In this paper, we studied the configuration and depth measurement method of the crack in the interior of solid with scanning laser acoustic microscope. Precision measurement method of crack depth is required in SLAM because that system reconstructs the shadow image to the transmission coefficient. We proposed this method that used geometrical structure to the shadow area of SLAM images obtained from oblique incidence and the mode conversion of ultrasound in specimen and then experimented it. For this experiment, we fabricated various specimens which had the vertical line-crack with different depth and made the wedge as 20$^{\circ}$ for oblique incidence. Experimental results showed that the shadow area of SLAM images were proportional to the depth of crack. Measured depth error to the crack was less than 6% compared with practical crack depth.
Objectives: To determine the incidence of crack formation and propagation in apical root dentin after retreatment procedures performed using ProTaper Universal Retreatment (PTR), Mtwo-R, ProTaper Next (PTN), and Twisted File Adaptive (TFA) systems. Materials and Methods: The study consisted of 120 extracted mandibular premolars. One millimeter from the apex of each tooth was ground perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth, and the apical surface was polished. Twenty teeth served as the negative control group. One hundred teeth were prepared, obturated, and then divided into 5 retreatment groups. The retreatment procedures were performed using the following files: PTR, Mtwo-R, PTN, TFA, and hand files. After filling material removal, apical enlargement was done using apical size 0.50 mm ProTaper Universal (PTU), Mtwo, PTN, TFA, and hand files. Digital images of the apical root surfaces were recorded before preparation, after preparation, after obturation, after filling removal, and after apical enlargement using a stereomicroscope. The images were then inspected for the presence of new apical cracks and crack propagation. Data were analyzed with ${\chi}^2$ tests using SPSS 21.0 software. Results: New cracks and crack propagation occurred in all the experimental groups during the retreatment process. Nickel-titanium rotary file systems caused significantly more apical crack formation and propagation than the hand files. The PTU system caused significantly more apical cracks than the other groups after the apical enlargement stage. Conclusions: This study showed that retreatment procedures and apical enlargement after the use of retreatment files can cause crack formation and propagation in apical dentin.

Based on the nonlinear spring model coupled with perturbation method, 2nd harmonic waves generated by oblique incident ultrasound on nonlinear crack interface were calculated and investigated. Reflected and transmitted waves from the interface were determined and analyzed at various angle of incidence for the cracks with different interfacial stiffness in order to estimate the 2nd harmonic generation of incident ultrasound. It was shown in computer simulation that the 2nd harmonic components changed much with the increase of incidence angle in both reflected and transmitted wave, but became very small when the incident angle approached toward 90 degree. It can be concluded that the 2nd harmonic component of reflected wave has a meaningful amplitude as much as the transmitted 2nd harmonic wave from partly closed crack.

In this study, we have prepared three kinds of enteric tablet coating formulations for prevention the crack incidence and enhanced process improvement of enteric tablet using aqueous system. we determined the mechanical strength of three formulatons on the enteric film-coating process. The compared experiment of one-layer and two-layer (A), (B) coating treated having placebo tablets without breakline and logo. In result, the breaking force time of two-layer (B) film strength was found to increase 0.8min than two-layer (A). We confirmed the half reduction of working hour and the simplification in the one-layer coating process, and the coating troubles was solved as setting up a dehumidifier in inlet of coater. In result, we recovered that optimum running capacity(g/kg) of dehumidifier is 10g/kg and below.

This Paper describes a crack scattering model for SH wave based on the boundary integral equation(BIE) method, where the fundamental unknown is crack opening displacement(COD). When a time harmonic plane wave was incident on a 2-D isolated crack (slit) of width 2a, the COD distributions were numerically calculated as a function of ka. The calculated COD agreed well with results obtained with other methods. The far-field scattering amplitude, which completely characterizes the flaw response, was calculated in two ways. The Kirchhoff approximation and the BIE-COD exact formulation were compared in terms of incidence angle and frequency ka in a pulse-echo mode. Maximum response was obtained for both methods at the specular reflection direction. Away from the specular direction, the Kirchhoff approximation becomes less accurate. The time domain crack response was also calculated using a band-limited spectrum of center frequency 10 MHz. At oblique incidence to the crack both methods show the existence of an antisymmetric flash points occurring from the crack edge. The Kirchhoff approximation provides an exact time interval between flash points, although it unrealistically gives the same amplitude.
Objectives: The aim was to evaluate dentinal crack formation after root canal preparation with ProTaper Next system (PTN) with and without a glide path. Materials and Methods: Forty-five mesial roots of mandibular first molars were selected. Fifteen teeth were left unprepared and served as controls. The experimental groups consist of mesiobuccal and mesiolingual root canals of remaining 30 teeth, which were divided into 2 groups (n = 15): Group PG/PTN, glide path was created with ProGlider (PG) and then canals were shaped with PTN system; Group PTN, glide path was not prepared and canals were shaped with PTN system only. All roots were sectioned perpendicular to the long axis at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 mm from the apex, and the sections were observed under a stereomicroscope. The presence/absence of cracks was recorded. Data were analyzed with chi-square tests with Yates correction. Results: There were no significant differences in crack formation between the PTN with and without glide path preparation. The incidence of cracks observed in PG/PTN and PTN groups was 17.8% and 28.9%, respectively. Conclusions: The creation of a glide path with ProGlider before ProTaper Next rotary system did not influence dentinal crack formation in root canals.

