as a world of realistic life. The affirmation about the nascent Earth means that one feels the world as a world of pleasure. But metaphysics and religion have imagined the earthly world of this world as a place against lust. That is, metaphysics and religion suppress the actual affect of man. From the aspect of metaphysics, religion and morality, the human affect is dangerous. But according to Nietzsche, affect is the basic condition revealed by man's nature. The present lecture aims to discuss Nietzsche's critique of metaphysics, religion, and morality in the guide to his concept of affect.

  • This thesis is an introduction and critique of the recently released 'Wongyo-Jinjeok(원교진적)'. 'Wongyo-Jinjeok' is the critique of Seokjeong Jeong-Jik Lee (석정 이정직, 1841-1910), a practical scientist and writer during the last years of the Korean Empire, on the calligraphy of Wongyo(원교) Gwang-Sa Lee (이광사, 1705-1777). Even though whether or not Seokjeong follows the flow of Donggukjinche(동국진체) is to be determined by the specialists in this field, this thesis is based on the view that Seokjeong was influenced by Donggukjinche. The academic value of 'Wongyo-Jinjeok' is Seokjeong's preface and epilogue which critiques Wongyo's writing. 'Wongyo-Jinjeok'is a collection of calligraphic specimens from the 18 pieces of Chinese poetry Wongyo had written before and after June 1756 which was the year after he was banished to Booryung. Seokjeong critiqued the writing of Wongyo from the perspective of calligraphic history in the preface and epilogue of 'Wongyo-Jinjeok'. Seokjeong had been positive about Wongyo's taking after the pre-Wangheejee calligraphic style. But at the same time, Seokjeong thought that Wongyo's ability to create was limited by the public morals of that time. Such thought of Seokjeong can be interpreted as an evaluation of Wongyo's calligraphy as having been externally stern but failing to transcend the realm of mastery to the realm of creation.
