  • In a bank-to-turn(BTT) missile, if a 2-gimbaled seeker was stabilized using a 2-axis rate gyro mounted along its primary axis, the change of line of sight(LOS) measured by the seeker would be induced by rolling effects due to bank-to-turn(BTT) steering as well as an actual change. It is observed that the body-coupled effects in a homing loop of BTT missile are mainly concerned with the spurious target maneuver and the coupling due to the rate gyro misalignments. In this paper, we formulate a simple linear BTT homing loop model with seeker model including each body-coupling. With the model, we analyze the effects of the couplings on the homing loop stability, and propose a direct linear compensator for the coupling to recover the stability.

  • The investigation on vehicle-bridge coupling system (VBCS) is crucial in bridge design, bridge condition evaluation, and vehicle overload control. A real-time hybrid testing (RTHT) method for VBCS (RTHT-VBCS) is proposed in this paper for accurately and economically disclosing the dynamic performance of VBCSs. In the proposed method, one of the carriages is chosen as the experimental substructure loaded by servo-hydraulic actuator loading system in the laboratory, and the remaining carriages as well as the bridge structure are chosen as the numerical substructure numerically simulated in one computer. The numerical substructure and the experimental substructure are synchronized at their coupling points in terms of force equilibrium and deformation compatibility. Compared to the traditional iteration experimental method and the numerical simulation method, the proposed RTHT-VBCS method could not only obtain the dynamic response of VBCS, but also economically analyze various working conditions. Firstly, the theory of RTHT-VBCS is proposed. Secondly, numerical models of VBCS for RTHT method are presented. Finally, the feasibility and accuracy of the RTHT-VBCS are preliminarily validated by real-time hybrid simulations (RTHSs). It is shown that, the proposed RTHT-VBCS is feasible and shows great advantages over the traditional methods, and the proposed models can effectively represent the VBCS for RTHT method in terms of the force equilibrium and deformation compatibility at the coupling point. It is shown that the results of the single-degree-of-freedom model and the train vehicle model are match well with the referenced results. The RTHS results preliminarily prove the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed RTHT-VBCS.

  • Based on the Arrhenius equations, several hydration exothermic models that precisely calculate the influence of concrete's self-temperature duration on its hydration exothermic rate have been presented. However, the models' convergence is difficult to achieve when applied to engineering projects, especially when the activation energy of the Arrhenius equation is precisely considered. Thus, the models' convergence performance should be improved. To solve this problem and apply the model to engineering projects, the relationship between fast iteration and proper expression forms of the adiabatic temperature rise, the coupling relationship between the pipe-cooling and hydration exothermic models, and the influence of concrete's self-temperature duration on its mechanical properties were studied. Based on these results, the rapid convergence of the hydration exothermic model and its coupling with pipe-cooling models were achieved. The calculation results for a particular engineering project show that the improved concrete hydration exothermic model and the corresponding mechanical model can be suitably applied to engineering projects.

  • Coupling systems for trains need more complicated buffer equipments than existing systems because the recent tendency of the regulations enforces trains to be safe for collisions even when the driving speed is higher than before. Using hydraulic buffer is an effective way to satisfy the requirement while it causes the increase of the cost for the coupling system. In this study, we introduce the methodology to build a simulation model for the hydraulic buffer, which could be installed into the coupling systems. In the simulation model of the hydraulic buffer, the reacting force is determined by both buffer stroke and speed whereas the elastic buffer model is designed by using only the buffer stroke in other studies. The simulation results with the advanced hydraulic buffer model shows that the simulating results can be close the real experimental results around 10%, and, if we considers friction forces, the simulation calculates the maximum force within 10% comparing to the experimental.

  • This paper represents a graphical design technique of the symmetrical dielectric waveguids couplers. Once the phase constants are given by a approzimate model analysis, coupling lengths are easily calculated for each coupler. These method give some new insight of the codirectional couplers.

  • Substructure coupling or component mode synthesis may be employed in the solution of dynamic problems for large, flexible structures. The model is partitioned into several subdomains, and a generalized Craig-Bampton representation is derived. In this paper the mode sets (normal modes, constraint modes) is employed for model reduction. A generalized model reduction procedure is described. Vaious reduction methods that use constraint modes is described in detail. As examples, a flexible structure and a 10 DOF damped system are analyzed. Comparison with a conventional reduction method based on a complete model is made via eigenpair and dynamic responses.

  • A sequential coupled field analysis of electromagnetic free bulging was performed by using FEM. A 2D axi-symmetric electromagnetic model based on the magnetic vector potential is proposed for the calculation of magnetic field and Lorentz's forces. The Newmark integration method is used to calculate the transient dynamic plastic deformation of sheet during free bulging. In the finite element model, the effect of sheet deformation on the electromagnetic field analysis is taken into consideration. In order to confirm the sequential electromagnetic-mechanical coupling analysis, an experiment with an electromagnetic forming apparatus was conducted. The results showed that the final bulge height of the sheet predicted from the proposed method is in good agreement with experimentally measured height.

  • In this paper, a thermo-mechanical model for viscous coupling(VC) was suggested and torque equation in viscous mode was derived considering the effects of geometry of the plates, thermo-mechanical dynamics, silicon oil characteristics and dissolved air characteristics in the silicon oil. Theoretical results were in good accordance with experimental results demonstrating that VC thermo-mechanical model and the theoretical equations, response of the torque transmitted, pressure, temperature and time to the hump were investigated. Simulation results showed that filling rate of the silicon oil plays an integral role not only in the steady state torque characteristics but also in determining the time to hump.