The scattered field by a gap/crack on the PEC surface of a large object having low-observable RCS cannot be negligible, but may not be analyzed by the known high-frequency technique. If the electrical width of the crack is very small, the crack can be modeled by an impedance strip, whose scattering formulation can be analytically obtained based on a low-frequency approximation. The scattering solution is formulated for the 2D strip and TE(Transverse Electric) or TM(Transverse Magnetic) wave incidence, from which a 3D ILDC(Incremental Length Diffraction Coefficients) can be extracted. Using the ILDC formulation, the scattering by any arbitrary shaped crack can be estimated. In this paper, an improved ILDC equations are proposed, which combine the known TE and TM solutions. The improved accuracy of the proposed solution is numerically verified.
In the continuous casting process, the incidence of transverse surface cracks on the piece may occur by multiple and diverse variables. It is noted that mathematical models may predict only the occurance of the transverse surface cracks, but can require a lot of time (more than three days) to produce a result with this process. This study applied neural networks to predict whether the cracks on the piece surface occurs or does not occur. The computation time was shortened to three minutes, making it applicable to an on-line program, which predicts the non-cracks or cracks of the piece surface in the actual continuous casting process. In addition, the operating conditions to prevent the occurrence of the transverse surface cracks, using decision boundaries were also suggested.
The purposes of this study were to evaluate the efficiency of cavity preparation and to determine the incidence of tooth crack when root-end retrograde cavity preparation was done with ultrasonics. 91 distobuccal root-ends of extracted human maxillary first molars were cut by 3 mm perpendicularly to the long axis of tooth using a slow speed diamond saw, retrocavities were prepared using a slow-speed no. 2 round bur as controls, and stainless steel ultrasonic tips of power settings of 1 through 10 as experimentals. Time consumed and the number of strokes used for the cavity preparation were measured and evaluated, and the incidence of tooth cracks was observed under a stereomicroscope. The results were as follows : For the retrograde cavity preparation, time and number of strokes used were decreased as the ultrasonic power setting increased (p<0.001). High power setting of ultrasonics induced significantly more tooth cracks than did the slow-speed bur or low- and medium power setting of ultrasonics (p<0.05). Teeth with previous crack induced significantly more tooth cracks than those without previous one when high power setting of ultrasonics were used for the retrograde cavity preparation (p<0.001). Teeth with initial apical canal size of no. 10 induced significantly more crack than did those with size of no. 15 when low power setting of ultrasonics were used for the retrograde cavity preparation (p<0.05).
The purposes of this study were to evaluate the efficiency of dentin cutting and root-end cavity preparation, and to determine the incidence of tooth crack when root-end retrograde cavity preparation was done with. ultrasonic diamond instruments. To evaluate the efficiency of dentin cutting, ultrasonic diamond and stainless steel instruments were applied to 20 exposed bovine dentin surfaces perpendicularly or parallely at the low, and medium power settings for 1 minute ($Miniendo^{TM}$, EIE, CA, U.S.A.). The resultant cavity depth was measured. To evaluate the efficiency of cavity preparation and to investigate the incidence of tooth crack, 165 mesiobuccal, distobuccal and palatal root-ends of extracted human maxillary first molars were resected by 3 mm perpendicularly to the long axis of tooth using a slow speed diamond saw after root canal preparation and filling. Retrocavities were prepared using a ultrasonic diamond instrument or a stainless steel one of the low- or medium power settings of 2 or 6. Time consumed and the number of strokes used for the cavity preparation were measured and the incidence of tooth cracks was evaluated under a stereomicroscope. The results were as follows: Both at the low and medium power settings, and both with perpendicularly- and parallely applied tips to dentin, diamond instruments showed higher dentin cutting efficiency than stainless steel ones did (p<0.01). When tips were applied to dentin perpendicularly, both diamond instrument and stainless steel one showed higher cutting efficiency with medium power setting than with low power one (p<0.01). Both at the low- and medium power settings, both diamond instrument and stainless steel one showed higher cutting efficiency when tips were applied perpendicularly to dentin surface than applied parallely (p<0.01). At the medium power setting, the number of stroke and time consumed were less with diamond instrument than with stainless steel one (p<0.05) for the retrograde cavity preparation. At the low power setting, diamond instrument induced less tooth cracks than stainless steel one did (p<0.01).
