Quenched Fano effect due to one Majorana zero mode coupled to the Fano interferometer

  • We investigate the change of the Fano effect by considering one Majorana zero mode to couple laterally to the single-dot Fano interferometer. It is found that the Majorana zero mode quenches the Fano effect thoroughly and causes the conductance to be independent of the dot level, the dot-lead coupling, and the increase of the Majorana-dot coupling. As a result, the linear conductance becomes only related to the interlead coupling and the magnetic-flux phase factor. These results can be helpful for the detection of Majorana zero mode.

Osteoclast-derived SLIT3 is a coupling factor linking bone resorption to bone formation

  • We identified osteoclast-derived SLIT3 as a new coupling factor using fractionated secretomics. Coupling links bone resorption to bone formation. SLIT3 stimulated the recruitment and proliferation of osteoblasts into bone remodeling sites via activation of ${\beta}-catenin$. Autocrine signaling by SLIT3 also inhibited bone resorption by suppressing the fusion and differentiation of pre-osteoclasts. All mice lacking Slit3 or its receptor Robo1 showed an osteopenic phenotype with low bone formation and high bone resorption. A small truncated recombinant SLIT3 protein increased bone mass in an osteopenic mouse model. These results suggest that SLIT3 is a novel therapeutic target in metabolic bone diseases.

  • Acoustic modal property of the vehicle passenger compartment is a very important factor which dominates vehicle interior noise in the low frequency range. In most real cars, trunk noise often transfers into the passenger compartment since the two cavities are acoustically coupled. This study identifies the major coupling path by examining the variation of the coupled acoustic modal frequencies and modes. An 1/2 size acryl compartment model is designed and manufactured for the measurement and analysis of coupled acoustic modes. Experimental result shows that package tray contributes to the coupling much more than the back seat and hole size of the package tray is an important design factor to control low frequency acoustic modes in the coupled system.

"Lead-free" Piezoelectric Ba(Ti0.94Zr0.06)O3 Single Crystals with Electromechanical Coupling Factor (k33) Higher Than 0.8 (0.8 이상의 전기기계결합계수(k33)를 가지는 고효율 무연 압전 Ba(Ti0.94Zr0.06)O3 단결정)

  • Orthorhombic $Ba(Ti_{0.94}Zr_{0.06})O_3$ single crystals are fabricated using the cost-effective solid-state single crystal growth (SSCG) method; their dielectric and piezoelectric properties are also characterized. Measurements show that (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.94}Zr_{0.06})O_3$ single crystals have an electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{33}$) higher than 0.83, piezoelectric charge constant ($d_{33}$) of about 400 [pC/N], and piezoelectric voltage constant ($g_{33}$) higher than 50 [${\times}10^{-3}Vm/N$]. The transition temperature ($T_{OT}$) of the (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.94}Zr_{0.06})O_3$ single crystals between orthorhombic and tetragonal phases is also observed to be about $61^{\circ}C$. Because their electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{33}$) and piezoelectric voltage constant ($g_{33}$) are higher than those of soft PZT ceramics, it is expected that (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.94}Zr_{0.06})O_3$ single crystals can be used as "lead-free" piezoelectric materials in many piezoelectric applications.

  • Effect of NiO and $MnO_2$ addtivies on the dielectric piezoelectrics and polarization-reversal properties of $(Pb_{0.936} La_{0.064})$$(Zr_{0.60}Ti_{0.40})O_3$ ceramics have been investigated. The specimens were prepared by the mixed oxide techni-que and atmosphere sintering method. The room temperature X-ray diffraction studies show that perfect perovskite solution with tetragonal structure was obtained from PLZT and its additives. The dielectric constant and dissipation factor decreased with the addition of both NiO and $MnO_2$ The Curie of Curie temperature was not observed but they displayed broadened maxima. The planar coupling factor was improved by addition of NiO and also increased with increasing sintering time carried out at 105$0^{\circ}C$ Addition of $MnO_2$ yielded a markedly high mechanical quality factor. The space-charge field decreased with the addition of NiO but increased with the addition of $MnO_2$ The planar coupling factor and space-charge field showed same dependence on the additivies. The tetragonality Curie temperature and planar coupling factor of $(Pb_{0.936} La_{0.064})$$(Zr_{0.60}Ti_{0.40})O_3$ were higher than those of $(Pb_{0.936} La_{0.064})$$(Zr_{0.568}NU_{0.032}Ti_{0.40})_{0.984}O_3$ but the grain size lattic parameter dielectric constant dissipation factor mechanical quality factor and space-charge field of the former were lower than those of the latter.

  • In this paper Statistical Energy Analysis has been considered to predict middle, high frequency air borne interior noise. PIM method is used for verification. Damping loss factor and coupling loss factor have been derived from the response(SPL) of sub systems when the power is applied. The airborne SEA model of vehicle is modeled through AutoSea2. Insulation material's absorption coefficient and transmission loss are acquired from closed form solution and experiment.

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured and their microstructure, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. By increasing sintering temperature, remanent polarization$(P_r)$ was increased due to the increase of sinterability and grain size. However, coercive $field(E_c)$ showed an opposite tendency to remanent polarization owing to the feasibility of domain wall motion. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$, dielectric $constant({\varepsilon}_r)$, electromechanical coupling $factor(k_p)$, piezoelectric $constant(d_{33})$ and mechanical quality $factor(Q_m)$ showed the optimal value of 1095, 0.60, 363 and 1055, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • In this study, to develop the composition ceramics for the Ultrasonic vibrator, $Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3Pb(Zr.Ti)O_3$ system ceramics were manufactured as a function of PCN substitution. Its dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics were investigated. With increasing the amount of PCN substitution, electromechanical coupling factor(kp) were increased until 3mol% PCN and that after decreased. mechanical quality factor(Qm) showed the maxinum value at 2mol% PCN. Eletromechanical coupling factor, mechanical quality factor and dielectric constant were showed optimum value at PCN 2mol% as 0.58, 1630 and 1407, respectively for ultrasonic vibrator applications.

  • In this paper, we manufactured Pb($Ni_{1/2}$ $W_{1/2}$)$O_3$-Pb($Mn_{1/3}$$Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-Pb($Zr_3$Ti)$O_3$ceramics with variation of milling time and investigated its dielectric and piezoelectric properties. Density was increased with the increase of milling time because the sinterability of specimens were improved with the decrease of particle size. The highest value of electromechanical coupling factor was 0.518 at milling time 5hour. The highest values of mechanical quality factor and dielectric constant were 1566, 1590 at milling time 4hour, respectively.

  • In this paper, the structural, dielectrial and piezoelectrical properties of 0.03Pb(Sb$\sub$1/2/Ti$\sub$0.495/)O$_3$+Xwt% MnO(x= 0, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.7) system ceramics were investigated as a function of the addition of MnO. As a result, the samples of 0.3wt% MnO content showed the highest mechanical quality factor(Qm) of 1487, and its dielectric constant and electro mechanical coupling factor(Kp) 1357, 54.3%, respectively. Therefore, the dielectrial and piezoelectrical properties of the composition ceramics were indicated as the materials suitable for piezoelectric transformer.
